Chapter 18: Melissa's POV: I didn't mean to come back so late

The old man suddenly stood up and started walking out, well not before throwing me a dirty look. ' Seriously old man, you even brought home a blondie and I didn't say a thing and you have the guts to behave like this.' I watched him walk out of the door, his assistant was saying something to him but he just entered the car. He didn't seem to like it very much that I left him to go met Laim but whatever I don't care.

Liam stayed at the coffee shop helping out, he wanted us to hang out after I was done in the cafe and he knew I wouldn't come if he didn't make me. I smiled as I watched him carrying a tray and walking hurriedly to serve a customer, Liam had done this a lot so he was good at it but still, watching him do it felt good. I could see many girls staring at him, Liam was not only handsome and smart but well built. He returned to the coffee bar and saw me smiling, he was sweating now and was wiping his face with his handkerchief.

" Hmmm... Okay Lis, what's with the smile." He asked smiling back at me. " You just look so cute serving coffee, I think I should just hire you then I'll be having many female customers. Look over there" I was nodding towards the girls and grinning and he couldn't help but laugh. " You seriously right now?" He asked still laughing. "Of course, who knows you may find your soul mate here, You've been single for almost all your life. " I winked at him. "I don't want any girl besides am in love with someone." came his reply as he winked back. " Common Liam you've been saying that since high school, when are you ever gonna tell us who the mystery girl is" I was pouting now, Liam has been saying this since high school. He always said he had a girl he was in love with but never tell us who the girl was, At first Hads and I suspect dozen of girls but non of them turned out to be her so we concluded he kept saying that because we were nagging him to get a girlfriend. " You'll see" was all he said as he carried another tray, I watched him go and smiled.

I closed the coffee shop early since I had promised Liam we would hang out, I called Hads to join us and she came and met us at a karaoke restaurant. We sang, ate and played games. I kept checking my time because I didn't want to get into more trouble with the old man but Hads and Liam wouldn't let me leave just yet

' Wait, why should I even care, he goes out and comes out whenever he wants so why can't I do the same.' I thought and with this, I convinced myself I could do whatever I wanted.

We ended up staying out till 11 pm, when we got out I was about to call Gab but he was already outside. " Hello ma'am, Hello Hadassah"

" How did you know I was here Gab? " I asked him but he just ran a hand through his hair with a smile.

" Lis, what's going on here? Who is he? Is he stalking you?" Liam was already walking towards him angrily.

" It's alright, Liam he's a friend. " I rushed towards Liam quickly and pulled him back. " A friend I don't know? Nah that can't be true. Tell me who this dude is Lis, is he your new boyfriend?" He asked, the anger visible in his voice. I was sure he won't be able to complete the next sentence since he was already so angry. He glanced at Hads but she looked down instead.

" No Liam!! He's a friend okay?" I tried again but Liam was already angry. He knew something was going on he didn't know about, he looked at me for a while and turned towards his car. Hads squeezed my hand and whispered " I better go with him" I nodded in agreement.

" Liam please wait up," Hads called but he kept walking, I bet he felt Hads and I betrayed him together.

" Common Li, let's talk about this please." He turned around suddenly "Talk? you don't want to talk. Call me when you want to." He entered his car and waited for Hads to enter, he asked her something and she nodded her head before driving off.

I ran a hand through my hair frustrated, I forgot Liam didn't know about Gab else I would have called him beforehand. How long can I keep this from him, am sure he would try to find out everything about Gab so how long do I have before he finds out everything? I'll need to look for a way to tell him about it myself before he does.

I walked towards the car, Gab held the door for me as I entered.

" Seems you didn't tell your friend about Mr Kelvin," Gab commented as he drove. " I don't know how to make him understand and I don't want him to piss off Mr Kelvin," I replied as I closed my eyes and leaned my head backwards. " Can I say something, ma'am?" I nodded then realised he couldn't see me so I answered yes " Wouldn't it be better if you told him yourself than him finding out?" I was quiet for a while before giving him an answer. " Yes Gab" I sighed.

The rest of the ride home was quiet but a rather comfortable silence. I kept thinking about how to explain myself to Liam the next day.

When we got to the house and I stepped out of the car my heart suddenly started beating fast, I brought out my phone and checked the time nervously. All the I don't care attitude was gone now. ' What was I thinking? '

" Okay, maybe I came back later than I had intended to," I muttered nervously as I walked in. As usual, he was sitting on the couch with some documents.

" Hello Mr Kelvin, am so sorry am back late." I went on to apologise before he could say anything. But he didn't say anything instead he just kept looking at me.

" It wasn't intentional, I lost track of time while hanging out with my friends." I tried to explain again.

" Welcome back wife, I thought you weren't coming back today" He finally replied as he stood up and made to go to his room. I should have let him go quietly but the words slipped out of my mouth before I realised it " Why are you so upset sir? It's not like I question you about when you come back?" He turned around at this, looking at me angrily and walking towards me till he was standing in front of me. " Still, Is this the time should you be coming back? " I was completely shocked at his tune, it was low yet it sounded so manly. Something about his voice made me hold my breath and I could help but look at his eyes, it was the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.
