"Midas," Agnes whispered to see the scared girl turn to look at her. She had expected Adara to come back to somehow tell her about the lady's plans but Adara was yet to return. She had no idea where her new madam had gone to and she hoped she was alright. She didn't even dare to face Adara, not after everything she did.
Agnes felt bad she had lied to Adara and also betrayed her. She only thought about her promotion and saving her life at the time and the task she was given. She didn't think Dalton or the lady would try to kill her if she failed. Though she has heard a few things about them, she never knew such would befall her.
Agnes still had a few bruises left on my body.
