1 Gabriel The God Eater (New version)

Everybody believes that they are destined for something great, an adventure perhaps one that will lead them to a land far away where their dreams will come true and they will be able to pass down their story from generation to generation to inspire yet another person to follow down the path they once did. Deep within every single soul out there we all have a version of that great adventure we wish to become true in order to fulfill our purpose. However, this destiny does not come to many instead only those who are able to tackle this challenge are one in a few millions while the rest of us end up living our lives unfulfilled with a sour taste in our mouths as we begin to ask ourselves if we truly lived the life that we wanted to live. I was once a normal man who only seeked to live such a normal life, I worked at a bank from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon. I lived alone in an apartment within the city, I was always keeping myself busy with any sort of task in order to avoid asking myself whether I was happy with my life or if I wanted to run away from it all. One faithful evening as I was making a Caesar salad for myself, I looked up from my plate only to notice I was no longer in my own home but instead in a large white room with a pitch-black throne in the middle, and sitting upon it was a with hair as white as snow with a long beard that matched the colors. He opened his eyes with bewilderment as I stood in front of him. His eyes seemed to glow as he looked at me up and down, he told me to step forward in front of him and to show what was in my hands. With hesitation I did as he told me. There was this sense of uncertainty that filled the room, even by looking at him I knew I was somewhere I did not belong. He took the bowl from my hand, sniffed at it then picked up the fork that was buried in the salad. Then everything went black, once I opened my eyes again, I was staring at the old man's body lifelessly slumped against his throne with the bowl broken on the floor and the food scattered along with the pieces. I stared at the scene in disbelief, filled with fear of what just had happened I fell on my back and looked at my shaking hands as I heard some footsteps slowly approaching me but there was no one else within the room. I felt the gentle touch of a hand being placed upon my chest followed by this surge of power that coursed through my body as if it was electricity. Suddenly my mind was being filled with information I could barely process, worlds across the galaxy that I didn't even know existed, names of famous people whom I never met in my life, scientific research that earth has not come close to achieving. It was information that no mortal like me should have had access to, but alas all I could do was hope that my mind would not split in half as I withstood the calamity within my own head.

It all came to a sudden halt that left me trying to catch my breath as I slowly stood up and began to look around the room, I was quickly met with the sound of the heavy gates that guarded this room being opened by what at first glance seemed to be a warrior from the medieval era. As he walked deeper into the room, I began to notice that this man was not human, but something that I believed to be from myths and legends. He had four wings on his back, all moving in perfect harmony with his body, then as I took a deeper look at his armor, I noticed that it had symbols that I never saw in my life but I was able to understand with ease. On his right and left arm, it read "The Great Prince" and on his chest with the odd symbols going downwards it read "Michael" it felt as if I was reading the name off of a jersey of a player on a field however his mere presence made me snap back to the reality that I was faced with as his wings began to sprout eyes that stared at me as he analyzed the body of the old man. "Father, what did this creature do to you?" He gently whispered in a language I could not understand as he put his forehead against his, letting tears drip from his real eyes and dropping onto the floor filling the room with the sound of his tears hitting against the ground and echoing across the room. He turned around to me walking ever so slowly as he unsheathed a sword from his waist that began to be engulfed in raging flames that made me attempt to crawl away. He began to say what sounded like a prayer as his tears kept going, raising his sword to the ceiling as the flames kept growing further until the blade of the sword was seen no more. As I was cornered against one side of the room, I looked back at him with despair as I knew that I could not fight back against such creature with just my own strength but as I began to lose hope for everything a voice shouted from the other side of the gates "Michael stand down" Hearing it more clearly, I thought it sounded like a type of Latin but as I focused on what was said it came to me almost naturally, it was enochian the language of the angels. "Brother, he has injured father gravely, he must be sent to the underworld to pay for his sins. Is that not why you are here." Michael said as the voice remained hidden behind the door then it spoke once more "No my dear brother, I am not here for him. I am here for our father. Everything dies, and I am but the courier that sends the souls where they belong." I heard the loud footsteps begin to approach the room as a figure with a dark cloak appeared, it had two wings upon its back that were pitch black almost as if they had a void within itself. The figure continued to walk forward until it reached the body of the old man and put its hand against his cheek and spoke once more "I am sorry father, our creator, and creator of all that exists but it seems like I must take you where you can finally rest." The fire that Michael wielded began to fade as he watched the figure grab something and then put it inside a small jar that glowed a faint white before being put away inside its cloak. "Then who will lead us now brother, I can only do so much for our realm before it begins to collapse on itself" The more they spoke to each other, the more I began to understand their language with ease as if I was learning something I had forgotten once, it stopped sounding like noises I could barely comprehend and more into proper sentences that I was able to understand and analyze. As I kept listening to their conversation the cloaked figure suddenly turned to me and pointed at me with its finger "He is the new God, my brother. He was chosen by something Father never explained to us, his power resonates with that of our now dead creator. He is the man that will lead us into the new age. He is the new leader of the celestial world, and everything that is ruled under it" Michael looked at me then back at the cloaked figure "No, this can't be Azrael. How is this puny creature supposed to take the place of the being who reigned over everything for thousands upon thousands of years." I looked up at them both, they were giants compared to me and one of them wore armor that not even the strongest man on earth could be able to wear but I spoke regardless of the fear that coursed through my body "I agree, I am not a man who can take place of the being I assume was what my people called God. I know nothing of any of this, I don't even know how I gained passage to this place." They both looked at me, Michael with a puzzled expression but the cloaked figure I could not tell. It was then that I realized that I was no longer speaking English but instead I was speaking Enochian just like them "Yet here you stand, speaking a language that only celestials know. Whether you agree or not it does not matter, you were chosen for a reason that we are not aware of and you shall fulfill your duties as God as your people call it" Michael looked at me with an expression filled with fury as he grabbed his sword once more as it raged with fire, then planted it against the floor as if it was Excalibur from the legends "This is unacceptable in every sense of the word, how can we just welcome this stranger into the highest position of the entire reality. You have gone mad Azrael; you have his soul right there. Just put it back into his body and we can exterminate this fake" Azrael let out an annoyed sigh as he snapped his fingers making the body of the former God slowly crumble away into nothing "That is just his vessel Michael, every soul requires a proper vessel otherwise things get messy. Even if we tried to put his soul inside this man's body it would end in a cataclysm that no one could control, this is the natural order the very same natural order that our father chose. Even he must have had known that death was not something you could escape from. The quicker you realize that this man is the next God, the better for the fate of everything our father left for us to protect." As Azrael spoke, I could only feel the anger within Michael grow stronger, unaccepting of the new order to come. He gripped the hilt of his sword then in the blink of an eye he swung it at me, I tried to put my arms up in a pathetic attempt to defend myself. I heard the loud clank of metal hitting against the ground, as I opened my eyes, I was met with the frightening sight of an archangel holding his broken sword in disbelief. "Make sure to show him the office once you pick up your broken toy, he is our new Father after all" Michael yelled back at him then threw what was left of his sword at him, but Azrael was already leaving through what seemed to be a portal dodging the piece of metal by a hair.

Michael then pulled me by the arm and began to drag me "H-hey wait, where are we going?" No answer from him, only silence that was able to reflect his own conflicted feelings regarding the situation. I was taken out of what I realized was the Throne room, and taken through a pearly white hallway with what seemed to be office doors on every end, each one with someone's name outside of it written in Enochian. "Where do those doors lead to?" I tried to ask but I was met with silence again, he only kept leading me forward for what seemed to be hours until we reached what was the end of the hall. He opened the door then tossed me inside without a care for damage done to me or what was inside the room "This is your office, figure things out and don't bother anyone." He said coldly then slammed the door shut before walking away. I turned around to see what I could only describe as a carbon copy of my old office, down to the paperclip I had left on the floor this morning. I went and sat down on the chair and looked at what was in front of me, a stack of papers with names of people and planets written on them. Each single one with their own substantial information that told its own story. I rubbed the bridge of my nose and looked down as I closed my eyes unsure of what to do, wishing that I at least had a computer and coffee to deal with the situation better. As I opened my eyes I was welcomed by the sight of a clean desk with a large monitor and a cup of freshly brewed coffee just the way I always made it for myself back at earth. I gave it some thought for a second. I am God now. Whatever I wish or think about I could make it come true, whether it was a simple computer to help organize files or a cup of coffee I was able to create anything I wanted. I used this power for what seemed to be the next several hours as I got to work on organizing all the files that the previous God had left behind, correcting whatever mistakes I could find however it was when I reached a certain file that I realized how severe being God is and the meaning behind it. A child by the name of Alex lived a life filled with hatred, abuse, trauma, and substance abuse because that's what the old God decided to make of him. I thought of changing this miserable story into something much more joyful, but as I typed the new story a million more files showed up suddenly. Every single one much worse than that of Alex, an entire planet was thrown into a disbalance then plunged into war and finally an extermination. All because I chose to change a single file, a single life for the better. I put my hands against my face and began to weep, for trying to change the life of one I made the fate of millions insufferable. I quickly restored the older version of the file, wishing I had never tried to meddle with the lives of others. I did not wish to bear this responsibility; I did not wish to be the one that decides whether somebody gets a happy life or one that is much worse than anything I have experienced. I wanted to run away, I did not wish to use these powers to create or destroy anymore, I wanted to reject being God. As my mind kept getting lost within these thoughts and wishes a portal opened behind me, I was being given a choice. I could stay and accept what I got myself into, or I could selfishly run away from all of this away from everything. I did not need to use the power of God to survive if that was going to be the case, the infinite knowledge I was given was not just books and chemical reactions but the many arts of fighting that exist across the universe. If I had survived the attack of an Arcangel, then I would be able to withstand just about anything I am thrown at. I did not wish to relieve what my past life was, stuck in an office where there was nowhere to run or anything to do. This was my chance to live the adventure everyone dreams of; this was my opportunity to become someone. Without giving it more thought I walked through the portal as I promised to reject the powers of God, and to travel across the infinite cosmos to live my own life.

I was suddenly in what was similar to a waiting room for a bus, inside my right pocket I found a ticket that was headed to a random planet I read about briefly some time ago. I looked around to be met with creatures of all shapes and sizes, however to my surprise they were all human like but with some different details such as skin color or type, eye shape, ears and so on making it easier to blend in. I looked at my ticket once more then began to look for the planet name that was displayed, it would be in my best interest to keep moving. I made it to the terminal where a waiting line led to a large space ship, I joined the rest of the creatures there and began making my way to the front of the line. "A human? Haven't seen one of your kind around here in a long while. Rarity you people can be but then again you are always the reason something blows up, so try not to crash my ship please" The man with four arms and bat wings said to me with a worried sigh "I won't sir, just passing through I promise" He let me through, and I made my way through until I found my seat in what would more than likely be the medium class sort of area. I sat down and looked out the window as I saw the busy place be filled with many interesting faces that I could have never imagined of if I even tried to. There was an entire world opening in front of me, and I was not going to let this opportunity go to waste. I swore that I would never use the powers of God that were bestowed upon me, meaning that if something bad was to happen to me I would have to accept fate without a second thought. Death, and life are two concepts that many do not consider during their day to day lives now being a reality rather than a topic of conversation you use when something tragic happens in your life. I let out a soft sigh as I tried to stop thinking about it. It was then that a man with a television for a head and an odd human-like body sat down next to me. I gave him a friendly nod then smiled as he looked at me then within the tv showed a OwO followed by a robotic male voice speaking "Hi there friend, looks like we will be travel buddies for this. I am 2912092udj01j291-1jei30 but you can call me two nine. Say I can't detect a single piece of technology on you, do you even have a digit on you?" He asked me as I looked at him with all sorts of questions but was only able to ask one "What's a digit?" I asked softly as the screen shifted to another emotion, now showing -w- "You are telling me you have never seen or used a digit? Yet you managed to get on a cruise ship to another planet? Are you some sort of trickster my friend?" He asked which I responded with my head shaking as I nervously spoke "No, that's not it. I can't really explain everything properly but I got mixed up with a crowd of people that I did not want to mess with and now I somehow ended up here without really knowing how." The face shifted once more to TwT "Well keep your secrets then friend but here, I happen to have an extra digit on me. My kind has to keep up with the most technological trends due to cultural purposes so I have a new one already, the latest model too. You get the older model friend, it's just as good just some features that are a little different" He said as he took a small chip and handed it to me "What do I do with this?" I asked, unsure of how to even use the new piece of technology being handed to me and his face changed once more to OwO "You really don't know anything, very well. You simply place the chip wherever in your body you want, it'll connect to your brain and it'll make a small rectangular screen appear where you wish. In there you'll be able to connect to everyone across the universe along with information. Just make sure not to do anything risky, they may be safe to use but they are not invulnerable to being hacked or destroyed. Take good care of it friend." I nodded slowly as I put the chip behind my ear lobe and then did a motion as if to hold my phone making a holographic screen appear with a menu and a search bar. I tapped on the search bar making a keyboard appear "You got the hang of it my friend, if you do not mind, I will sleep the rest of this ride. Please wake me up if I do not wake up when the ship lands, and please do not do anything weird next to me. Thank you!" Before I was able to say anything else he just shut off and went to sleep. "Wish I was able to do that back in Highschool" I said to myself with a chuckle then looked back at the screen on my hand. I took it back to the main menu where some default apps were set up, one of them was a bounty tracker. I got curious, but before opening it I searched the app on the search engine that seemed to be called Mouse. According to what I found there; bounty hunting is a regular job people take in this infinite universe. Not only that but it seemed to be a well-paid career but of course it was an extremely dangerous one as well, with an infinite variety of creatures available there would be no guess as to how strong or dangerous people could be out here. It was while I was reading all sorts of articles explaining the rules and ways to properly be a bounty hunter that I got a notification from the app I had forgotten about a minute ago: "New SSS tier bounty added." Out of curiosity I opened it, and I was met with my own face looking back at me "Gabriel The God Eater. Wanted for avoiding celestial duty. Reward: Anything you wish. Turn to your nearest celestial representative" I did not know what to do at that moment, but everyone on the space ship seemed to be trying to sleep or distracted to recognize me. I pulled my hoodie up and tried to hide my face as I looked out the window into the infinite cosmos that surrounds me now. I did not realize that my life would take such a turn however I would not complain either, as it would be a million times better than the last two options I had been given. Little did I know that a man with a TV for a head would become the most normal thing that I would face before I would meet the man that soon became my closest friend.
