1 Chapter One – World in Grey

I hear stories of beautiful blue skies, green meadows and luscious red flames but I have never seen such glorious things. I live in grey; dull darkness surrounds my every gaze. My eyes are coated in a slate of black and white, which clouds my every emotion. Every day I sit in wait, just waiting for my life to take on color.

"Aria? Aria, ARIA! Are you listening?" I am shaken out of my delusion by my teacher, but my grey gaze follows me. "W-what?" "I said are you listening." "Um, yes Sir, of course." I frantically look around the room, meeting eyes with the very few students that are actually listening to Sir. The red brick of the room seems grey and dull, the usual stain. The whiteboard has daily goals written down, but nothing that I care about. I once again meet eyes with Sir, and I release a nervous chuckle. Sir give me a face that says 'you better pay attention' as he turns his attention to the entire class. "Good. Anyway, students, please meet your new classmate.�� Suddenly, a girl walks through the door, her beautiful amber hair blows and tumbles behind her. Her porcelain skin gleams as her smile extends from ear to ear. She stops right in front of my desk, and her delicate voice rises from her chest. "It's nice to meet you all, my name is Rebecca." She turns her attention from the rest of the class and looks me in the eye. Her smile gets even bigger and my heart starts pounding faster and faster. "I hope I can get to know you all!" Her eyes, soft and caring, spark exhilarating shades of blue, blinding my heart with every shine. Her smile makes my heart race faster than a racehorse, and I begin to feel very warm and almost fuzzy on the inside. Suddenly, shades of blue, green and red force themselves into my vision, filling my heart with emotions I never thought existed.

Here I am, in the midst of all my grey, and a single soul enters my world. In an instant, she took my black and traded it for reds, my greys to blues, and whites to greens. In one glance, this girl made my entire life take on color.
