Chapter 3 (Novas pov)

Freak.

Dangerous.

Disgrace.

Different.

Weird.

And strange.

That's what people saw me as, not the shy, obedient little girl I was. They looked at me like I was one grey streak in a rainbow, that I was different and that if they talked to me they would have bad luck or something. Every day when I would go somewhere I had to put on my eye patch on my left eye because it was red and it wasn't supposed to be. All elves have blue eyes, but for some reason, I and my older siblings have an eye that's not blue so we have to wear an eye patch. 8 years ago.....

"Mommy?"

"Yes, darling?"

"Where is Cinder?" I asked blinking really fast. "Your sister is putting her eye patch on Hunny." She said. "Adam, can you put your sister to bed?" "Yes mother," Adam replied reaching out for my hand. I took it, and he lead me to my room. I looked where Cinder's room was and saw the door closed. Weird, Cinder never had her door closed. I stopped to open her door to see if she was inside. Adam pulled me back quickly as we heard loud coughing coming from inside her room. Was that Cinder? She better not be sick, she promised she would make ice unicorns and play with me tomorrow. I looked at Adam worried but his eyes were still glued to Cinder's door probably debating if he should go in or not. But he shook his head and lead me to my room. I climbed into my bed and he tucked me in. "What's wrong with sissy?" I asked. He sighed and said. ".....you know how she is with her allergies..." He said. I knew he was trying to seem like he knew the answer but I knew he didn't and that he was worried on the inside. He looked into the distance and glared and we heard more coughing. Adam snapped back into reality and kissed me on the forehead. "Sweet dreams Nova." He said as he turned off my lamp and left. As I drifted off to sleep I noticed that my chest started hurting, the pain growing with each passing second like a fire burning my chest while getting bigger and bigger spreading all over my body getting larger and more painful. I tried to scream but all that came out was a squeak, I tried again putting my effort, and jeez did I scream, it was the loudest thing I've ever heard. I'm pretty sure everyone in the house could hear it. Adam came rushing in with Cinder limping behind him pale, with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. I could see Adam's lips moving but all I could hear was "Nova!!...What....are you....does.....hurt? I'm..." I could hear Cinder as well mumbling in a croaky voice from her sickness trying to see if I was ok. Everything went hazy then started spinning and then everything went black.
