5 Another Test

Perseus POV

After the attack, the flight crew, surprise surprise, revealed themselves to be staff members assigned by the UPF to watch and scored our performance on the test, and they are to interfere if the angel went haywire and attacked us with intentions of taking our lives.

They then helped those on-site identify our luggage and get them first, we were then escorted onto this bus. Those who took off earlier were escorted by the airport staff to come back and find their items amongst the rubble of luggage as me and my brother find a seat on the bus while waiting for people to settle in, we were separated into 6 buses, 4 for the 4 academies and 2 for the military after our bus was full, it then took off.

The bus took us out of the airport without having us check in at an immigration booth and without verifying our travel documents, though the staff on the bus said they'll check it at our academy after we get settled in.

The bus was quiet, most of the people were napping due to exhaustion, the bus driver even turned on some soothing music, which relaxed me a bit since it should mean there were no other surprise tests, it should take about another hour to our academy, I tried to get a quick power nap, but it's not really working.

"Did we pass?" Shawn asked in a whisper to not wake people up

"Eh, probably. I think I did well enough to get a passing grade, you probably just barely passed by the skin of your teeth. But I don't think we should worry too much, I don't think they can expel any of those they deem failures either now that I think about it, we are all mostly new, and most of us shouldn't be expected to face the angel. The military units though might be different, they'd probably get tougher training to make up for their failure or cowardice."

"You really are made for this thing."

"...I'm not, I'm just making sure that I don't end up becoming someone's burden."

Shawn POV

It seems that he is still blaming himself for that incident, we both always wanted to become wizards ever since we were young, but to us, it was always an uncomfortable feeling everyday knowing that our peace was only from people out there sacrificing themselves for our sake.

The angels attack us everyday, and even though it wasn't as spread out as people expected, they are still dangerous, they come in droves at a time. However, there are exceptions, lone angels or several of them straying away from their group and attacking unprotected zones, we are expected to at least be able to handle those situations after we graduate. Or if we're good enough, we can be deployed into dangerous zones and defend Earth from the invasion of angels.

Our workload before the academy are a lot, and mine was even more so, I had to take extra classes to make up enough credits to graduate early, even though I could've graduated normally, Perseus wanted to join the academy early for the head start since they allow 17 years olds to be the minimum age for application, and since most people are trying to get that 1-year head start, I might as well do the same.

We then arrived at the academy, it was marvelous, I was just in awe at the sight.

As we approached the academy, I am struck by the sheer size and scale of the campus. Towering buildings and sprawling green spaces stretch out before me, creating an awe-inspiring, impressive, and beautiful sight. Especially the banners with rising phoenixes, it was beautiful, I feel disrespectful just describing it with words. The main building stands an impressive 10 stories tall, and that's considered short for buildings on this island.

The academy is surrounded by vast green fields of grass with beautiful trees and flowers where our seniors were resting and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. TM Island buildings are usually crowded and tall to fit within the small island, but the academy seemed to be the exception, and I also remember that the academy, instead of building it to be tall, it also has an underground and underwater facility, I can't believe that I'm about to spend my life here.

The staff then signaled the driver to make an alarm to wake everyone up and people then also took in the sight.

"Those with special needs and/or disabilities are allowed to leave first." the staff member announced while staring directly at our direction

"How many times do I have to say that I'm not blind?" Perseus mumbled under his breath I can see just fine."

"Well, they're gonna assume so with that black cloth wrapped around your head and covering your eyes, and if I were to have a penny for every white-haired guy with a blindfold covering his eyes, I'd have 2 pennies, whi-"

"Don't finish that sentence." he warned

He's complaining, but he accepted to get out first with me accompanying him, after everyone left the bus, we are then escorted to this super tall apartment building where they had us lined up at the reception to get our rooms. There were about a dozen lines with dozens behind the table working furiously to get us settled in. And sure enough, the receptionists are checking and verifying our travel documents like immigration officers.

"2 bedroom apartment, your room is on the 69th floor, room 42." The receptionist then handed us 2 cards "These are your student ID cards, if it gets lost or stolen, please contact us. Your doors have a facial recognition camera, look into your peephole and once you hear a beep, put your card to the same spot and it should unlock, once you're inside, you can change all that to a passcode feature if you prefer, there should be a manual.

"Once you settled in and rest, at 7:30 pm, please wear your uniform and head to the auditorium, we'll have the first-year orientation and afterward, you'll have another test there, have a great rest of your day."

Damn it, not another test.
