Chapter 8 Rescue.
After everybody had gotten there chance to fly it Paul landed next to me and got off smiling at me… I took the broom and handed it to Kelly and said that she must keep it safe. She smiled and nodded to me…
We left the testing room and Mia got swarmed by Frida and Lisa asking about the kiss glancing back at us giggling… Paul and I walked a little further behind them talking about his plans for the solders…
"you said over half of the world was infested… do you know how much?" Paul stopped and looked around before asking me.
"80% but Mamma Nature is holding them off for now…" I looked around and whispered to him.
"and I assume humanity is on the line?" he smiled over to the others that had noticed that we stopped and looked puzzled at us…
"yes. but I am working on other measures too." I smiled at Mia before i looked back at him.
He told me that he could have the dock start making the ship frame and have it ready for when I had gotten everything tested out so the building would take less time. I nodded and thanked him for the aid…
He told me that since this is a matter of survival I could order anything I wanted and if I needed help I could contact him at any time I wanted. He asked if Mia knew about it. I told him the truth that I did not want to worry her, but she knew enuf to be concerned…
"you do your work on your end and I will start working on my end. We can talk about this later. We better not keep them waiting." Paul smiled at me.
"yee. I probably won't be allowed to do any research when I get home…" I giggle to him.
We started walking again and reached the girls waiting for us. we said our goodbyes and they left the school. Mitch walked over with 4 guards and told us since the spy incident he wanted to have a little extra security in place just in case… I nodded and thanked him before he left.
Mia said the class was over and we should go and grab some lunch before we went to the library. i smiled and nodded to her. We took eat our lunch and talked about how we were going to prank mom when we got back… Mia wanted to get her back for not telling us that Paul and Frida was family… she even talked about making a stink bomb… but she just said that it probably was going to backfire on us, so she gave up on that idea… I just sat there listening to her talk and smiled…
She asked me why I was smiling. I told her that it was calming the hear her talk and it put me at ease. She blushed and said we get back to work… I saw she was smiling a little as she walked over to empty her tray…
We walked to the library where Ida and Luke was waiting for us. they had already started working on compiling a list. Mia sat down and worked on her own. I joined Luke and Ida working on compiling the patent list… it is boring work… we discussed how to write down the list and ended on using the invention name followed by a short description and reference to where it was found and estimated time the invention was made… like I said it is boring work…
We would have class in the morning followed by reading and writing down what we found in our notebooks. We double check if we could find it anywhere else and if it checked out we would write it down in the big books… after a month of tedious work we had filled over 6 books…
It would probably take me a full year alone, but Luke and Ida's help made us complete the library in just a month. Because they were so diligent I manage to visit Kelly in her broom testing. She had made a couple of tweaks to the broom… she had equipped a folding seat with footrest on it… she explained that it would help for longer flights. She used a spell called living tree…
it was like a shape memory spell. She cast the spell and shaped a seat and the footrest and linked it to the control unit… so you could fold and unfold the seat at will… I got to try it and it was actually comfortable to ride… she handed me the first broom and said she was done testing it with couple of notes that she had taken when testing it. I had made her a private broom with the folding seat… she was so happy that she started flying right away… she flew for a short time but landed with a smile…
we made a couple more flying brooms with the modified version that the guards could stop with a single command. She delivered them to the castle and when she got back she handed me a letter from Paul... they had prepared the tree ceremony and was going to pick me and Mia up after school.
I invited Luke and Ida with us, and we were just finishing up the last work in the books. As I was finished writing I turned the book around and slide it across the table to them. Mia held my hand and smiled at me…
After Luke and Ida had read the last invention I added they looked up at me looking stunned…
"you made a flying broom?" Luke asked confused…
"do it clean better?" Ida asked also confused…
I told them to follow us and we walked outside there was a carriage waiting with Mitch standing outside smiling at us… I gestured for Ida and Luke to get inside and Mitch followed them… as he closed the door he said "see you there" smiling at us before closing the door… I could hear Ida ask if we were not going with them… as they started to drive away…
"you always find a way to make an entrance…" Mia smirked at me…
"would not be fun if I didn't…" I giggle to her as a guard handed us two golden brown brooms…
We sat on our flying broom and took off into the sky… feeling the wind flow around us as we rose up into the sky. We stopped after a little while… Mia looked nervus down before she looked at me. She seemed to calm down when she smiled at me. she hovered over to me and leaned her head on my shoulder…
"lovely view…" I smile to her…
"yes…" i see her smiling at me…
"ready to go and shake the foundation of humanity…" I giggle to her…
"just a little longer…" Mia looked up at me with her blue eyes…
I just took my hand and held around her looking out on the vast green landscape out in the distance… after a while I hear her sigh as she straightened herself… she looked at me and nodded with a smile… I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek… she blushed at me before she leaned over and kissed me… I was a little stunned, but she looked at me with her head tilted down…
"I know it is late but happy birthday…" she said blushing red at me and handed me a hand leather bracelet. I put it on my hand and smiled at it…
"thank you. I love it…" I smile to her…
She started to fly down to the ceremony. I looked down at the bracelet… she had made it herself. She had stitched my name on it with a hearth… as I deactivated the broom and was falling down towards the ground I could not help but to look at the bracelet and smile… I saw Mia had reached the podium… she landed gracefully. I could hear the crowd applause… well its fine to go overboard once in a while… right?...
Did I mention that I have been working on a barrage magic? Well, I have only tried it in small scale… and when I cast it creates small, compressed fireballs that explodes… well the ground is getting close, so I need to move…
I activate the broom and fly around the people at high-speed making a big circle… I see Mia smirking and giggling at me… I put my foot back at the straw end of the broom and brake my speed vertically towards Mia… I see Paul and Frida taking a few steps back at me flying towards them. Mia stands still smirking at me… I stop an inch in front of her smiling and the crowd gasps… as I elegantly step of the broom before I kiss her on the cheek… and whisper to her…
"love you…" I see her blush and looks at me stunned…
As I hear the crowd started to applaud I turn towards them bowing… I stretch the palm of my hand up in the air smiling to the crowd… I started casting the barrage spell… everybody calmed down and looked at me standing there with my hand up towards the sky… I make my broom hover in place and let go of it… I look out at everybody that was looking at me quiet waiting for me to speak…
"Citizens of Embar… the darkness have announced that they are at war with us…" I say out loud to them… I hear they start to mumble and some look scared at my words…
"Do not be afraid!... I have been sent her by the Goddess of Nature to bless your city with the protection of the vine tree… and I have created flying brooms to help Mother Nature fight the Darkness… My only condition is that my inventions is not used against each other… but to fight the corruption and Evil that dared invade our world… I will stand on the front lines to protect not only humanity but the entire World…" I say yell out towards the stunned crowed…
"but what can you do against the darkness… your only a kid…" one man asked as the crowd got quiet and looked at me still holding my hand in the air… you could hear the quiet wind blow gently as they waited for me to speak…
"I might be a kid… but don't think for a second that I am weak…" I smirk at them using my other hand gesturing everybody to look up…
I saw everybody started to look up and as they did their eyes got wide… I smiled and looked up at millions of tiny, compressed fireballs hovering just above the city… it looked like a carpet of tiny lights…
"Let the Vine Tree Ceremony Begin!" I called out and shot the fireballs high up in the air…
Ka-Boom!...
The fireballs exploded and made the entire sky light up with fire and sparks… the shockwave hit a few seconds later gushing down to the ground making everything vibrate and shake as the warm wind from the millions of explosions reached us…
When the blast wave ended the crowd erupted in cheers and the applause filled the city again..
"show off…" Mia came smiling to me…
"d… don't you think that was a little overkill?" Kelly asked stunned looking up at the sky before looking at me…
"I see why you said my army would not stand a chance…" Paul said stunned at me…
"eh… that was just fireworks…" I smile awkward at them…
"fireworks… you mean… that was the lowest power you had on that spell…" Kelly asked looking terrified at me…
"eh… well I did create a million tiny fireballs so I would not say it was the lowest power…" I explained still smiling awkward…
I saw them look at me stunned… but pff… who don't like fireworks it looks cool… I figure I can create around a billion of those if I need to… but again, I don't want to be Prince Armageddon…
I walked over to were Kelly had said they wanted the vine tree and started to cast the Vine summon spell… just like last time the vines grew into a big vine tree with a sunflower on top… the ground was shaking as it grew, and the people had taken a few steps back from the weird sight of vines growing together and stretched high up into the sky…
When I was done I looked up at the tree and smiled… Mia walked to my side and held my hand… I looked at her confused as she pouted to me… I saw she glanced towards the crowd and there was a group of young females looking at me… I looked back at Mia who was a little upset…
"you know it is only you I want… beside we are married." I giggle to her…
"hmf and don't forget it…" Mia pouted to me but looked up at me with her blue eyes…
I just kissed her gently on the cheek and smiled at her…
"they will only think we are friends if you do that… I want you to kiss me…" Mia looked at me firmly and pouted…
"but we are in public…" I blushed at her…
"so, you don't want anyone to know we are married…" I see Mia look at me sad…
I looked stunned at her… is she really that jealous? Eh… when I think about it she is the one that always kiss me… Fine… I don't care anymore…
I hold her in my arms, and I kiss her gently on her lips… I say gently but I think I just made out with her… when I stopped and smiled at her she looked like she was in a daze…
"better?" I smile to her and used my thumb to wipe her lip…
"hu…" she looked up at me blank…
"was it a good kiss?" I smile and asked her…
I see she touched her lips gently with her hand looking like she was dreaming… she was holding her tail with her other hand… she started to blush when she came back from her dream state…
I just smirked to her and grabbed her hand.
"happy now…" I asked her still smirking…
"uhm…" she manage to mutter out blushing and smiling at me…
We walked back to the others and I see Frida and Lisa smirking with big eyes at us… I guess they are the one that put her up to it… Paul was smiling proud at me like always… I guess this is where mom get her quirks from…
I see a guard talk to Paul as we walk towards them… his face turned serious as the guard talked… he glanced over at me indicating we needed to talk… I walked over to Frida and Lisa and told them to look after Mia… Frida had noticed Paul and the guard, so she nodded worried at me… Lisa was just smirking at Mia still dazed from the kiss… I walked over to Paul and listen to the guard…
They have gotten a report that beast had started to move towards a small town close to us… and the guard explained that if we could not help them they would be overrun… Paul looked at me worried..
"il go… send guards as soon as you can, I will try and keep them safe as long as I can…" I said to them..
"take the new unit with you. They have been training with the brooms you sent over and I will send some solders on foot to escort the people back to the city…" Paul said to me and waved over at some solders holding the booms in their hand…
I held my hand to my broom still hovering a few meters away… it came flying to my hand… yes I added auto retrieve on it… I mounted it and flew fast up into the air and started flying towards the direction Paul said to me… the guards followed behind me…
We flew at high speed for a couple of minutes… I had entered my Orb and turned up my spells to max power… it did not take long for us to reach the small town…
Hundreds of Dark beast with a black aura had almost circled the town… this is bad…
"take a protective stance around the town and shoot any beast taking a single step towards the town…" I said to the guards…
"Yes sir…" they said in unison and flew down towards the edge of town…
I landed in the middle of town and called out to everybody to form a group and gather around me… after they had gathered around me I ordered the tows watch people to start searching the houses for anyone still hiding and to escort them to the others, I told them we would hold of the beasts until everyone was together in a group so we could escort them to the city…
I was surprised how fast everybody was moving even some of the civilian men helped search the houses… I flew to the edge of town hovering in the air looking at the dark beast…
They seemed to notice me… like they knew how I was. I guess the bounty for my head from the invading god was still in effect… the captain said they could easily kill of the beast so the town would be safe…
"there is more coming… I sense a larger group 10 times the size of this coming towards us… our only job is to protect the people and make sure we get them to the city…" I told the captain…
He nodded and returned to his position… I saw a beast take a step forward and was reading to punce forward… I shot a vine blade directly on its head and killed it instantly…
The other beast growled at me… they looked cursed and mutated… there was even deer beast that had grown fangs and had black eyes… I heard one of the watchmen call out that the headcount was complete…
The captain flew down to him and talked to him before flying up to me…
"Sir. They searched all the houses, and everyone is accounted for, no one is left behind… your order?" the Captain looked at me.
"take the unit and surround those people and protect them. Don't let a single beast near them. And start escorting them towards Embar. I will follow at a distance and draw most of the beast attention on me." I said to the guard
He nodded to me and called the guards to circle the people and start moving out… the larger pack had emerged from the forest and joined the smaller pack as we started to move back towards Embar…
I stayed at the rear moving backwards at a slow paste… the people was walking and some of the elderly was moving slow… beside there was around 50 people walking in a huge group with the flying guards on the outside holding the same speed as the group…
The beast was following us and tried to launch small attacks on me from time to time… I killed them fast with the vine blade spell… they even tried to send smaller groups to flank the guards, but they got killed easily too…
I saw the Alpha beast howl out in a dark roar… before I knew it the beast started to attack relentless… I fended them off with my vine blades and yelled to the guards to keep moving and protect the people…
I fought like this for hours. the beast was mainly focused on me only a handful of beasts tried to attack the people. But I was ready to step in if they needed me, but the guards were able to kill them without getting injured…
A platoon of solders had meet up with us and had surrounded the group of people giving them better protection form the beasts…
The beast was too close to us for me to use barrage spell… so my only choice was to cast the vine spell over and over again… as Embar got into view the beast group was thinned out to about 500 beasts left…
The beast stopped moving but was still growling towards me… they seemed intelligent enuf to understand that we had won the battle… I could see the hate in the Alpha beasts eyes as he stared at me intensely… I just stared back firmly…
Before I knew it he shot a fireball towards me… I was stunned but I manage to cast shield to protect myself… I was flung a 100 meters backward from the blast and landed hard on the ground…
I little shaken I was kneeling on the ground holding one foot still firmly in front of me… I heard the captain call out… as I looked up I saw the Alpha had dashed towards me… time slowed down as I felt my rage build up in my body… that son of a #¤%&#%¤&¤#.... I cursed out loud and dashed forward punching the Alpha beast in the Head… I could hear his bones brake as my fist hit him on the head… I saw the force of my impact send him flying backwards into the pack of beasts…
"Captain… Start running…" I yelled out angry…
