Chapter 1: Love and Ice Cream(Part 1)

Elisse's POV

Rrrriiiiinnngggg!!!!

"Where is that darn phone?!" I shouted as I frantically looked for my phone with my eyes closed. My eyes burned from the beams coming from the sun through my windows. I cursed it as I continued to look for the phone. It kept ringing like crazy and I felt like my head is about to explode from its sound.

I finally found it under my pillow as I sat up. I placed it on my ear, pulling the sheets to cover my naked body.

"What?!!!!" I was totally annoyed as my head throbbed. I barely slept last night and the last thing I wanted right now was someone calling me early in the morning.

"Elisse, where are you? I have been trying to call you for the past half hour," I could hear the frustration in her voice. It was Heather.

"Hey, babe! Come back to bed," said a male voice beside me and his hands wrapped around my waist.

"Wait! Did you... Ohmigod! Elisse!"

"What? Trudy doesn't want him so I might as well get something from what we paid for," and I giggled as Jose's hand continued to explore under the sheets.

"Elisse! Focus! Trudy needs us."

I suddenly stood up from the bed, letting the sheets fall on my feet. My heart raced in my chest, as I think of so many things that could happen. I motioned for Josè to stop and I walked towards the door.

"What happened?" I said and took my robe behind the door while balancing the phone in my ear. I put the robe on and went straight to the bathroom.

I heard Heather sighed. This sounded serious.

"C'mon, Heather. Spill it!"

"James dumped her," she finally said.

"What?! When? Why?"

"Just come here. I can't stop her from crying."

I suddenly heard a loud wailing like somebody just died. It rang hard in my ear.

"Okay, I'll be there. Is Jane there, too?"

"Not yet. She said she will be here soon. But her family doesn't know yet. She called us first."

"Okay. Wait for me! Just do everything to keep her calm."

"I already told you, I can't."

"Did you try ice cream?"

"She ran out of ice cream. We ate them last night remember?"

"Okay. Let me get some. See you. Be there in a few minutes," and I hang up the phone. I jumped in the shower quickly. As soon as I got out of the bathroom, I saw Josè, sitting on the bed all dressed up.

"Everything okay with the bride?" he asked.

"No. I guess you're right about that."

"I told you I'm an expert. Anyway, I got to go."

"Thanks for last night."

"No problem. I had fun. You're good."

I smiled and said, "Don't forget your tip. Wait!" I was about to get my wallet when he waved his hand at me.

"Hey, no need! I told you, it's enough for me that I still got what you paid me for. I am just hoping the bride will be okay."

"She will. She just needs some time."

"They all do, Hon. They all do," and he walked out of my bedroom. I walked with him and opened the front door for him. He gave me a peck on the cheek.

"You know, Elisse, you could be a great partner. I know you don't believe in that stuff, but I hope someday you would. Bye for now."

I waved goodbye to him as he went to the hallway towards the elevators. I closed the door behind me and went straight to my bedroom to dress up. Josè was the escort we hired last night for Trudy's bachelorette party. Being one of the bridesmaids and closest friends, I was given the honors to plan a bachelorette party for Trudy. So, I decided to hire Josè for her to have a fun night before she gets married in a few days.

He was supposed to give an amazing night to Trudy, but he ended up in my bed instead. I guess I couldn't resist his gorgeous body and instead of throwing away money, and me, in the influence of alcohol, I just decided to bring him home with me.

Some may call it careless, but not me. I have lived by myself all my life and I guess by now I knew who to trust. Josè definitely is nice and easy to talk to. I guess that's the reason why he is an escort. He is supposed to let his clients feel good.

After brushing my teeth, I dressed up quickly in jeans and a white shirt, grabbed my purse and keys, and walked out. It's a good thing CVS is just a block away so I went inside and grabbed three cans of Ben and Jerry's. After paying the cashier, I went straight to Trudy's apartment ready to face a battlefield.

Sometimes, I just couldn't understand how someone could love so much to the point they want to die if that person leaves them. That's the scene in the living room as I walked in there. It's a good thing I live close by, just ten minutes away from her apartment while she and Heather are roommates for now.

Was this really a good idea? Was love really worth like this?

I wonder as I arrived at her apartment, wondering what I just walked into.

And the wailing started as soon as I arrived.

"I hate him! I hate him! I hate him! No, I love him. I love him. I love him," and she wailed again, clutching the letter in her hands. It was crumpled to the point it was beginning to break. "Whyyy?"

'What the hell really happened?' I thought to myself as I rolled my eyes and walked inside the room.
