Chapter 26: The Prophecy and the Future

"He is sealed for now… Not dead. Hope our descendants aren't warmongers like we were… We have lost too much… And mark my words three is not the last number to this cycle…"

I remember once my lord told me that it was okay to be a hypocrite! As long as your hypocrisy brings you the results you want.

So is this the power of lies and hypocrisy held by an intelligent individual.

None of us felt disgusted by his actions, he might say he wasn't kind but he was very kind in his own way. He had love and empathy for the people, a quality lacking in most noble classes.

I believe you will become a great king my lord. And I Mavis Koira Blackhawk will be in the forefront of your campaign supporting you.

The hawks will always serve the Phoenix my lord we always have and we always will.

Year 1212, 20th day of the 6th month – Purplewing Clan main house

[Mirabelle]

.

This is a nightmare, it has to be… For one I met 2 people as young as me who can manifest their auras… Then one of them beat me before I could even blink… Then when I woke up my grandmother told me that we are all slaves to a phoenix…

A phoenix of all things. Everyone and their clan knows that the Vermillion clan was annihilated by their own fledgling. A cruel massacre by one of your own… the tragedy.

Purplewing Clan always served the Vermillion royal Clan, and to hear that Hawk calling us traitors… That really got on my nerves. Well until…

"Sigh!!" I couldn't help but sigh audibly. As my grandmother told me what really happened. And the crimes our family committed...

Even I felt disgusted…

But still… Becoming a slave to a man who calls himself a phoenix. I who grew up as a princess need to serve a man. I am still pure mind you. I have many suitors but I saved myself for the Crowned prince to ask for my hand.

Now that will never happen… I will rot away or worse might even die, due to the contract that binds our bloodline now.

Grandmother is bothered by that and the rest of the family is incensed. Grandmother ordered every clan member to seal their mouth and to communicate with paper and ink for normal things. Only to use voice when inside and only members of the bloodline are present.

But she wasn't as devastated as the rest herself. She told me that we will find a way to kill our oppressor. And my brother Mould was the key…

Seems like my brother already knows about the matter and making haste.

Well that's a thought for another day…

Today I dolled myself up. I haven't dressed up or put on cosmetics for a long time as I was training hard to either become the prince's consort or if that fails then the next priestess. I did my best to make myself look beautiful. As I will be 'presented' to the young phoenix…

Looks like I will not be pure after today. Not anymore. Unknowingly tears started sliding down my face ruining my makeup. I had to redo it again and steeled myself.

I have to endure for now and, and…. When my brother saves me. I will become a priestess and try to cleanse my body by praying for the rest of my life.

"Sigh"

"Stop sighing so much and hurry up Bella. You need to serve the oppressor well. For the clan… If you can get in his good graces, he will let his guard down and we can take him down easier." A very strict voice of a woman could be heard.

I dejectedly nodded and replied, "I understand mother. I will use all the knowledge you imparted to me."

"Good. I know it might feel unfair. But such is life. I was sold to your father just because he was the clan head. No one asked for my preference either. 'You have strong blood of our clan' that's all they said. Sigh!" My mother came near me and hugged me with silent sobs.

She was trying to act tough but Even she was sad about the situation.

"I am scared, mother." I said as I buried my head on my mother's bosom. She didn't answer, just hugged me and stroked my hair gently.

.

After a few minutes we met up with my father and grandmother and made our way to the main hall.

Opening the sliding door what greeted us were the kids and the Hawk sitting below the main seat with a few more children. Beside the main seat stood the Old Master who defeated grandmother.

We bowed to him and came inside sitting in seiza. Now the most painful wait began for the Lord to arrive.

Surprisingly it didn't take long.

In came a man wearing Black pants and a black haori, with a white shirt underneath. We all bowed to him in seiza till he took his seat and told us to lift our heads.

And as I did just that I was Flabbergasted. A man with golden hair, beautiful long eyelashes and Sky blue pupils and a beauty mark under his left eye. Looking at us with a smile that was just not fair to a maiden like me.

He had effeminate features but didn't look feminine…I sighed inwardly. Because,

I was done for and I knew it….

[3rd Person]

.

In the great hall of the Purplewing clan, Lucian and his party, and the most important members of the Purplewing main family were seated.

As they exchanged greetings, the priestess told her granddaughter to take her position. Which was behind the Lord. Getting no answer from her granddaughter she was a bit scared. But when she saw her dreamy look staring at the Lord she couldn't help but sigh.

Nudging and reprimanding her a bit got the young girl out of her daze. As the young maiden rushed to her station red with embarrassment, getting a giggle from Celine.

The atmosphere was harmonious and no one would believe that a day ago. This would have been impossible knowing the members participating in the meeting.

And it did soon get tense. As Lucian's smile faded and everyone in the hall set up straight.

"Gerda, did you bring the scroll with Haranhaul's seal?"

"Yes master, we were able to procure a direct copy when the prophecy was released and we have brought it here."

She got up and gave the sealed scroll to the young knight who in turn delivered it to Lord Mavis of the Blackhawks.

"Read."

"As you command your grace.

Following is the Great Prophecy read by the current Reader of Forsaul, with the same methods used by the ancient Readers.

||A time of grief is upon man

An ancient evil will be awakened

Greed and Pride are just two sins

But that might just let the evil win

Help needs to be asked, from the progeny of Light

He shall walk his fate

And accept the inevitable fight

But the strings of fate do not weave in a line

Beware sons of man, as what you choose

Can bring unfathomable decline

Only a light can cast away the darkness of the heart

Blood spilled is blood lost never forgotten

A land of death filled with sand

Will upturn and become hard land

As one sibling of three cannot bear the loss of her sister anymore

She too will join her and fall from grace

Savior, we leave to you the safety of human race

Beware the sister's grief is the start of change

Only to be fueled by greed and pain||

And that concludes the Fourth Great Prophecy of Forsaul."

There was total silence in the room after what the hat guy read. I MEAN WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?

MOST of that piece of letter made no sense… And talk about poetry. Even I can write better ones.

Three siblings and one sister falling from grace. Bah! Feels like one of the fancy romantic tragedies my roommate used to like.

Most of that did NOT MAKE any SENSE. GOD! Well if I voice it out Axel might just think I am stupid. Well I don't deny… But I want to look good in front of him… Umm what if I ask him what he thinks? Yes, that way he will think that I am interested in his opinion.

I couldn't help but be proud of my brain. HeHe, to all those people who said I wasn't smart. But see I AM.

So I happily looked towards my Axel. Only to see he was looking lost more than myself. Umm, seems like the poetry was too much nonsense even for Axel.

I looked around the room and everyone either had a dumbfounded expression or a thoughtful one. Only Lucian was sitting as usual.

A few more minutes passed as everyone kept musing on their own. I was REALLY losing patience. I mean WHY ARE WE EVEN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND. It's just some stupid old man writing scribbles. I pouted and my body was twitching.

Lucian noticed and he turned to me. I was a bit embarrassed so I just turned away.

Then he smiled and broke the silence.

"Well everyone, we all heard the prophecy. So tell me what you all think."

No one really answered. Mostly because, no one knew how to answer that.

I could see everyone a bit red.

"Well it's quite alright. Even if you didn't understand it all, any bit of your understanding will be helpful.

So let's start with the youngest in the room shall we?"

"EHHHH! But my lord I didn't understand anything~" Casper pouted as he answered Lucian.

"Well that is quite alright Casper. Then Axel, my dear friend and retinue. Tell me what you picked up from it."

"Lu- My Lord, the first few verses are very straight forward which mainly means another Evil being will appear. Most probably another Deakin champion. And for the verse with the help. I think it is trying to tell us to do the summoning ritual again as The great hero Hamza was known as the Prince of Light, and the verse also talks about a progeny of light."

I stared at him in amazement. That was so simple and I didn't understand that before but now I do. Axel is so amazing.

Then I could see gramps and hat guy nod in approval.

"Mavis."

"Your highness, what young Axel said makes sense. Last time the ancient evil known as Horkan was declaring war against the races we had to summon the Prince of Light to protect us. We might have to do the same again.

And the prophecy talks about light to defeat darkness as well. As for the other verses… I can only assume the verses with the 3 siblings and one falling from grace will be the start of the new war…"

"Yes my lord, what Mavis said makes sense. But the problem is who are the 3 siblings." Gramps interjected.

"Well, anyone have any thoughts on the three siblings?"

Lucian asked the room and we all shook our heads. And I blurted out,

"Lucian it sounds like those romantic dramas girls read you know." Opps, everyone in the room looked at me in shock, the Purplewing girl was looking at me with self-pity. That kind of got me annoyed.

"Sigh, Celine dearest, thank you for your comment. But I don't think the prophecy is talking about a romantic tragedy between siblings. But you aren't entirely wrong of it being a tragedy either." We were all surprised by what he said. He looked at everyone and then continued.

"Why are you all only thinking along the lines the three siblings need to be people?"

Hat guy had his eyes wide and he started hurriedly, "Ye-yes your highness, there is no rule that says the siblings were people. There were 3 sibling kingdoms in the past… In between Borvania, Centuran and The Black Sands, now a wasteland, used to be the kingdom of Deakins, Deakingon. Which was a sister state of Borvania and Centuran but of course with different names which I do not recall.

And if history books are correct then, the Deakins tried to overthrow the human empire and there was the First prophecy made on it. And on the night of 'Silent Reaping' a great genocide occurred.

Forcing the Deakins to cross the Uncrossable Desert or Black Sands.

If we take the prophecy in that sense. Then It might be indicating the fall of either Borvania or even Centuran.

And the prophecy did have a verse with sands and it will most probably indicate that as so."

Everyone in the room gasped. My brain was getting fried. I never heard of that history before, Deakins were real? Really?

Everyone broke into a murmurs. I asked Axel a few questions which I did not have any understanding of.

And Lucian spoke up.

"I do have a few understanding of my own. But I do not want to jump into conclusion. Your assumption was wonderful Mavis. You deserve praise.

For now I want everyone to spread around the county and gather information on the other countries responses to the prophecy. And in a month we will decide what we will believe. For now dismissed."

And we all got up and left. I am very sure we will not have a relaxing month ahead of us. Before leaving I could see Lucian still sitting there with his eyes closed and the new servant girl sitting behind him in her idiotic expression.
