Every coin has two sides, so does the pandemic because otherwise Manuel barely talked to his 3 year old smart little daughter. His busy work schedule seldom allowed him to kiss his daughter a good morning or watch her drift into sleep at night. His wife never complained but he knew he wasn’t being a good husbandman, he knew he had to do more than just make money and feed the family. His mother taught him that a lot of money with little love is as a corpse adorned with jewels; today as he sat in his garden, sipping his coffee, he understood how much of leisure just a day with no deadlines or duties was. He didn’t see his daughter walking up to him, and he was surprised when she tried startling him, he laughed and put her on his lap and without being told, his daughter leaned against his chest but this time her head hit his chin and he remembered the last time he held her similarly and his heart warmed up with a feeling beyond expression. “Don’t you have to be going to office today dad,” she asked softly, her voice tender.

“No dear, I’ve no work today and sometimes even tomorrow” he said with a smile, “did you sleep well?”

“I always sleep well dad, mom told me that it is necessary to sleep very well to be healthy!”

“Your mom is correct always; do you do all that your mom tells you to do as a good kid?”

“I’m very obedient dad, I’m never naughty” she said with an innocent smile.

“Well, that sounds good!”

“Dad…Will aliens destroy earth” she asked after a while of silence and he was taken aback by the question. “Well am afraid they’ll have nothing to destroy, we the humans are doing the job well” he said and both of them broke into a hearty laughter.

“So will any aliens be friendly dad?”

“I don’t know dear, they may be friendly or maybe not; when onwards are you interested in aliens?”

“Mm mm….from yesterday, I heard on the TV that aliens would take over earth from 2021! Is it true dad?”

“We’ll see about that, anyways New Year is just few days away!”

“Will I be able to do school if aliens conquer the earth?”

“If the aliens want this little angel to do some schooling they’d surely allow you to go to school.”

“I’m scared dad, what if they kill any of us, the aliens?”

“Don’t be afraid, your dad will fight to protect if they try to do any harm to my little princess.”

“What if they’re stronger than you, we’d need to have a superhero costume then!”

“If they’re stronger than me, I’ll sacrifice my life for you, then my love will make a protection that no one can break, love is the strongest super power that every dad and mom have, that is why they are super heroes!”

“I’d miss you then dad, I’d really miss you if you died even if it is for me, I love you and mum so much,” she said planting a little kiss on cheek and he smiled realizing how much great a treasure he had neglected all the while.
