5 Starting to Train

As Percy was finally able to get a good nights rest in a somewhat comfortable bed, there was a meeting happening between the higher ups in the navy concerning Percy and his education.

Fleet Admiral Kong was sitting down in the middle of a large conference desk with his 3 admirals flanking him, Sengoku, Zed, and Rosati. Next to them were all of the vice admirals who were sitting down waiting for the meeting to begin.

"What do you all think?" Kong asked to begin the meeting, "his fruit is quite dangerous, enough so that I wonder if we should kill him and give it to someone with more control of their emotions."

Sengoku sat there pondering how to handle the situation, he did promise Percy to introduce him to a teacher, but his fruit is going to be a problem if not controlled properly.

"I think we should at least try training him, he did sign up for the marines after all. There is some sense of justice in his blood or he would be a pirate at this point." Sengoku replied to Kong.

"How old is the lad?" vice admiral Tsuru asked as she was contemplating the pros and cons of having an ensign with the darkness fruit. "If he is trained properly, he can be a major asset for years to come, maybe he can even rise to admiral."

"Perhaps," Rosati replied to Tsuru, "Percy is only 16 this year. I wonder who sent him to God's Valley anyway, that place was too dangerous for someone like him to be there."

"I agree with you Rosati" Sengoku said. "It seems like commander Peking wanted to gain military achievements so he thought that should any of his troops gain a victory, he could claim it as his own. Also, it seems like Peking had a thing for bullying the young boy."

"Trash" one of the vice admirals said, "Peking has no place in the marines if this is his mentality".

"I agree" Kong said, "so I called his parents up and we both agreed that Peking should retire from the navy and take another government job instead. His parents still have some influence after all."

"I still don't get why I am here" Garp said as he was yawning. "I'm still in my prime, why would I train someone, it should be left to the instructors at the base."

"It's because of the devil fruit" Kong admonished Garp. "That fruit is so dangerous and potentially lethal that no instructor will be able to handle Percy if he trains with the regular soldiers. He needs someone who is able to handle the darkness fruit and who has first hand experience dealing with those who wield its power."

Garp was silent for a moment before sighing, "you said it's between Zed and I, why? Is Zed retiring from being an admiral after the battle?"

"No" Kong said as he was thinking out loud. "Right now, the navy just won a major victory over the Rocks pirates and we are at the forefront of everyone's minds right now. No one wants to mess with the marines and so this is the perfect opportunity to recruit new blood and refill our ranks. It does not hurt to advertise that one of our admirals is willing to teach new recruits on how fighting is done in the marines."

The conference was quiet as they were contemplating what Kong just said. Zed was still frowning because he wanted to subdue pirates, not babysit an ensign just because he ate a power fruit.

[It'll piss off Garp more if he has to train the boy] Zed thought to himself while smiling. Should he just recommend Garp for the job? While his position as admiral is considered higher than Garp, Garp did just defeat Xebec, something that he was unable to do as he also fought Xebec on numerous occasions.

"Sengoku and Tsusru" Kong stared at the pair, "what are your opinions on who should train Percy."

The two stared at each other before both replying at the same time

"Both of them."

Tsuru added on, "Garp will be plenty busy in the near future because he will be going from one celebration to the next after he killed Xebec and this will give time for Percy to train in the basics with Zed. After all, Zed is better at the technical parts of fighting, be it technique or style." Tsuru said while smirking at Garp.

Garp had an ugly expression on his face as he was staring daggers at Tsuru. It was no secret to everyone in the room that Garp and Zed had a friendly rivalry going on and it seems like Tsuru was only adding wood to the fire. Zed on the other hand was smirking at Garp with a shit eating grin on his face.

However, Tsuru went on "Garp should take over after went it appropriate to learn about power and how to combine his devil fruit with the skills he learned from Zed. After all, who better to teach someone about the darkness fruit then someone who killed a previous user of it."

Everyone sank deep into their own thoughts thinking about the proposed plan by vice admiral Tsuru.

Finally Kong stood up and announced "the plan is sound and it should work for now. Should the need arise, then we will have to adjust the training regiment in order to shape Percy into the most powerful marine there is."

"Yes sir!" everyone shouted as the admirals and vice admirals stood up and saluted the fleet admiral.

As they were walking away, Zed thought to himself, [I guess I better start his training first thing tomorrow. Maybe I can consider it a vacation, at least I get to stay home with my wife. I guess it's time to start a family, this may be my best chance yet since I get to stay in Marineford,] Zed chuckled to himself as he was walking away from the conference room unaware that this meeting would bring endless headaches for the marines in the future.
