38 Crossroads

The powerful spells of Damian struck his enemies mercilessly; dozens of demons were crushed by his spells that interconnected, increasing the power of his magic.

"It's not enough; this time no enemy will remain alive." Damian extended his right hand, his fingers came together, and he shot dozens of lightning bolts that burst out of numerous magical runes. Only those who have reached a point in magic where only imagination can stop them know how powerful they have become.

Damian felt the potency of his spells; each lightning bolt pierced through the demon's bodies and spread like infectious viruses through the air.

When Damian saw that the enemy couldn't break through the allied lines, he immediately sent the remaining direct forces forward; the spear throwers took a step forward combined with sword techniques that complemented each other.

But at the same time, a dozen strong demons broke through the front lines, sweeping away numerous warriors who defended against every unleashed attack.

Seeing that the war was becoming tense, Damian was secretly worried about the cliff. He continued manipulating the lightning, thereby eliminating numerous demoniacs that raged with fury.

Realizing that Damian was too great a threat, a demon floated in the air and prepared to descend from a great height to kill Damian and eliminate this threat.

But before he even descended, several mages moved their staffs, casting spells to stop him.

The other mages were first-class and were precise in each of their attacks. The other demons couldn't resist all the attacks aimed at their discretion; the value of humans had increased at that moment, something that had never happened before.

A normal orc army consisted of 5,000 regular soldiers, 3,000 riding monstrous wolves, and some demons, who were the mages controlling everything from behind.

But no matter how many their numbers were, whenever an orc or demon clashed against a human army, there would always be a power difference.

"Many die..."

But when it comes to sophisticated equipment, human soldiers far surpass demons.

Numerous teams from orcs, who are a relatively new race that has appeared in the north, have not been seen, but they excel in their strength.

Generally, in wars, humans have better tactics than demons, and their combat equipment is more precise.

The key factor is that humans have a unified continental writing system, and the linguistic differences are relatively small, making mutual learning and understanding of shared information easier.

Because orcs and demons are different races, it is very difficult to learn each other's languages. To understand them, one needs to learn seven or eight conventional orc languages.

Because of this factor, communication among orcs on the battlefield is not very convenient.

According to previous border war experiences, with the same amount of troops, the main army can often defeat orcs.

In more than two months of war, orcs suffered great losses, especially when they attacked the seven great fortresses; most orcs were either dead or wounded.

"This will be simple..." Damian saw no complications in this battle; they had the high ground, so there should be no major problems.

"Arghhhh!!!"

The blows that demons managed to land left limbs on the ground of soldiers who did their best to eliminate their enemies.

A battle for survival.

"We need to establish another line of defense, so prepare yourselves!"

This defense line is not very strong—just a few rows of wooden fences to repel cavalry—but it is still a major problem for the advancing demons.

It takes time to break through this fence, and the temporary squad on the cliff continues shooting arrows downward.

In every minute of delay, several rounds of feathered arrows were fired from the mountain, killing and injuring dozens more soldiers.

Advancing on such an unfavorable battlefield was very negative for orcs because each time they took a step forward, many were killed.

Damian safely continued casting spells; each attack he unleashed disrupted the enemy lines, which favored his soldiers on the battlefield, who were doing everything to survive.

Furthermore, the soldiers' arrows, although normal, were poisoned and capable of knocking down a polar bear within seconds.

A simple scratch from an arrow would be enough to leave many demons immobilized on the ground.

"Keep shooting arrows!"

This battle was far from over. Using powerful spells from a high area on the mountain, Damian had managed to eliminate many enemies.

Damian observed the battlefield and initially judged that demon and orc casualties had exceeded 40%.

If it were a normal army, they would have retreated long ago with 40% casualties.

Orcs have a special culture, and their ability to endure casualties surpasses that of humans. Additionally, the major casualties occurred spontaneously, which would not give them any exaggerated feelings.

But as the arrows continued to fall, orc soldiers kept falling, and blood splattered everywhere, which also made them think.

Fear spread among the orcs, but their bloodthirsty nature and cruel military laws still made them fight instinctively.

One demon who knew about their imminent defeat stepped forward, held a long sword bathed in his blood, and muttered, "I will not live to see my lord dishonored by my poor command skills."

Damian became more serious this time; he formed a bow of electric rays and shot a furious Rafa arrow.

The demon named Lars blocked that arrow with his sword.

Lars was no ordinary demon; his combat skills seemed to match those of all the soldiers on the battlefield relatively easily.

Seeing that he couldn't do much more because it would harm other human soldiers on the battlefield, Damian first took care of eliminating other soldiers.

Lars fiercely entered the forming camp, and the camp leader, Luther, also knew that this would not be an easy battle, so he first ordered his men not to leave any humans alive.

The remaining orcs rushed down this path of death and entered the camp one after another, fighting hand-to-hand with soldiers who outnumbered them and were formed in a unique battle style that gave them an advantage.

For a brief period, the camp descended into chaotic fighting; they were afraid of harming their own people, and not even Damian dared to cast spells.

Concerned about his friends in the camp, Damian immediately ordered the soldiers to release the ropes, use them to slide down the mountain, and then hurry into the camp with the soldiers of the temporary squad.

"Whoever doesn't die will get a rich reward!"

All the soldiers roared in the midst of battle. Holding a sword in their right hand, Damian entered the battlefield.

His sword skill may not be the best, but it was meant to challenge any enemy and not be at a disadvantage against anyone.

Boom!

"Human!"

Damian looked at this demon who dared to stand in front of him and smiled in a somewhat contemptuous way towards his enemies.

The demon Lars, who originally wanted to eliminate Luther, heard many humans arriving from the rear and then looked at Damian flying towards them.

"I will take care of him!"

Damian opened his eyes slightly as he felt a strong sense of danger and, in just a few moments, raised his sword when he saw Lars taking the initiative to attack him.

The two heavy weapons collided with the intention of seeking each other's life, producing a thunderous collision sound.

Boom!

Damian's hand trembled slightly, and he felt intense pain coursing through his body.

"What terrifying strength! I fear no warrior on this battlefield could withstand a single blow from this demon."

Luther originally planned to close his eyes and await death. Seeing the powerful demon turn

around and fight. Damian, who had only received one blow, struggled to stand up.

The other warriors tried to approach, but they were all repelled by the strong impacts being generated.

"You are a strong human; I don't understand your insistence on fighting hand-to-hand when you are actually a mage and still have plenty of magic left." Lars held his sword high, looking at Damian with disdain.

Damian smiled awkwardly, not knowing that fights involved talking, but seeing that this demon wanted to catch his breath, he replied, "I just wanted to learn, but now that you're interested in dying, I can show you something."

Just as he said that, Damian snapped his fingers, and a black spot formed from his shadow. In a few brief moments, a figure over two meters tall formed and roared furiously as it saw Lars; it disappeared from Damian's back in just a few seconds.
