74 Shadowglade Academy

There are still three days left before the competition starts and all the registration stuff has already been finished by Dean Snowcrest.

The representatives and companions have nothing to do while waiting so the dean allowed them to walk around the city after a few reminders.

Shye decided to go out of the inn to look around the city so he walked towards the room of the first-year companions.

He knocked before opening the door and upon seeing that most of them were still asleep while Siegfried was nowhere to be found, Shye closed the door and decided to go alone.

While walking around, Shye wondered about what rank of adventurer could afford to live in such a luxurious city when suddenly, he stumbled upon a unique adventurer guild headquarters.

A huge and luxurious signboard which had a wild feel to it was hung in front of the headquarters entrance and the words "Raven's Blade Adventurer Guild" were written on it.

What surprised him was, that the headquarters had the same unique shape as the Order of the Black Sword's headquarters back in Colzen City.

Although the quality of both the materials and architecture were utterly incomparable, Shye felt familiar vibes after seeing the headquarters of the Raven's Blade Adventurer Guild so he couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection between the two.

"Heh! Look, isn't this guy a first-year student? Are Colzen Academy's students so untalented that they had to pick some random freshman as a representative? Laughable!"

"Hahahaha! Yo, Bernard, chill out, you're scaring the poor freshman…"

Shye was forced to snap back to reality after hearing mocking voices behind him so he turned around to see who spoke.

His eyes narrowed into slits upon recognizing that the students were from Shadowglade Adventurer Academy.

Shye remembered their conversations while on the way to Valenzia City where Dean Snowcrest told them that three academies had bad blood with Colzen Adventurer Academy.

These three academies were Shadowglade Adventurer Academy, Orion Adventurer Academy, and finally, Aslan Adventurer Academy.

Although Colzen Adventurer Academy and Aslan Adventurer Academy weren't on the same level at all, the reason for the bad blood was that someone from the old golden generation of Colzen Adventurer Academy somehow managed to defeat a student from Aslan Adventurer Academy.

The other students and the instructors of Aslan Adventurer Academy couldn't accept the fact that they lost one battle to a mediocre academy like Colzen so the other Aslan students retaliated when it was their turn to fight and excessively beat up the other students of Colzen Adventurer Academy.

One Colzen Academy student even lost his life on the stage.

Unfortunately, it was Colzen who always ended up on the losing side of this conflict between the two academies.

Every year, Aslan Adventurer Academy finds a way to humiliate Colzen Adventurer Academy even if they don't get matched up in the competition brackets.

On the other hand, the rivalry between Colzen, Shadowglade, and Orion Adventurer Academies was born due to these three academies regularly fighting each other for a spot in the top 64.

However, during the recent years, Colzen Academy struggled to find success in the Adventurer Academy Competition so the students of Shadowglade Academy and Orion Academy started to bully and suppress Colzen Academy students.

Shye knew that he was simply unlucky to run into this group of Shadowglade Academy students who were trying to humiliate him.

"Hmm? Mere companion students dare to mock me? A representative? Aren't you guys a bit too cocky for some random characters who are only here to watch me fight?"

Of course, Shye wasn't someone who would take an insult lying down, especially from students who weren't even representatives.

Veins popped on the heads of the Shadowglade Academy companion students.

Due to the recent bad performance of Colzen Adventurer Academy, these Shadowglade Academy students couldn't stand the fact that a freshman representative of their rival academy dared to talk back to them who were second-year students.

Even though they were only companion students, they believed that they could beat the crap out of this arrogant freshman student who was probably the substitute representative.

*SHING*

The leader of the second-year companion students from Shadowglade Academy drew his sword and pointed it at Shye which meant that he was challenging him to a duel to the death.

In Valenzia City, duels to the death were allowed as long as they went through the proper challenge-and-accept process.

If Shye points his sword toward this student from Shadowglade Academy, it means that he accepted the deathmatch.

Students from other academies and other professional adventurers were attracted by the commotion caused by the Shadowglade students so they started to form a circle with Shye and the other student in the middle even though Shye hasn't accepted the duel yet.

This development made it hard for him to reject the duel because if he did, the crowd would be disappointed and he would be labeled as a cowardly representative who backed down against a companion student.

However, how could Shye let go of a precious chance to earn system points?

Not to mention, he already defeated Havan, the top-ranked second-year student in Colzen Academy and although it was unknown if this guy was stronger than Havan, it didn't even matter to him because he simply toyed with Havan and made him a vitality point generator.

Shye dramatically pulled out his greatsword, the Nightbringer from the sword strap on his back and pointed it towards the Shadowglade student as the crowd erupted into cheers.

The death match was on.
