Maybe it's best you leave me alone

I was making my way back toward the kitchen when the doorbell rang. Uhh more company I was definitely not in the mood to deal with anymore of Brian's friends especially on an empty stomach. I made my way through the foyer to the door. Luella stood on the landing shaking out her umbrella with her back to me. "

"Hey what are you doing here?" I said surprise etched in my voice

"Didn't you get my text? I said I was coming over."

"Oh sorry I haven't even looked at my phone things have been sort of hectic and have only just calm down."

"What's been up? Hopefully nothing with your step-brothers?" she said raising her eyebrow at me.

She was always assuming when something was wrong, that it had to do with my brothers or Maria. I mean my top problems usually stem from them so shes not off in her assumptions. Sense she knew Maria wasn't here, assuming it was her was out of the question. I couldn't very well tell her what happened this morning or she would go ape shit and I really didn't want to deal with that. She stepped in kicking off her shoes and closed the door behind her.

"Nope we just have a guest who's a friend of Brian's and a pain in my ass."

"Well that's nothing new. When are Brian's friends not a pain in your ass?"

She followed me as I made my way to the kitchen finally getting to eat.

"Ha-ha very funny you haven't heard who it is. Finally I get to eat I could feel the stomach acid burning at my stomach lining."

"Yay! Just in time for lunch I'm starving too!"

"I knew it you only like me for my cooking, you always know when to come over!" I said clutching my chest and feigning hurt.

"Yes it's true I only like you for your cooking. How did you know?"

"That makes two of us." Adam said coming into the kitchen holding his plate.

The look on Ell's face was priceless. She looked like a wide eyed kitten, her head turned to look between the two of us. Her eyes finally stayed on me.

"Don't tell me the pain in your ass right." she said getting over her astonishment.

"Is that how you talk about me?"

Ell and I shared a look.

"Yes" we responded at the same time.

He frowned at me as Ell walked over and began doing the same as me, making her own sandwich.

"Most girls would be throwing themselves at me." Adam said walking over to the counter setting his plate down.

"We're not most girls." I said picking up my plate and taking a seat at the table.

He mumbled under his breath before walking out of the kitchen.

"Oh he's a charmer." Ell said coming over to take a seat next to me.

"Yes that's what looks can do for you, it's when you open your mouth that the illusion is shattered."

I took a bite of my sandwich and looked up to see Ell staring at me.

"What is there something on my face?" I asked reaching up to touch my face.

"No silly, it's just that you say really wise things sometimes."

"Why thank you, I fancy myself a wise woman of the woods at times."

"And then you say things like that, that make you my best friend."

"Awe Ell, I love you too." I rubbed her head and finished eating my sandwich.

I stood up and took my plate over to the sink and began washing it and other dishes that I had used. Ell came over and began helping me. For a moment we worked in silence, but then Ell spoke.

"So how does your step-brother know prince Adam?" she asked drying the dish I handed her.

"I don't know school maybe, they could be old friends I'm not all that interested in the personal lives of idiots."

I handed her another dish and set out to clean the last one. The sound of foot steps entered the kitchen as I handed Ell the last of the dishes.

"Well well didn't know you were here Ell or I would have been out here sooner."

"Don't trouble yourself cause its never going to happen." ell said putting up the last dish and turning around.

"Don't flatter yourself sweetheart there are plenty of girls out there you would love to have a chance with me, so why not drop the act and give in. You know you want me."

"Darling Brian if there are as many girls out there as you say, who you claim to want you, why don't you go get one, and stop bothering me. And as for wanting you, I wouldn't want you even if you were the last man on earth and we were the only people left to populate."

I stifled a laugh, Brian's eyes darted over to stare at me and a evil little smirk begin to play at his lips.

"Vicki don't bother with making dinner just make sure there's enough snacks to entertain guest. We're going to have ourselves a party."

He left the kitchen not bothering to hear any of my protest.

"This is possibly the worst idea ever, in the history of ever. He's going to party while I'm going to be stuck making sure people don't break or ruin anything."

"Tory don't sweat it just have a pool party and all you have to do is route skank's and meatheads to the indoor pool area and not worry about the mess."

"What would I do without you?"

"Be a bubbling puddle of tears on the verge of a nervous break down, but don't worry I'm sure you would have thought of the same thing once you stopped freaking out."

I whipped out my phone and texted Brian the details.

"Okay, so lets plan this quickie party."
