Or was it really a false alarm?

Xia Jiannan pinched the bridge of his nose and shrugged. He must have been too paranoid after seeing those dead bodies in the living room.

But just as he was about to turn around once more, he saw something unusual out of the corner of his eye.

Tiny dots formed a trail leading towards the walk-in closet, its distinct crimson color striking on the pristine white floor.

Xia Jiannan walked closer and crouched down to get a better look. He reached out a finger towards a tiny red dot on the floor, but before he could touch it, Wang Rouxi pulled the door of the walk-in closet open.

"Mr. Xia?" She called out.

Xia Jiannan looked up and saw Wang Rouxi now wearing a charcoal coat and black overalls.

'That's fast!' He thought to himself.

His mother would spend more than half an hour getting ready, that's why he didn't expect for Wang Rouxi to get changed so quickly.

Wang Rouxi disregarded the look of surprise on Xia Jiannan's face, and she focused her attention on his outstretched hand. There, she noticed the drops of blood she left behind, but she showed nothing on her face as she asked, "What are you doing?"

"Nothing." He hastily replied.

Xia Jiannan stood up, but not before running his index finger over that red substance on the floor. He nodded at Wang Rouxi and acted like nothing had happened.

"Let's go?" He asked her after a moment of silence.

His actions didn't escape Wang Rouxi's keen eyes, but she said nothing about it.

"Wait."
