1 WHY DON'T WE GET MARRIED?

At the Civil Affairs Bureau...

"I'm not sure she'd be coming, boss. Maybe you should call her again" The man standing by the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau said with a reluctant expression on his face.

The man seated on one of the steps responded solemnly, "It's up to her now. I'm only doing this because of my grandfather. I've even given her the option of divorce after six months. She alone knows what the matter is now."

"Boss, Miss Bianca is a public figure now and this marriage will greatly take an effect on her career. She currently running for the Best Actress award so this is by far, the wrong time for her to accept such a request. By my understanding, she doesn't want any negative publicity, and neither does she want to be known as a divorcee later on. I still insist you should call her. Why not give it a trial, Liam?" The second man explained passing a phone to his boss.

Even though he knew that the chances of Bianca changing her mind now were low, he still wanted his boss to give it a trial again.

'But why did she have to accept in the first place?'

Liam's phone began to ring and after hesitating for a few seconds he answered the call. Placing the phone on his ear, he said impatiently, "Speak"

"Boss, Miss Reese is not in the country as we speak. I was able to find out that she had gotten engaged to a Canadian man last week. Also, it might be possible that she had gotten engaged to him for fame.

"And some rumors were circulating the internet, saying that you have been chasing after Miss Reese and even though she had made it clear to you that she wasn't interested, you were still threatening her. I've suppressed the rumors but I still haven't found the source boss" The man from the other end of the phone said.

Liam smirked as he replied, "Isn't the source obvious Jayden?"

The man called Jayden chuckled and said, "I knew you were so intelligent. What do you want me to do about her?"

"Nothing. Just let her be." Liam responded, a sinister smile on his face.

"Okay. Happy married life bro" Jayden said as he ended the call.

Jayden was Liam's best friend and cousin. He was the only one who could dare to annoy Liam after their grandfather.

Seeing that his boss was done taking the call, Teddy spoke again. "Boss, please call her."

Liam's expression turned frosty upon hearing those words. His lips, however, curled into a confident smile as he said, "I trust she wouldn't change her mind. Not when she has found a new man to leech. Teddy, do I look like a fool to you?"

Teddy sighed resignedly. "Boss, for your grandfather's sake, please plead with Miss Reese."

"Plead? She should be grateful that I'm still willing to marry her after everything she has done. She should also be grateful that I didn't ruin her career before it even began. Tell me, Teddy, why should I plead with someone as ungrateful as herself?" Liam snorted.

Teddy sighed inwardly. Knowing his boss, the famous Liam Wilson, he would never plead with anyone. Not in this life, nor the next.

"But, you must get married today! Otherwise, your grandfather would take away the Wilson Corporation from you. I know you do not care about that, but since you've agreed to your grandfather's request, you must do it at all costs!" Teddy reminded sternly.

Liam's gaze lowered as his face creased into a frown. He was lost in thoughts.

It was true he didn't bother about the Wilson's Corporation as his own company, the Will's software agency was growing well. But, he had already promised his grandfather to get married today and he wasn't one to break his promises.

Just what was he supposed to do?

Meanwhile, a few steps away from them...

Raelle paced back and forth in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau. Today was the day she and Kim Davis would register their marriage. Even though the marriage was an arranged one, they had both grown to love each other, and so, they happily picked this date.

Raelle and Kim were childhood friends. Their parents had always been family friends, and to further strengthen their bond, they decided to have their children get married.

It was at this moment that her phone rang, jolting her back to the present. Glancing at the screen of the phone, she saw it was Kim, her prospective groom-to-be.

Raelle immediately stopped pacing.

After seconds of thinking, she finally picked up the call. However, before she could say a word, Kim's voice rang from the other end of the line. "Elle, uh, I'm sorry. I won't be coming. I'll.. I'll talk to you later."

Trying to get rid of the tremors in her voice before answering, Raelle gulped the lump in her throat before speaking. "Kim, do you still intend for this marriage to hold? Or do you not have any intentions to marry me at all?"

Kim hesitated for a while before he said, "Elle, I think it would be better if we don't get married. We're better off friends than married. I'm.."

"Okay, I understand," Raelle interjected before she hung up. Slowly, she squatted down with her heart throbbing in pain.

' I should have known earlier. I should have known that you were a jerk just like any other man.'

Liam who was standing nearby overheard her discussion with the supposed groom. With this, an idea popped into his head.

Turning to Teddy with a faint smile on his face, "Who said I wouldn't be getting married today?"

Teddy didn't know what his boss meant, but whatever he meant, it made him feel uneasy.

Teddy's eyes widened as he watched Liam slowly walk up to the girl squatting not too far from them and tap her shoulder lightly.

"What is he trying to do?"

The lady stood up and turned to look behind. She froze when she saw the person behind her.

He stood tall behind her, his 6'7 looking down on her 5'8. The sun casts a shadow on his sharp features and highlights his noble temperament.

Liam's face held no expression as he began to approach her. In his cold and husky voice, he said clearly,

"Why don't we get married?"
