That night, it rained, drizzling until the morning.

Purple Summers woke up early and the first thing she did was to check if her bird was dead.

Fortunately, the little fellow was unharmed. Compared to its wilted appearance the day before, it was now perky and alert, staring at her with a pair of shiny black eyes.

Purple opened the curtain and saw the wet windowsill outside, realizing it had rained.

"Lucky I brought you in yesterday; if I had waited another day, you would have been out in the rain all night."

She thought the little bird had good fortune, and they seemed to have a connection.

However, the odd thing was that the chick didn't seem to make any noise. She had read a lot about raising birds online the day before and thought that chicks would be endlessly chirping, but her bird was completely silent, as if mute.
