Chapter Fifteen

Tyler's POV

Kayla was soundly asleep in her bed, as well as the kids. We were lucky that Kayla had found the motor homes, because I don't think we be able to keep walking for long and plus we would have to find shelter somewhere. We couldn't be out in the night without directions and we wouldn't be able to see in the dark. Yeah, I know Kayla can sense them it's obvious to me, but not the others at least I don't think they know. Anyway, Kayla had told me to wake her up when it was her turn to take over, but she so tired that she fell asleep before her head hit the pillow. So, I'm telling her sleep for a while longer.

I saw the sign that said that we were leaving Missouri and went over the bridge that separated us from our destination. We had been on the room for almost a week and we only had to kill two people. Well, Kayla had killed them human not Walker's and I know that is bothering her that's why she doesn't want to fall asleep, but she looked fine at the moment. I saw the sign that said Welcome to Colorado and I was nervous, but at them same time I was extremely happy.

Now, all we had to do was fine the place. I grabbed my talkie "Mark," I said through it.

I waited for a while "Yeah," he said.

"Where's the academy?" I asked him hoping he had gotten the name of the place,

"Lakewood," he told him.

Lakewood, where the hell is that? I don't know Colorado that much, but I sure as hell didn't know where that was. "Where the heck is that?" I asked him.

"Take highway 285 and keep going till you see the exit of 121, then turn left on W Jefferson Ave turn right to S Teller St at the end of the street take a left to S Pierce St, third entrance on the left," he said.

I was impressed "Dude did you look the place us or something?" I asked him.

I heard him chuckle "I was thinking of going there after graduating from high school, but then the world came crashing," Mark said through the talkie. I knew how he felt, because Kayla and I had been planning on going to Art or Music school after high school. Now, we couldn't do anything except survive.

I drove down the highway looking for the exit that Mark had told me about and a couple of hours later on the road I saw it and I was going to it so fast that I didn't see that it was blocked "Shit," I yelled and pressed the breaks fast and hard. I know that sounds wrong, but the damn pedal keeps fighting me. I could hear the screeching on the road and I lost control of the wheel, but soon got it back to gather. The motor home had stopped right in front of the blockade on the exit. I was breathing heavily and I knew Kayla was awake she was going to give me hell for this.

Kayla's POV

I was jolted awake by the screeching and the motor home doing a 360 once. What the hell was happening? I saw as Tyler fought to keep the motor home in control and was able to. My heart was beating fast and it felt like it wanted to beat out of my chest. I looked over at the kids and Jasper and Jace were holding on to each other for support. Tyler was breathing heavily and I knew that he knew that I was awake and knew I was going to give him hell.

I got off from the bed and walked over to where he was "Tyler, you ok?" I asked him looking over at him checking of he had any injuries. I looked out the window and saw that the exit he was going to take was blocked with lots of cars in the way making us unable to keep going.

Tyler took a deep breath "Yeah, I'm pitchy. What about you and the kids?" he asked me.

I looked over at the kids and saw they were fine a little shaken up "I'm fine and so are they just a little shaken up from this," I told him looking at him in his violet eyes; my eyes.

He sigh "I was going fast and thinking about what I was going to do after high school, when I was going to take the exit I didn't see the cars so you the rest," he told me.

"Tyler, what happened?" we heard a familiar voice ask.

I grabbed my talkie from where I had placed it last night "We're fine just a little trouble at the exit. It's blocked too many cars in the way we can't get through them, unless we want to have a 'crushing car' competition, but I don't think we have any motor home left for us," I said.

I waited "What do we do?" I heard James ask.

I sigh "I don't like it, but we'll have to walk from here so get your things ready and be out in five minutes," I said in the talkie. It was night time and I knew Tyler hadn't woken my up for my turn. I looked and glared at him.

He put his hands up "Hey, I wanted to let you sleep. You looked dead tired, so forgive your brother for wanting to sleep a while longer," he told me and I couldn't help smiling and laughing at him.

I coughed trying to hide my laughter "Come on and help me get thing ready," I told him and went towards Jasper and Jace. I pulled them into a hug and I could feel their heart beating fast "It's ok. Tyler just had a little problem," I told them.

"We'll have to walk again," Jasper said and I could practically feel him and Jace pouting. This two are acting like brothers more each passing moment and I liked that they were getting along well.

I chuckled "Come on help us get ready, we have to be out in five minutes," I told them letting them go and getting things ready. We got our talkies, clothes, food, bottled water, and everything else we had brought with us. I had my shotgun, pistol, and my two knives. Five minutes later, we were all gather around. I could not feel any Walker's in this area and that was a good sign, because I could see Colorado didn't have any Walker's. "Let's go everyone," I said and started walking. Tyler had told me the direction we were going and I followed, but when we were nearing S Pierce St we were attacked.

Someone screamed and I turned to see a mob of Walker's coming our way and around us. "RUN," I yelled and started shooting to make a path for us. Three of my group were attacked and taken down for midnight snack. I tried to save how many of them I could, as everyone else shooting and the adults were running like chickens. Jace and Jasper were holding on to me, but I knew if they stayed with any longer they will be dead. "Ciara, Tyler," I called for them.

"Yeah," they said and walked towards me.

"Take them," I told them. I gave Jasper to Ciara and Jace to my brother. "Take them to our destination, but try and save how many people you can. I will do the same, but don't wait for me," I told them and walked over to a guy that was dodging the Walker's and shot the Walker's down, so that he could get through. I didn't have to look to know that the people we were trying to save were running to the direction the other was heading to. I only hoped they get there safely. I kept behind the group and the closer we got to our destination the more Walker's there were. What the fuck is going on? I thought Colorado was Walker-free this is a freaking massacre, I thought shooting and too soon I had to reload. I took out from ammo for my shotgun and reload it only to start shooting again.

I heard a scream of a man I knew too well. I looked over and Coach Martin fighting with the Walker's only to notice he was bit on his arm "No," I screamed and ran over to them killing them with only three shots for each one. I walked over towards Coach and saw he wasn't just bit on his arm. The Walker's had turned him into a chew toy; he had bites on his neck, face, arms, and chest. He was dead by the time I got there.

Dean's POV

I was on watch with Jake and Luke, when we heard the gun shots and the screams. I guess some people had made their way towards here not knowing there were zombies. I watched as the approaching zombies turned around and walked towards the shots were coming from. Poor bastard won't know what hit them; I thought my father was with us again watching Jake and Luke, since they were new at this.

Dad sigh "I feel sorry for them," he said and all of us heard him.

I nodded "I know that feeling," I said. We had placed lights on the gate and we could see the zombies, but something happened. The zombies were shot down by three guys running our way.

They were holding guys from what I could see, when they were in front of the gate. "Please, open," the guy with chocolate skin said. They one with black hair and the one with dirty blonde hair reloaded their guns. They couldn't be any older than seventeen.

"Open the damn gate," the dirty blonde guy yelled.

"Sam, stop fucking yelling," the blacked haired guy told them.

"Caleb?" I heard my father and the blacked haired guy looked up, when his name was called.

Confusion crossed his face, but recognition replaced it. "Mr. Anderson," he exclaimed.

"Open the gate," my father said.

"But…," dad cut Jake off.

"Open it," he hissed and Jake did as he was told.

The guy named Caleb ran to my father and gave him a hand shake "Thought you were dead, sir," he said.

Dad chuckled "I'm very much alive," then he frowned "Where's my son and daughter?" my dad asked him.

The three guys fell in silence, but the dirty blonde guy named Sam answered "Their fighting their way here. Kayla gave us a pathway for us, so that we could get here since were fast runner. Probably to say that more people are on their," he said looking out the gate,

"I just hope their ok," the chocolate skinned one said.

Sam smacked him in the back of his head "Mark, stay positive. You how Kayla is she's been bit before and it's not like she's going to turn into one of them. She'll be dead for an hour and she'll wake up like last time," Sam said. Did he just say that my sister was bit before? And she didn't turn into one of them? I thought.

"Guys stop taking and prepare yourself some people are making their way here," Caleb said and the guys were positioned on the open gate guns ready to shot if anything happened. I looked over and saw that five people were running this way, but I couldn't concentrate very well. I was still processing that Kayla has been bit before. The people that came were one guy and a girl with three adults. They were check by the three guys for any bits or scratches and if they didn't have any they let them pass. Screams still sounded in the distance, but they were close.

"Caleb, Sam I can see Tyler and Ciara," Mark said "But I don't see Kayla with them."

"What?" Caleb yelled.

Sam snorted "And you tell me not to yell," he said, but I could tell he was worried about her. I saw at the guy and girl running this way with kids in their arms. I could see Tyler my little brother and the girl Ciara near our gate, but zombies get in their way. I saw how he put the kid down and take on the zombies, while the girl grabbed the other kid and pulled out of the mess. She told them something and pointed towards the kids nodded and they ran. They were crying, but holding on strong.

They ran towards Caleb "Jasper, Jace where is Kayla?" he asked.

"We don't know. She told Tyler and Ciara to take us, because she didn't want us there," the one with dark blue eyes said.

"It's a massacre," the one with brown-green eyes said. Tyler and the girl named Ciara had already finished off the zombies that had attacked them, but Tyler had stopped when he saw our father.

"Dad," he yelled and ran over to him giving him a hug, as tears ran down his face. Dad held him tightly, before Tyler pulled away and looked at Ciara. "Take care of them," he said pointing at the kids and more people came this way getting checked the guys.

Ciara looked at him "Where are you going?" she asked him.

Tyler began walking towards the gate "Where else? To bring my sister back," he told her without looking back.

"Tyler, she'll be fine," Ciara told him.

Tyler turned around and looked at her "She can't get bit by them. You know what happens after she wakes up from the dead. She throws up blood and I sure as am not going to let her get bit," he said, when a scream echoed through out the place.

Every one of us looked in the same direction "To late," they said, but Tyler didn't react very well to it.

"NO," he yelled and started running out the gate only to be stopped by Caleb, Sam, and Mark.

Tyler fought them "Tyler, pull it together," they yelled, but he ignored them and kept fighting though he was loosing the fight.

Kayla's POV

Coach was dead and I just stood there waiting for him to walk up and when he did I shot him in the head my tears running down my face. I looked around me and saw that nobody was there, some where being eaten and others were just standing as still a pole. I have to get them out of here, I thought and got back to work. I shot a path for them getting attention from many Walker's.

When I had a path down towards the destination, I pointed towards it "Go and run like hell," I yelled at them snapping them out of their thought. They looked at me, but ran like I told them to. Now, the only deal was to get out of the mob of Walker's. I felt teeth sinking in my arm, shoulder, and neck. I screamed and it echoed through out the place that the people of the Academy could have heard me, but I fought them like I always did. I took out my knives and started decapitating Walker's left and right.

When I got out of the mob, I started to run though the effect of the infection was taking its toll on my body again. I felt the fever and my body starting to shake from it. I decapitated some of my groups that had turned without mercy and kept running. I ran five miles towards the gate and I could see it, because it had lights on and I could see some of my friends who had stopped to look at me. They were shocked, but I didn't pay attention because I felt some Walker's coming my way and like magic they had come out from the woods.

"Fuck you," I yelled and started to fight them. I brought my left foot up and kicked one in the face, while I turned into a 180 and stabbed the other one on the forehead. I hadn't noticed the other one until felt it teeth on my skin, but I pulled my arm back before it took a chuck out.

I tackled it to the ground and didn't waist any time killing it and stabbed it on the forehead, but I knew I wasn't done I still had one more to take care of. But the infection was making my eye sight blurry and I stumbled onto my feet. I could see it in front of me, but I didn't have any balance on my yet. I heard a shot and the Walker feel onto its side and I looked towards the direction it came from. Tyler stood by the open gate with a gun in his hands.

I started to walk over to him with a smile on my face, but it wouldn't stay on my face for more than five seconds. The infection was going ruff on my body and my body was shutting down on its one. I fell in to Tyler's arms "Tyler, my body is dying again," I whispered. I tell I was on the ground, but I was still in his arms. I closed my eyes.

Tyler shook me making my eyes snap open an inch "Keep your eyes open, Sky. Ciara get the gauze, alcohol, and bandages, now," I heard him yell, but I heard so far away.

I could feel my body going limp "Tyler, I can't keep them open any longer," I said my voice getting softer and softer, until my eyes closed and my heart stopped beating darkness over taking me.
