3 Colzen Adventurer Academy’s Entrance Exam
"Ughhh…"
Shye groaned upon waking up. He looked around but old man Sanada was nowhere to be found.
"Hmm? We're back at our hut?"
He recognized that they weren't in old man Sanada's shack anymore and he suddenly remembered his little sister.
Shye quickly looked around but Maia was nowhere to be found. He stood up and ran outside the hut to look for her.
"Big brother?"
Fortunately for him, his worries were cut short after running into Maia in front of their dilapidated hut.
"Maia!"
Shye couldn't help but hug Maia as tears welled up in his eyes. He truly thought that they were about to part ways forever.
It seems like the heavens had eyes and they were given a second shot at life.
Maia saw her big brother's relieved look so she hugged Shye in return.
She didn't know what happened after she collapsed but it seems that her big brother did everything he could to save her life.
After a few dramatic minutes, Shye suddenly remembered about the system. It should have been already installed inside his body…right?
Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to open the system.
While Maia was preparing a small meal which consisted of random vegetables that she managed to pick up on the outskirts of the beginner adventurer zone, Shye headed towards a hidden place inside the beginner adventurer zone.
He then began saying different words such as "Activate!" and "Open!" but nothing happened.
Shye was starting to get frustrated.
"How the hell am I supposed to open this system?!"
After saying the word "system", a holographic interface that was only visible to him appeared right in front of his face.

Shye jumped back after being startled by the holographic screen but he soon realized that this must be the system installed inside him.
"Oh…So it activates once I shout "system" huh?"
"Well then, let's explore a bit shall we?"
Shye muttered to himself as he clicked [Status].

"Hmm…so these are my stats huh? It's pretty convenient that I can see it anytime I want instead of going to an adventurer guild to check my status."
Shye clicked [Back].
As he was about to check the other options, he suddenly remembered that old man Sanada told him that he slept for six days inside his shack when he was injured.
"Oh no! I forgot about the entrance exam!"
Fortunately, he managed to wake up early today so he still has a chance.
Shye clicked the exit system option and quickly rushed towards Colzen City which was only a quarter of an hour away from their hut.
Upon arrival, he quickly approached someone.
"Sir! Do you know what day it is today?"
"Oh? Hmm…let me check… Today is the 11th day of autumn of the year 1672"
Fortunately, the guy he asked was kind. So instead of telling him to go away, the guy actually answered him patiently.
"11th day of autumn! Today is the Colzen Adventurer Academy Entrance Exam!"
Shye quickly thanked the guy and then sped off in the direction of the examination grounds.
After ten minutes of sprinting, Shye was panting hard. Fortunately, he barely arrived on time for the registration.
He quickly went to the back of the line to wait for his turn.
After a few minutes of waiting, his turn finally arrived. The staff gave him a pen and paper and told him to fill up the required information.
Once he was done, he was given his applicant number. Shye found an empty spot and sat there to recover a little bit of stamina that he spent earlier.
After a few more minutes, the entrance examination finally started.
The examiner walked up to the stage and explained the assessments that they needed to take for each class.
As for Shye, he was applying for the warrior class. The examination for the warrior class consists of three assessments.
First is the raw strength test which measures your attack power through a training dummy.
After hitting the dummy, a number will appear on top of its head which indicates the examinee's score.
As long as the examinee's score reaches the passing mark, then they may proceed to the second test.
As for the second test, it is the overall combat power test which converts your overall status into numbers to determine your overall combat power.
Upon entering a magic formation, numbers will appear above the examinee's head, and again, as long as the examinee's score passes the threshold, he/she may then proceed to the third test.
As for the third assessment, it was a little bit more complicated.
The participants who passed the first and second assessments will be registered in a mock tournament to determine each examinee's final ranking.
Once an examinee reaches the third assessment, it means that they have already passed the entrance exam and have successfully earned a spot in the academy.
However, the third assessment will determine an examinee's overall rank which will affect how much resources they will get per month.
A lower ranking means fewer resources and slower improvement while a higher ranking means more resources and faster improvement.
Not only that, they will gain some fame within the academy if they get a high ranking during the third assessment.
In the world of adventurers, fame is a huge part of an adventurer's identity.
A famous adventurer will always be given more chances to rank up than the others and that's why the third assessment is very important.
Once the examiner had finished his explanations, the first assessment immediately started.
"Examinee number 352, Shye Crowley, please proceed to training dummy number seventeen."
After waiting for a while, it was finally Shye's turn.
*PAH*
"152 points!"
Shye slashed the training dummy with everything he had but he only got a slightly above-average score.
The passing mark is 140 and he only exceeded that by 12 points. Currently, the single-digit seeded examinees have already broken through the 220-point mark.
He was evidently behind. These seeded examinees were sons and daughters of famous high-ranked adventurers like their parents.
If their parents didn't die, perhaps Shye would be a seeded examinee too. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side.
At least his score managed to get him through the first assessment.
After a few more minutes, the first assessment was finally done. Out of 852 warrior class examinees, 740 passed.
It seems like the examinees of Colzen City prepared meticulously for this entrance exam.
It was understandable though because being an adventurer is the most profitable career in this world so it was natural that the examinees would do everything to pass the entrance examinations.
The second assessment finally started and after waiting for a few hours, Shye finally got his turn again.
"Examinee number 352, Shye Crowley, please proceed to magic formation number thirteen."
Shye quickly proceeded to the assigned magic formation and stepped inside. The formation immediately lit up after he stood in the middle.
"161 CP"
The formation assessed that he had 161 combat power which is only slightly above average again, nothing special at all.
The passing mark is 150 so Shye successfully passed the second round and he has successfully made it into the academy!
Shye clenched his fists and celebrated in a lowkey manner. For him, it's enough as long as he can feed Maia.
He will still try his best in the third assessment of course but the second assessment was more important for him because this marks his admission to the academy.
After the second assessment was done, a total of 500 students passed and made it into the academy.
However, among the 500 passers, only a few celebrated. It seems that most of them weren't content with just passing, they wanted a higher ranking!
Shye sat in an empty corner while waiting for the third assessment's mock tournament bracket.
After an hour, the brackets were finally out!
He walked towards the bulletin board to see who his opponent was.
"Examinee number 92, Edwin Greendale…Hmmm…doesn't ring a bell…"
Shye muttered to himself.
There were some famous individuals among the regular examinees and others even called those examinees "dark horses of the assessment".
The only reason that these dark horses were not seeded was that they weren't sons or daughters of high-rank adventurers.
Luckily, his first opponent isn't someone like that.
"Examinee number 352, Shye Crowley, and examinee number 92, Edwin Greendale, please proceed to sparring grounds number twenty-five!"
Shye was surprised that his match was scheduled this early. He quickly carried his sword and walked towards the assigned sparring grounds.
Upon arriving, he met face to face with his opponent.
His opponent was a red-haired guy with the same height as him. The guy was staring daggers at him in an attempt to intimidate Shye.
Shye's expression turned serious and he didn't shrink back at all from his opponent's stare.
"I almost lost my little sister a few days ago. You think you can scare me with just a stare?"
Shye muttered to himself as he walked towards the middle of the sparring grounds for his first match.
