1 For the Future

Elijah Shields just reached home it was early July the height of summer the temperature was around 32c his room still looks the same except the clean laundry and bed, which are freshly take care of.

Walking back down stairs he notices there is still some time before his mum gets back he decides to take a nap also a shower to freshen up it that takes about 10 minutes to finish showering,

lying on the bed he looks at the picture of Ronaldo by the wall still looking good as ever remembering the 2002 world cup that he fell in love with the Brazilian, the nap was longer than he thought, it was 4:30 pm by the time he woke up, proceeded to watch some t.v to keep busy.

Some 20 minutes later the living room door is opened by a 5,6 ft. browned haired ,blued eyed woman, wearing a light Grey top and knee length black skirt she walks in with a briefcase and a cup this happens to be Joy Shields his mum, she is a lecturer at the University of Newcastle, the only daughter of Paul Shields and Mary Shields, she has been a single parent since his father disappeared a few years ago.

he walks up to her

"mum have missed you " he smiles has he hugs her

"did you?" she paused " looks like you enjoyed Mexico how was your flight" she asked

"of course I did, it was good mum but the mood wasn't particularly good cause we didn't get past the round of 16" he answered with a sad face

"it wasn't too bad you boys tried your best " she patted his shoulders to encourage him

"yes we did but doesn't make us feel any better we are still nothing but losers" he added "plus I didn't get to play"

he drops the briefcase by the shelf

"you will next time" she declared "you must be hungry food will be ready soon"

"okay mum missed your cooking a lot"he answered

he returns to the sofa to keep watching T.V, while his mum gets busy in the kitchen after she is done she takes a quick shower and calls him to the dinner table.

They talk about a few things that happened in Mexico then she asks "what do you plan on doing next"

he plays for Newcastle u17 youth team he was offered promotion but he knows he will end up going on loan " have been thinking about it over the past few days have not made up my mind yet"

she looks him in the eye and says "you don't have to worry much about money just get a good club that will allow you display your talent "

"I know mum but it has to be balanced the next club I sign for has to be able to promise me regular playing time with decent opposition also "

"your grandpa is coming over tomorrow to give you a list of suitable clubs"

"I will discuss with him tomorrow then Good night Mum"

"good night dear".

He heads to his room thinking tomorrow should show a clearer idea for the future.
