Xia Jiannan tore his gaze away from Wang Rouxi's pain-stricken face to stare at Lu Yizhi's back profile with a questioning look.

At a time like this, why would her subordinate want him, someone who he barely knew, to kiss Wang Rouxi?

Lu Yizhi could feel Xia Jiannan's gaze on him, and he immediately knew what the latter was thinking.

"Oops, I misspoke. Please monitor her heart rate and breathing. Perform CPR if necessary." He shifted gears. They were now close to their destination.

Adjusting his position, Xia Jiannan made sure to keep applying firm pressure to the wound with one hand as he reached out his fingers to lightly press the side of Wang Rouxi's neck, just below her jawbone.

'So he is now the CEO of Xia Corporation, huh?' Lu Yizhi thought to himself as he watched Xia Jiannan's every move through the rearview mirror.

He had seen him before, a few years back, inside their headquarters. He hadn't changed much, appearance wise, from the last time he saw him.

What was he doing there again at that time?

But this was not the time to be thinking about this because a security personnel had flagged down their car.

"Mr. Xia." Lu Yizhi called out.

Xia Jiannan didn't need Lu Yizhi to explain as he rolled down the window and faced the guards.

"Let us through." He said, looking at them with his usual cold stare.

The security guards immediately stood at attention when they saw their boss and saluted him, "Sir!"

They did not waste a second and hurriedly let them through, but they couldn't help wondering why and how he was out. Didn't he come back earlier?

Xia Jiannan left without them knowing? Wasn't that a huge blow on them?

Their boss, unaware of his subordinates' thoughts, felt a sense of deja vu.

Xia Jiannan remembered that time when Wang Rouxi sent him back to the Xia Family's Old Residence, he did the same thing. The robot-like woman then gave her a goodbye kiss.
