Fairytales

Chapter Ten

Fairy tales

Dais slammed into the wall of the tunnel, breathing heavily. He had run all the way from his room to this far off branch of his steel labyrinth. "What in the seven hells man?" His inner voice screamed at him. "She almost saw that smile..... saw your face! You know she will never come back if she sees your face." He nodded, clutching his head as he rested it on his knees.

"She looked as if she wanted to kiss me..." he muttered, closing his eyes tightly. Gods, how he wished that was what he had seen in her face. "She almost kissed me."

"Boy, allow me to make this as monosyllabic as remains possible. A woman like that will never fall for a man like you, never. Forget these fantasies, you know as well as anyone fairy-tales do not exist. Forget it, you don't want to get hurt do you?"

Dais slowly shook his head, body shaking from a mixture of nerves and sadness. "No, I don't want that."

"Good, then we are agreed. Forget it."

In the dark of the tunnel, Dais tried to forget that look she gave him moments before.
