9 Combat Strength Assessment

"Oh…So she's our combat instructor huh? She must be strong…I wonder what her adventurer rank is?"

Shye muttered to himself.

After scanning the whole classroom with her eyes, Instructor Fienna checked if everyone was present.

"James Harrison?" ... "I'm here!"

"Lia Sullivan?" ... "Present!"

"Shye Crowley?"... "Here!"

After Shye raised his hands, some of the students who had been sleeping earlier looked in his direction. Not only them, but even Instructor Fienna looked at him for a while.

"So he's Shye Crowley huh? Other than his good looks, this guy seems…Ordinary? Doesn't look like an arrogant person either…"

Instructor Fienna thought to herself.

After calling a few more names, the attendance check was finally over, and seeing that the class was complete on the first day, Instructor Fienna was satisfied.

"Alright, everyone, follow me to the training fields. Since I will be your class advisor, I need to see how strong you guys are."

Instructor Fienna walked out of the classroom and into the training fields. Shye, along with his classmates, also walked out and followed their instructor to the training fields.

After ten minutes of walking, they arrived at the training fields.

Instructor Fienna took out a yellow scroll with runes inscribed in it.

She then channeled her mana into the yellow scroll and after a few moments, a spirit wolf appeared from the runes.

"Everyone, pay attention! This is a spirit wolf created from my mana, you guys will fight this spirit wolf and I shall rank your strength based on your performance."

Instructor Fienna knew that although the entrance examination rankings were not that far off the mark, it is also not accurate.

To make her class the strongest among all the first years, she had to accurately calculate their strength.

This is because the class budget is different from the personal monthly allowance provided to each student based on their rankings per year level.

Although the personal monthly allowance is enough to make a student strong, it will fall short when compared to a student who has both a high personal monthly allowance and a high class budget.

This is why Instructor Fienna must make sure that her class will get the highest ranking possible at the end of the semester since it would be her class' ranking for a while.

After a few more minutes, the first student was called.

This guy named James Harrison is ranked on the lower end during the entrance examination so he wasn't confident at all.

*HOWL*

The spirit wolf howled and then charged at James.

"It's fast!"

James and the other students thought to themselves. Fortunately, James was able to dodge the spirit wolf's first attack.

However, just as he was about to counterattack, he was surprised that the wolf's paw was already in front of his face!

"No!!" James cried in despair. He thought that his life would end here.

*BANG*

The wolf's paw landed on James' face and he was sent rolling on the ground, unconscious.

"Tch…How weak…"

Instructor Fienna muttered to herself as she walked towards James and fed him a lesser health potion.

After a few moments, James was back to full health. Instructor Fienna turned around and looked at everyone.

"Everyone, as you can see, the wolf only deals blunt damage so the worst it can do to you is knock you out."

"This spirit wolf scroll was made to test each student's strength so there's no need to worry about your safety and just fight to your heart's content!"

After hearing that their lives wouldn't be in danger, the students breathed a sigh of relief and they were able to focus more on the assessment.

Unfortunately for James, he became the guinea pig.

A few moments later, the next student was called. The girl named Lia walked towards the middle and unsheathed her hatchet and shield.

"Oh? A hatchet-type warrior…How rare…" Instructor Fienna muttered to herself.

Unfortunately, Instructor Fienna was disappointed after Lia was defeated in only four attacks.

The next few students were also defeated in less than ten moves but Instructor Fienna wasn't too disappointed.

This isn't her first time teaching first-year students so she already saw some students suddenly become stronger after a few months.

Fortunately, the stronger guys in their class were able to last more than thirty moves against the wolf and they were even able to deal a small amount of damage to the spirit wolf.

Due to this, Instructor Fienna saw some hope for their class.

"I thought that this class was really bad but it doesn't look that way anymore…Out of the ten first-year classes, they should rank around 7th or 8th… Not bad…I can make them stronger…"

Instructor Fienna thought to herself.

Finally, the strongest guys were called last.

"Shirley Locke, it's your turn"

Instructor Fienna called the girl named Shirley Locke. During the entrance examination, this girl ranked twentieth overall so she was also given her own premium dormitory.

Shye noticed this girl earlier, she was one of the girls who didn't pay much attention to him.

"So she was also part of the top 20 huh?" Shye muttered to himself.

After a few more moments, Shirley's assessment started.

Her battle against the spirit wolf was intense. Shye was surprised to see that this girl named Shirley was slowly winning against the wolf.

Finally, after ten minutes of intense battle, Shirley Locke defeated the spirit wolf. However, she was also spent after the fight.

Instructor Fienna was satisfied after seeing that someone was finally able to defeat the spirit wolf and she let Shirley rest on the sidelines before calling the next student.

"Anthony Hawkmoore…You're up."

A slight commotion happened after the guy named Anthony was called. It seems that Anthony was ranked 18th during the entrance exam.

Shye watched Anthony's assessment closely.

Anthony indeed deserves to be higher ranked than Shirley because he defeated the wolf in less than ten minutes and he wasn't as spent as Shirley even after his victory.

"Hmm…He's strong indeed…I won't be able to earn points like this…I need to increase my stats."

Shye knew that it was only a matter of time before his name was called so he quickly opened the Flashy Adventurer System and clicked [Upgrades].

Currently, he has 467 unused points but he didn't want to spend them when there's no need to so he only upgraded his strength, dexterity, and agility by two points each which set him back 240 points.

He saved the remaining 227 points for emergency purposes.

"Shye Crowley…Your turn"

Finally, his name was called. Shye smiled excitedly as he walked towards the newly summoned spirit wolf.

"Time to earn some more points!"
