Percy and Dragon

Several days past and Percy was getting ready to set out once again when Garp barged into his office in his ship,

"Are you ready?"

"For what?" Percy asked as he looked at the vice admiral.

"Your sailing with me for a little while. It's about time you put work in to get truly stronger."

"What about my crew? I can't just leave them sailing around, they are not strong enough by themselves."

"I spoke with Rosati. He needs extra help lately. Apparently, Bigmom is making moves that is somewhat disturbing. In addition to that, her oldest children are starting to show combat prowess and it's getting concerning. He said he could watch over your commodores and captains until you are strong enough."

"Fine, but I want Orange to stay with me. We've been through hell together, and she's my number two."

"Good. I can agree to that" Garp said with a wide smile on his face. "After all, you need to take of your future wife right? BWAHAHAHAHAHA."

"N-no!" Percy said as his face grew red. "She is helpful in many ways, she can be very strong, train her as well."

"BWAHAHAHAHA alright, I can train your little girlfriend."

Percy was still blushing before he tried to change the subject "how long are we going to be training?"

"Until you are strong enough, it's about time I give you proper training, not like before."

"You mean you weren't serious?"

"If I were... you would be traumatized every time you see me BWAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Percy winced as he recalled his past training with Garp, those beatings, waking up the next day to get beaten again. How many times he got smacked on the head?! Punched in the stomach?! If that was not real training... Percy shivered.

"When do we leave?"

"Now, the sooner you train, the faster I can go back and chase after that damn Roger" Garp said with a wide grin on his face.

As Garp started to leave Percy's office, the vice admiral said almost nonchalantly, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Last night I caught a little cipher pol rat who was sneaking around the base. I beat him up until he told me he was looking for you."

Percy's face instantly darkened, "to kill me?"

"No." Garp said decisively, "at first I thought the same thing. But, he said he's from the Pakattik family and his name was Campbell, ring any bells."

Percy nodded, remembering the soft spoken person next to Parisse.

"Well, he wanted me to tell you 'a deal is a deal' and handed me something to give to you."

Garp then took out a small den den mushi and placed in on Percy's desk.

"Looks like they came through after all" Garp said looking into Percy's eyes. He turned around and left the room with Percy staring at the den den mushi.

[I guess I don't need to chase after them] Percy thought as he started to watch the recording.

The recording started, and Percy saw a tall man with dark clothes and braids on his head. He was fighting what looked like two marines at the same time. Percy looked closer and then he saw them, it was Sengoku and Zed vs. Rocks D. Xebec.

"XAHAHAHAHA" Xebec laughed as the darkness permeated throughout the battlefield. "Let's casually fight to the death, huh admirals?"

"We can't allow you to keep going" Sengoku said as his body started to expand and get golden, "you threaten the justice of this world."

"No admiral" Xebec "I will conquer this world and become justice"

"I think not" Zed said as his arms started to turn black "justice is only defined by the winners"

There were no more words. Xebec launched himself towards Zed and the marine dodged the incoming punch. Xebec stuck out his hand and dark balls shot out of it. Zed quickly moved away before the balls started to expand. When it did, everything that the ball touched, disappeared.

[How interesting] Percy thought as he stared at the attack, [I think he is negating atoms themselves. That's beyond my capabilities for now.]

Percy continued to watch as the fight raged on. Sengoku started to conjure a shockwave with his palm, but Xebec too struck out his hand and the darkness formed from his hand started to absorb the shockwave.

He then preceded to call down meteors from the sky.

"I'll deal with the falling rocks, you deal with Xebec" Sengoku said as golden light started to radiate from his body.

Zed nodded and rushed towards his opponent. Xebec laughed and pointed towards Zed, it took a second before explosions started to form all around the admiral and he needed to coat his entire body with haki in order to not get injured.

[So he negated gravity and called down meteors] Percy said out loud in his office, an awe expression written all over his face. [He also attracted all the oxygen all around teacher and ignited it to start the series of explosions. This devil fruit is a lot more versatile that I thought.]

Xebec started to create firestorms, lighting attacks, and threw large rocks at the two admirals. They were on the defensive as Xebec kept on laughing.

"XAHAHAHAHAHA, I know you can do more admirals, why don't we take it up a notch."

Sengoku harrumphed and the golden light on his body started to spread out. A barrier started to form around the two marines and nothing Xebec used could penetrate it.

"That's more like it" Xebec said as his grin grew. The darkness from his body started to grow and Percy noticed that everything it touched was immediately destroyed. It didn't matter if it was dirt, trees, air, everything started to disintegrate.

The pirate then raised his palms and darkness was launched out of it towards the two admirals. Zed dodged while Sengoku's golden barrier blocked the incoming attack. There was a brief pause as both the attack and shield were fighting against one another. Neither side had an advantage as Zed started to run towards his opponent.

Xebec saw that and black smoke started to cover the ground. The admiral quickly used geppo to jump in the air, but the darkness followed him. When Zed got close, he dodged the incoming black balls Xebec thrown at him again and punched the pirate in the stomach.

Xebec was launched into the forest where the recording couldn't catch. A second later, there was a groan followed by dark smoke rushing towards the admiral. Zed raised his fists and tried to block it, but there was simply too much smoke for him to dissipate everything. When Zed was getting desperate, Sengoku jumped over and shattered the darkness with his shockwave.

Percy was amazed at the level of fighting prowess displayed by the 3 fighters. He was aware that Sengoku and Xebec was strong, but was surprised at how Zed was able to keep his own against that monster. The recording quickly ended and Percy was confused.

[Did they short me again?] Percy thought as the recording was obviously not complete, [or was that all they could record?]

Either way, this was enough for now for Percy to try replicate what the former owner of the dark-dark fruit could do.

It's been a year since Percy started to train with Garp again, and he thought it was hell. He was forced to endure severe beatings by the old man and was forced to fight the strongest marine every time they reached a new island. Fortunately though, he was not alone. Garp insisted that his son Dragon, participate because he wanted to train his successor while Percy also brought along Orange.

The three were trained rigorously, all day they trained in between islands and were given little sleep at night as they were forced to train then as well. Garp insisted that Percy and them train their haki during the day and devil fruit powers at night.

This worked wonders for Percy, he was now able to barely see into the future thanks to his awakened observation haki and his armament haki has now gotten to the point where he could use emission frequently. His conqueror's haki, though it cannot be trained, was finally able to manifest in domination. He was able to intimidate fellow marines on the ship and he was happy because of it.

During this time, Percy and Dragon have been talking a lot. Not just because they shared the burden of a grumpy vice admiral, but because they had similar qualities. They both were on the quiet side, they both had destructive devil fruits, and both wanted ultimate justice. Percy knew that Dragon would seek justice elsewhere, but he figured now is the time for establishing a good relationship between him and the future leader of the revolutionary army.

Life was hard but good under Garp's teaching. He was glad that he didn't have to deal with any major problems, he wasn't summoned anywhere for random missions and Percy was allowed to train in peace. That is, until Kong called one day.
