37 The cries of Help Don't Bother Me

Life is peaceful when you ignore, that's why the ignorant are always content to stay in their little bubble and believe in whatever is thrown at them. The whole week I chose to ignore crime I didn't have that peace, what others ignore is either the truth or the past but what I have to ignore is 100's of cries for help.

So I once again put on the mask and started swinging but this time thing are different. I didn't fight any crime, I saved people, I saw a rapist dragging a woman into an alley I didn't punch his teeth in, I just held the woman and swung away from the rapist and dropped her near a police station.

I landed on a nearby pole and looked down at the drugs being exchanged, they saw my shadow and looked up in fear but I had to ignore drug peddling monsters because I have to follow the law but I set my sights aside and swung away.

I saw a couple of guys stealing a car, I approached a nearby pedestrian and asked him to call the police, he looked confused as he called and I swing away once the cops knew.

I did this shit for a whole week and one time after helping an old lady get her cat down from the tree a lady approached me and asked "why are you doing this?" I looked behind to find a guy holding a camera and the lady holding a Mic to my face. 

I talked into the microphone "because Nala made a boo boo and should know her limits when climbing high trees" she laughs and says "no, not that. I am asking about why you have stopped taking down criminals?" I smile inside my mask as I said "I am here to save people, not fight crime, as I found out that it isn't legal to fight crime".

The reporter lady gets serious as she asks me "then what about the gangs entering the city to fill the void you left behind" I stop smiling and say "I have understood that I should let the professionals handle these things so that they can take a couple of years to do the work that took me a couple of months" she looks offended as she asks "so you are going to give up on the job you started because a few people disagree, you won't get far in life with that attitude" I get closer to her Mike and she steps back in fear as I say "look here lady, I wouldn't give a damn if half the city is against me but I have wife and kids at home waiting for me, I don't want to die because a cop put a bullet in my head when I wasn't looking.".

I quickly swing away and get home.

-POV May- 

May thought to herself "poor man, must be stressed to take care of his family and the city at the same time" ben shakes his head as he says "this is called malicious compliance, that guy is doing exactly what he can and not a thing more than that" may looked at him lovingly and asked "and you know this how?" Ben looks into may's eyes as he says "I used to do it at my old work" may looked concerned as she says "you don't talk about your old work that much, what happened?".

Ben looks out the window and says "they are watching us again now that I did what I did" may feels her heart clench as she asks "you said they wouldn't bother us" ben chuckled and said "I said they wouldn't come bother us but I didn't say they weren't going to park a blue van in the next Street near Mrs jonathons house and monitor us Monday to Friday and tap our phones and will be listening to this very conversation".

May rolled her eyes and said "stop showing off and tell me what you are going to do about it" ben looked around and stared at something and said "for now nothing" and turned back to smile at may and leaned in to give her a peck on the lips making may smile.

-POV Unknown-

The man watching the footage broke into a cold sweat and asked his partner "are we that bad or is he that good? " the partner swiped his sweat and said "we need to report this to the higher ups" the man scolds his partner "and get orders to increase surveillance.." the man looks at the footage of Ben parker looking straight at the camera they placed in his house and said "...on that man" the partner nodded and said "so what do we do" the man lit a cigarette and said "we are going to do what he is allowing us to do, watch him".

The man got out of the truck and smoked his cigarette. As he was looking around he noticed a tree with a peculiar blink amidst it's branches and smiled as he said "Son of a gun is watching us" and starts laughing like a mad man.

A few days later

-POV Reporter-

"As we can see there have been reports of increase in crime all the way from queens to Manhattan, the suspects have grown bold now that the resident vigilante is working much more passively compared to his beat em up approach. Our reporter has met a couple of the recent victims of this increase in violence to ask them about their opinion." The reporter on the scene holds the Mic out for a black man and asks.

"Now that spiderman stopped his crime fighting, what is your opinion on the growing crime rate?" The man looks at the camera and says "spiderman didn't stop fighting crime, he is just fighting it in a different way" the reporter asks "how so?" The black man grins and says "before he used to hogtie those little shits and call the police for cleanup but now he just saves the person and leaves" the reporter then asks "isn't that much better than fighting an armed individual without any jurisdiction".

The black man frowned and shouted loudly "man fuck the jurisdiction, I got mugged by the same guy twice because spiderman only saved my ass and didn't do nothin to the criminal, I ain't wanna be shot dead right after I escaped once"

The reporter held the Mic and delivered a final piece of news "The netizens are loosing their trust in a slow and disorganised police and are hating the force they showed to people who actually wanted to make a difference is this trend going to cause issues further down the line..." The reporter suddenly stopped as she held the earpiece as the screen changed to a a reporter in an office saying "An oscorp convoy truck exploded into sparks as a giant rhino/man mutation escaped from the convoy. Said rhino is wreaking havoc left and right and it seems to be headed towards oscorp tower....."

-POV Peter-

A nice date with Billie is all i needed huh "stop day dreaming and help me eat this" I nod and take a bite off the gigantic sandwich that would be free if we both finish it by the given time, I chew as I say "You know I can pay for this right?" She chomps down on the big sandwich and chews for a second before saying "I can too you dummy but it's a competition".

I swallow and say placatingly "Fine, fine just stop yourself if you think it's too much okay, if you eat too much your tummy might hurt" I playfully grab her stomach folds and sqeeze a couple of times. She slaps my hand away and says in a low tone "are you calling me fat?" I nod and say "Yes and I love my little piggy like that".

She smiles and says seriously as she wipes her mouth with a napkin "One day you are going to look at some thin skinned harlot and I will sit on your face and kill you" I sighed with a wistfull look and said "Truly a great way to die" she started giggling and I felt like I could happily die right now.

*BOOM*

The explosion rocks our balance but I hold Billie from falling as I think 'just because I said it DOESN'T MEAN I WANT TO DIE RIGHT FUCKING NOW', I turn towards the explosion and see the rhino getting out of the truck.

Damn superhero world always interrupting my fucking dates with Bille, I drag bille towards a taxi and push her in ignoring her protests as I pay the taxi driver to take her home "I got something to do, I'll catch up later okay" I walked away ignoring her objections as the taxi drive away.

Come on rhino, let's test how strong your teeth are.
