40 Mood Crashers

Chapter 40: Mood Crashers

Eliana struggled to calm her nerves. She momentarily kept her mouth shut, gritting her teeth together to suppress her anger. She calmed herself down. It would be bad if she let the negative emotions get the best of her.

Eliana looked at her straight in the eyes. "I beg your pardon?"

The girl raised her eyebrows from Eliana's fearless response. She hid her surprised reaction, not expecting Eliana to counter her challenge.

"Are you deaf? Hah." She smirked, crossing her arms. "I hate repeating myself but if this is what it takes for you to follow what I said- Stay away from the Ethereal Seven, weakling." She emphasized the last word with a smug smile.

Eliana's face remained blank, she was thinking of a way to avoid them and at the same time a way to retaliate smartly.

After a few seconds, Eliana smiled mockingly. "What was that again?" She sported an innocent look tilting her head to the side acting confused.

"Are you stupid?" The girl with brown hair said to Eliana, she then turned to the blonde girl. "Aelin, she's stup-"

The blonde girl raised her hand to shut the other girl. Aelin looked furious, her pink eyes remained trained on Eliana's mocking blue ones.

"What childish behavior you have, Eliana De La Felinar." She said in a hard tone.

Eliana's face turned blank. How did she know her? But at this point, she bet the whole school already knew her name. From her peripheral vision, she can see the prying eyes of the other students on them. Trying to see what the commotion was all about.

Thankfully, the Ethereals were seated at the very far opposite end from where they were. It would be troublesome if they get mixed up with the other students watching. If they were smart, they will avoid inclusion now.

"How flattering." Eliana's tone was sickly sweet which made Aelin frown. "You went heaps as far as knowing my name. I feel very honored for that Aelin, oh apologies, I mean Lady Aelin." Her sweet smile at the end made Aelin's frown deeper.

Aelin pondered for a second before matching Eliana's sweet smile. "Of course, the De La Felinar's comes from the line of royalty." She smirked. "To act like a sick commoner following the Ethereal Seven around in front of the public eye is utterly unroyal like."

Eliana laughed at her. "You dare pounce here, slam the table where I am eating and shout nonsensical things at me?" She huffed from the irony. "Now you're pointing out how I lack proper manners when you don't even have them yourself."

Eliana rubbed the bridge of her nose, shaking her head. She leaned forward to continue eating, completely ignoring the three. She was through wasting her time and energy for people like Aelin.

Eliana sighed, if only she brought her phone and headphones with her in this world. Only then she can block out unnecessary people.

While Eliana was eating without a care of the world, Aelin stood there still irritated. She wasn't threatening to Eliana and that thought made her furious. The strawberry blonde haired boy beside her placed a hand on her shoulder.

He gave Eliana a momentarily look before sighing to Aelin. "I told you this was a ridiculous idea Aelin. What do you think father will tell us once he finds out about this stunt?"

Aelin glared at him. She wanted to stomp her feet from the frustration but the boy was right. She clenched her knuckles while her eyes were shooting daggers to Eliana who ate calmly like nothing happened.

"Aelin." The boy said with an urgent look, he squeezed her shoulders. "We shou-"

"Let go Almend!" She shook his hand off aggressively.

With a last look to Eliana, Aelin stomped away sashaying across the room. The other two of her companions shared a troubled look.

"Follow her first Mynzi." Almend nodded to Aelin's direction. "She might do something reckless."

"Don't take too long, Almend." Mynzi said before leaving. "Aelin! Slow down!"

Almend's eyes followed Mynzi's retreating figure until she disappeared out the door. He sighed tiredly before shifting his attention to Eliana. The girl was still eating, half way done. He stood awkwardly there, unsure of what to say.

"Lady Eliana."

Eliana dropped her utensils on the plate. Almend cringed from the sharp sounds it created.

"What do you want?"

"I want to apologize."

"For what."

"On behalf of Aelin's actions."

"That rude girl?"

"... yes."

Eliana crossed her arms, her eyes staring straight to Almend. The guy looked harmless, in fact the aura around him was slightly similar to Jettam. She frowned at him.

"Why are you apologizing in her place? I recall you never did anything. She should be the one apologizing, not you." She pointed out.

He shook his head. "It's partly my fault, I wish I had stopped her earlier from acting rash. I reconsidered when she said she was just going to talk, on the other hand as you can see..." He scratched the back of his head. "It was more than just a talk."

"It was a verbal attack." Eliana leaned to the table. "She might need to check her dictionary about manners and talking, seriously." She made sure to show a bothered look.

Almend sighed. "I am aware, I am sorry. I'll be sure to correct her. Until then, will you accept my apology?"

Eliana stared at him for a few seconds. "No." She watched his expression dropped to disappointment. A thought came into her mind. "I'll reconsider, but she should give me a proper apology and not from you. Okay?"

He relaxed from the relief. "You are kind." He smiled.

Eliana shook her head, "You can leave now." She waved her hands for him to go. She stood up from her chair with the tray in her hands. With no other words, she left.

Leaving Almend behind.
