1 ***The Escape***

Onwa could hear the sounds of a struggle outside her room. Then came the sounds of feet running in the direction of a commotion. She could hear the sounds of battle on the lower level of their castle, right beneath her bedroom.

as she leaned closer to listen, Onwa heard the receding footsteps of the guard posted at her bedroom door. there was no time to waste it was now or never, the decision was made," either I leave now, or get trapped mated with that buffoon for the rest of my life" she whispered to herself.

And hurried in packing some essentials for the journey she planned to embark on, one in which there was no destination.

She packed some jeans, a few t-shirts, and four sets of undergarments and stuffed them into a backpack. Onwa was about to leave the prison She called a room, when a flash of sunlight bounced off of something metallic on her desk. The flash caught her eyes, she reached to picked it up, realizing it was her crescent hair chain. it was only a simple piece of jewelry with a crescent moon pendant hanging from it, but it was the most important thing she owned. the chain's worth was not in it's value but in what sentiments it held to her.

She felt a strong connection to it, And though She would never know the man who gave it to her as a baby, she loved it with every fiber of her been. Onwa's mother never spoke of him. The only time she'd spoken to her daughter about her father was the day she passed this chain onto the young girl. Onwa looked at the object on her desk, lost in thought as she remembered the words spoken to her by her mother on the day she handed her the chain."Onwa he loved you very much" she said. As she continued to dwell on her youth and happiness of the past.

She spoke with such joy and love in her voice, that it left Onwa speechless. For she had never heard her mother speak with such love and devotion before. it was an emotion She was certain her mother was incapable of feeling. the conversation came to an awkward end when Onwa asked her mother about my father's whereabouts.

Her mother's wicked chuckle could be heard echoing through the cold halls of the castle as she closed off once more, and became the cold, shrewd woman her young daughter had grown to see her as. No longer did a light shine in her eyes, as she said with a voice of steel "dead".

As her mother began to leave the room, she stopped at the door and said "he would be proud of the woman you've  grown up to be".

Onwa you were his pride and joy, his hope for the future, his precious (moon) was what he called you.

With those parting words she left the room leaving her daughter shocked, and confused. Not knowing if it was the same woman she grew up hating.

the memory of that night fades from her mind, she looked at the clock on the wall and realized that She had wasted five minutes of precious time. shoving the chain in the back pocket of her jeans she grabbed her leather jacket, and snuck downstair careful to avoid the war zone that was once her home and cadge. once clear from that area

Onwa snuck into the lower level of the castle, a place that had once been filled with prisoners, and enemies. only a few centuries ago, looking at this discarded area in the castle,She knew what she was looking for and where to find it. Onwas walked over to the wall on the left close to the bars of a cell. "I know it's here somewhere" she thought. With a pout on her face as she felt around the bricks for one with a crack and pushed, a little panel just big enough for a Great Dane to fit through opened. Onwa crawled through the passage easily then sealed in backup from the outside. This was a passage She'd discovered as a little girl playing stupid games. But, was now grateful that it now came in handy. She was almost certain that no one else in the coven knew of it.

Outside, the Coven was surrounded in forestry. It wasn't a huge amount of forest it was just enough to give a sense of privacy to the place, and quiet enough for the Coven to rest through the day. but even then the Coven was still close enough to civilization to survive off their blood.

She stood and looked at her surroundings for a few minutes in order to figure out what her next move would be. In the end, Onwa decided to head North. She can't really explain why it's just that something told her to go in that direction. for some reason, it just felt right and Onwa was the type of person who took her intuitions seriously. plus going south, east or even west, would mean a high chance of running into some of the Covens many allies, and getting into trouble. so she took off in the safest direction, running with great speed to clear the forest.

after running for half the day, clearing the forest in less than two hours. and flying 206 km to another forested areas . Onwa felt exhausted and needed to take a break, even for just an hour. It's been three days without nourishment and She needed some rest.

Onwa stopped by a lake as clear as a crystal. She could already tell that She would have to eat something soon, unlike the others Onwa couldn't survive on blood alone. She craved food, and she wasn't sure why. specifically meat, All her life she's had these cravings. "why can't I be more like the rest". She thought, then stopped at the memory of her mother's answer. "Onwa! don't be ridiculous, stupid child it's because you were born not made", she would say.

Onwa rolled her eyes As the faint memory drifted away and refocused her attention on her surroundings. That when she realized that the forest was suddenly quiet, too quiet. then In the silence she heard the sound of a twig being snapped from somewhere behind her.

Onwa turned and slowly retreated from the sound. "could it be the Coven," she asked herself.

but even as She thought of the possibilities of being found by them so soon. Onwa knew it wasn't, She just felt it.
