I eyed Evren's room door and started walking away with quick steps so that no one sees me. I didn't know my way out of here and it felt like I was walking in circles. Just as I took another turn I saw Agnes coming from the other side and I sighed in relief.
She placed her hands on her chest smiling when she saw me. "I almost thought something bad must have happened to you madam." She said as she reached me and I smiled back at her.
"Where have you been?"
"I lost my way when I finished my prayer and I've been walking since then." I lied with a straight face for the first time in my life. I never thought a day would come when I would have to lie to save myself.
"But the ritual doesn't end till now." She muttered.
"I guess the leaves burned off early and I left since there was nothing left to do." I smiled and she nodded. I would kill Evren when next I see him for putting me in this situation, I swear.
