Chapter 9

Filled with confidence after cursing out Orion, Melony was no longer afraid of causing any damage, she could just blame Orion.

"Alright, let's do this, no holding back!"

"This is why I like you Mel! Such a fire that no one else had!"

Melony started adding more and more power to Orion, giving them enough strength to get the monster's hand off of them. The MINEL was pushed away from the facility with their strength, screeching in frustration. It came at them again but this time, the two were prepared and properly punched the monster.

"That's it! We got this Mel! we're going to have to use physical power, as I don't have my weapon with me. You think we can do it?"

"Ha! Now that I can blame you if anything goes wrong, we're invincible!"

"So you're confident because you can blame m-"

"Let's do this!" Pushing towards the mammoth, Melony wasted no time in closing the distance between them. Punching the monster again and again, they slowly began to wear it down. Roaring in pain, the beast began to charge up a new attack that Melony was unfamiliar with.

"What's it doing?"

"It's going to fire at us! Quickly, get under to avoid the beam!"

"Avoid? Not in my vocabulary!"

Against Orion's protests, Melony chose to jump up towards the beast's mouth and

face the laser head-on.

"Mel, what are you doing? We need to get away!"

"Heck no! We're doing this!"

Melony forced Orion to grab onto one of the monster's teeth, ripping it out and

throwing it towards its throat. In pain and agony, the monster couldn't fire the laser any more, leaving it defenseless. Using all the power they could, they punched the tooth deeper into the beast's throat, killing it.

"Let's get out of here now!" said Orion.

"Why?"

"Because it's going to explo-" But he was too late, and the monster exploded, it's

blood pushing them away like a great tsunami.

Back in the control room:

Everyone stood in shock at what they had just seen. A completely untrained, unaware, and unknown pilot had defeated a mammoth class MINEL. It was crazy, it was unheard of, and frankly, it was embarrassing. The trainee pilots that had walked into the room during the fight were furious.

"Why didn't you send us out there?"

"We were literally right here!"

"You let that freak who kills people go out there?"

"Do you know who my father is?"

Their sounds of protest only made the Principal's headache worse. As the Principal for the new pilots, he was also embarrassed at this sight.

"Stop fighting and listen up!" He shouted, "We didn't say that he could go out there alright! If you wanna blame anyone, blame him for not listening to orders!"

Although they were not completely satisfied, they had someone to blame, so most of them were happy.

"You think that's enough?" One of the trainee pilots said. He stood proudly towards the Principal, with an annoying arrogant look.

"My father is the top pilot for the 'Virtues", and you think it's ok that the freak can just run amok like that?" He said.

"Listen, we didn't tell him to do that, and don't speak to me with that tone!"

"Oh yeah, the pathetic Principal with no power at all is trying to tell me what to do? I should be telling you that. It's not like you got this position from your own achievements."

Everyone else in the room gulped as the tension grew. No one knew what to do, until Melony's voice broke the silence.

"Uh, hello there! This is- What do I say again? . . .-This is Orion coming in, requisitioned to dock."

The Principal answered,

"ARKAngel, you were not permitted to attack! What is your excuse?"

Orion answered him.

"Our excuse? Those failures called 'pilots' are the excuse!"

"How dare you! This a direct order from the Principal of the 32nd Choir of ANGELS, I demand that you dock immediately! We will deal with your punishment later!"

"Ha! As if you're qualified to punish us! Are you going to use your brother's achievements to do that as well?"

"You little! Hey! We're are you going? Come back here immediately! Don't you think abou-" Orion manually cut him off.

Back on the battlefield:

"Should you have cut him off?" Melony asked.

"It doesn't matter, he's been acting like the Principal for that Choir even though he's getting fired soon."

"Is he getting fired from this?"

"No, he got caught watching some, uh, adult content."

"Damn . . . what a sick bastard!"

"This is why I like you."

They laughed and walked back to a different dock, away from the one the soon to be ex-Principal told them.
