"Why are you suddenly asking me about that?" Mrs. Kim asked tight-lipped as she dressed up Tan's wounds.

"Because I need to know exactly what happened," Tan said, wincing when she dabbed his wound with alcohol.

"I'm not interested in talking about it. Let's talk about something else," Mrs. Kim said, moving away from him after she applied a bandage to his broken nose.

"Mom... I'm not supposed to tell you this because Mi Cha insisted we keep it away from you, but if telling you will make you open up, then I have to. Someone is blackmailing Mi Cha, and she says it's her birth mother... how did you end up adopting Mi Cha, who isn't an orphan?" Tan asked in a very quiet voice.

The blood drained off Mrs. Kim's face when she heard this. "How long has this been going on? Why didn't she tell me about it?" Mrs. Kim asked as she frantically searched around for her phone to call Mi Cha, but Tan stood up and placed his hands on her shoulder to hold her in place.
