Chapter 1: Mission to Vale

On another part of Remnant, not far from Atlus exists a rather peaceful settlement.  Many haven't known about this settlement due to the inhabitants blending in and mostly keeping to themselves.

This settlement is secretly a kingdom for a forgotten race. This race can be recognized by their flame colored eyes, darker and sometimes more tanned skin, and pointed ears. This race simply refers to themselves as Dark Elves or the Albanar Tribe. They are like they said, warriors. But, not the kind that goes looking for fights. They're very peaceful, but are very powerful fighters. Some of this is due to the harsh conditions they've been subjected to in harsh winters that come to the mountains of Mantle.

Unfortunately due to their freakish physical strength and overwhelming abilities,  humans and faunus alike often mistreat and scorn them. Recently, it has turned to indifference as though they weren't even there. Both humans and faunus have been so preoccupied with each other that they've forgotten the other race living among them.

A dark elf with long blue hair, flame colored eyes was seen sparring with a red haired boy. These boys were Odyn Alabanar and his younger brother, Roy Albanar. Off to the side another pair of young teenaged elves were sparring. The girl had black hair and tanned skin, while the boy had purple hair and darker skin. This was Kanna Albanar and Baron Odarinath.

A female elven soldier appeared before them in sparkling emerald green and gold armor and knelt to them. This was Sybryh (cyber), a captain of the guard. The pairs of Elven teens stopped sparring upon seeing this.

Sybryh: Pardon the interruption,my Lords. But, both the King and Queen wish to speak to the four of you.

Sybyrh knelt as she said this, prompting all four young elves to come over to her.

Odyn: Thank you, Sybyrh. Tell Father and Mother, we'll be there shortly.

Kanna: It's good to see you, Sybyrh. Can you lead the way to them?

Sybyrh nodded as she stood. The four teen elves then quickly made themselves presentable and followed the female Elven guard towards the King and Queen's throne room.

Roy: What do you suppose Father and Mother want? Any ideas?

Baron: It must be something extremely important if their calling for all four of us at the same time.

Kanna: Have to say I agree with Baron here, they've never had all 4 of us in the same place at the same time before.

Sybyrh: I'm certain whatever it is must be of great importance. 

The rest just nodded and walked in silence as they followed Sybyrh to the throne room.

The 5 of them arrived to the throne room where dozens of guards stood watch . The room was more or less a giant hall with wood floors, numerous stone pillars that supported the roof, and a wooden roof that was small enough to let light from the sun into the room. They had constructed their base carefully so as to not damage the integrity of the cavern in the mountain they used as a temporary home.

The thrones were carved wooden chairs with finisher on them and furs of several giant grim strewn across the seat and the back to allow for comfort. In them sat Berethon Alabanar, High King of their race and his wife, Hyatan, the High Queen.

Berethon had Cerulean Blue hair and a beard to go with his lighter shade of dark skin, while Hyatan had violet purple hair and lighter/tanned colored skin.

Berethon wore Golden armor with royal blue mixed into his king's attire beneath it. He also wore a blue cape.

Hyatan , meanwhile, wore purple armor, with silver trimmings , and   violet  for her royal attire beneath her armor.

Sybyrh: I have brought them, your majesties.

Sybyrh knelt as she said this. The others with her followed suit behind her.

Sybyrh: If that is all, I will take my leave now.

Hyatan: Wait Sybyrh. What we have to tell them does concern yourself in a way, so I would much rather you stay.

Sybyrh nodded and agreed to stay and listen to what the King and Queen had to say.

Odyn: You called us, My Lieges?

Berethon: yes, we did. As you four are well aware and... I assume you felt it, there is a terrible evil threatening to engulf Remnant. That would include ourselves.

Hyatan: There is no doubt that the 4 of you are quite strong, however I fear that you are still rather ill equipped to take on the dark force that's coming.

Kanna: Forgive my bluntness your majesty, but what do you mean by that?

Hyatan then looks to Berethon as if to say that he needed to explain this. No verbal communication was needed, because Berethon knew what his wife wanted.

Berethon: what she means is while you 4 are very strong and quite powerful in your own rights, you are... still young yet. You lack some essential experience that you would need to quell the coming darkness.

Roy: I.. see... So we need more experience, my liege?

Berethon: correct.

He then looks to Hyatan as stands up to her feet. She then walks down and kneels to the teens level.

Hyatan: Odyn, my son, how old are you now?

While she was smiling, the king could tell that the queen had a rather pained expression on her face upon looking at Odyn's left eye. It was hidden behind an eyepatch, still healing. She had her hand against the side of her son's face as she gently stroked the eyepatch.

Confused as to what the meaning of the question, Odyn voiced his concern.

Odyn: umm.. Forgive me, your majesty. I fear that I don't quite understand the meaning of your inquiry.

Hyatan: I will explain it in due time. If you will answer the question, my son, all will become clear.

Odyn: I recently turned 16 years old, I believe.

The queen smiled and then proceeded down the line.

Hyatan: And you, Kanna?

Kanna straightened her posture while still kneeling at this.

Kanna: I am 17 years of age, your majesty.

Hyatan: How old are you, Roy? Baron?

Roy: I am also 16 years of age, your majesty.

Baron: And I would be the youngest here, your grace. I turned 15 at the cycling of the winter solstice.

The queen smiled and had one last moment of concern for her eldest son.

Hyatan: Are you certain you're okay, son?

The queen said that as more of a whisper to Odyn than anything else.

Odyn whispered back, so he could relieve some of the concern his mother had for him.

Odyn: I can assure you that I am fine, mom. The eye was of my own doing. This is a consequence of my stubbornness for not listening to you and father, when you were only trying to look out for my well being. Now I have lost my original eye because of it.

Odyn had lost his original left eye, due to him being attacked by a grim as a young child. His father went on a rage because of this, and had slaughtered countless grim before taking one of their eyes and implanting it into where his son's eye had been gouged out of. It had taken awhile to adjust to, but eventually his new eye had begun to heal.. albeit very slowly. That was why his left eye was a different color than his right eye was.

Hyatan smiled as she was somewhat relieved that her son didn't blame her or his father for what happened. The queen turned and walked back to her throne and gracefully sat back down.

Hyatan: To prepare for this threat, the 4 of you are to travel to Vale. There, you are to enroll the school they train their best warriors and fighters in. What was the name of that school again?

Berethon: I believe it was Beacon.

Hayatan: Ah yes, Beacon! Go there, and enroll as students there. It could help gain so e much needed experience as I'm sure they'll send on more than a few dangerous missions.

Berethon: it would also do wonders for you to be around another style of fighting. Arkynorean combat is fine, but it helps to be abit more versatile when needed.

Roy: I see..

Odyn: Very well. I believe I can speak for all of us when I say this, we gladly accept this mission.

Berethon: Very good then. Sybyrh will escort you to where you'll need to catch a ride to Beacon. We don't want you to draw too much attention by flying there.

Hyatan: This also presents a unique opportunity of sorts. The humans and faunus have been so preoccupied with each other and their squabble, that those who remember us have since passed on. It is a younger Generation that knows nothing of us Arkynoreans.

Berethon: It is time we reintroduce ourselves to the world as those who inhabit it have long since forgotten us. We can't simply just abandon them, how can we?

Kanna: No sir.

Hyatan: Get to it then.

The 4 teenaged Elves and Dark Elves bowed in respect before taking their leave to prepare for the journey. Sybyrh was about to leave and join them when Hyatan spoke to hold her back.

Hyatan: Hold on Sybyrh,  we have a separate mission for you.

Sybyrh: I see.. forgive my impatientience, your grace.

The King and Queen walked to where Sybyrh knelt before telling her to stand, which she did. Berethon held out a hand before using his energy to project a screen in front of them. There, they saw an old man with a cane, a black jacket, matching glasses, a green scarf, a turtleneck shirt beneath the jacket, black pants, and shoes. He also had a coffee mug in his left hand before setting it down as if he was expecting a call from them.

The man repositioned himself as he folded his hands over his cane and stared directly at what was most likely an image of them in his office. This was Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon academy in Vale.

Ozpin: Ah, to what do I owe this honor your majesties?

Hyatan: Ozpin, you needn't speak so formally to us, we're friends.

Ozpin: ah yes. Do forgive for that.

Berethon: We have decided to send our two sons, Odyn and Roy, along with their cousin, Kanna, and a friend of theirs, Baron. They're coming to your school as students.

Ozpin: oh my, the princes and two members of the guard are coming to Vale? If you don't mind my asking, is there some purpose behind their enrollment?

Berethon smiled and chuckled abit. His old friend always was a sharp one. Very little could get by him unnoticed. 

Berethon: You remain as sharp as ever, old friend. It is due to the Evil on the horizon that we are sending them there to better prepare themselves.

Ozpin: Evil on the horizon? You mean "Her"?

Hyatan: If it was only Salem, that would be for the best. But no, it is someone far, far worse than her.

Ozpin: Worse than Salem? Who could this foe be that is possibly even worse than Salem? Who is it that causes you such concern?

Berethon: I believe you know him Ozpin. Thanatos, The King of Darkness.

Ozpin's eyes widened at this, he never thought he'd ever hear that name again. But he was confused. Wasn't that the name of the wisp like necromancer himself, Summer Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, Raven Branwen, Qrow Branwen, Berethon, and Hyatan  defeated and sealed away some 20 years prior? How was "He" back?

Ozpin: I.. I don't understand. How is he back then?

Berethon: I'm not certain myself of that yet either. I didn't think he would return so soon either.

Hyatan: perhaps Salem messing with the delicate balance of life and death played a pivotal role in awakening Thanatos?

Now he understood why they were sending those from the next generation of Arkynoreans to Beacon. This next Generation of Arkynoreans was perhaps the very last hope for both the humans.. and the Faunus to survive the coming conflict with the armies of death.

Ozpin: I... understand.  And thank you, my friends. This help... is much appreciated. 

Hyatan: There was one more reason we called as well.

Ozpin lifted a curious eyebrow at this. There was another reason? He was curious as to what this other reason was for their call.

Ozpin: Oh? What's this other reason?

The King and Queen motioned to Sybyrh who quickly bowed in salute to the headmaster.

Berethon: This is Sybyrh, the vice commander of the Elven Vanguard. We were hoping she could be a combat instructor at your academy.

Ozpin paused to think on this proposal for a minute before signaling for them to continue.

Hyatan: That way, she can continue to train the 4 we're sending to you as well as provide a valuable experience for your other students. Others could benefit from her style of fighting.

Ozpin smiled at this, it... wasn't a bad idea. He liked it.

Ozpin: of course. She may be young, but even I can tell miss Sybyrh has a wealth of combat knowledge I think would benefit a host of our students. It seems we have a martial arts instructor and a weaponed combat instructor now too.

That caught their attention.

Hyatan: Wait, you have a martial arts teacher?

Ozpin: yes. I believe he said his name was... Tarro?

Berethon: Tarro? Unless I'm mistaken, that's a saiyan name.

Ozpin: will that... be a problem?

Berethon and Hyatan looked at each other before looking back towards Ozpin.

Hyatan: No, it won't be. At least we don't foresee it being an issue.

Sybyrh nodded to confirm as such.

Ozpin: I see. Well then, I'll be expecting 5 Arkynoreans then.

Berethon: we'll keep in touch in case anything should turn up.

Ozpin nodded and waved to them as they said their good byes.  The King and Queen then turned to Sybyrh. 

Sybyrh knelt as they spoke.

Hyatan: Can we entrust you with this task, Sybyrh Arkham?

Sybyrh nodded as she clenched her fist and brought it to her chest in a traditional Elven salute.

Sybyrh: You can count on me, My King, My Queen.

Berethon: Very well then, see to it you look after them.

Sybyrh: Yes, my Liege.

Sybyrh Rose and walked out of the room to go attend to her charges.

Small Timeskip

After the group was now ready to leave for Vale and Beacon, Sybyrh met them near the base of the mountain.

She walked ahead of them before performing a series of movements with her arms and hands. After this was done, a glowing magical circle appeared where they were to walk to.

The group of 4 Elven Lords, led by Odyn walked towards the circle and stood in the center of it. A moment later Sybyrh joined them in the center. As soon as she did, the runes surrounding the circle began to rotate before a blinding light enveloped the group. The group shot into the sky like a meteor and sped off into the horizon.

Sybyrh: Now remember my lords, no flying to Beacon. It would draw far too much attention to yourselves.

Kanna: Got it!

Baron: wait, why can't we fly agai-?

*BONK!*

Baron: Ow! Kanna, what'd you do that for?!

*Kanna Sighs in exasperation *

Kanna: If you had just listened, you would've understood why! Idiot!

Baron began to rub the sore spot on his head with small tears coming out of his eyes as he whimpered slightly.

Baron: owie... K-Kanna, that really hurt.

Kanna:💢 tch! It's what you get for not listening,  you little weasel.

Sybyrh: less bickering, more flying. It takes all 5 of us focusing to hold this spell, lest you forget Lord Baron, Lady Kanna.

Baron: R-Right!

Kanna: Alright.

It was relatively silent the rest of the journey to Vale.  The group landed not far from the drop off point as Sybyrh then continued on her own way.

Sybyrh: Farewell for now, my Lords. I pray that that udiya will keep and protect you until we meet again.

Odyn: Farewell Sybyrh. 

The female Elven guard then used the same spell to disappear from their sight. It was day now, as they could see students were arriving where they were at en masse.

Roy: hmm.. I take it, this is the where a uh... what did father and mother call it.. pick us up?

Kanna: A Bullhead, Roy.

Roy: Yeah, a Bullhead.

Baron: it would appear that way.

Kanna saw Baron looking abit down cast. He was like a little brother to her, so she never really liked seeing him sad despite her attitude towards him earlier.

Kanna: Baron, what's wrong?

Baron noticed the gazes of his companions and put on a forced smile.

Baron: oh it's nothing, except..

Kanna: except what?

Roy: you know you can tell us, Baron.

Odyn: We're here for you.

Baron sighs, knowing he really can't hide anything from them. So he opens up and tells them what's been on his mind. He explained to them that most likely, his father, Overfire, had the same idea as the King and Queen. He'd be sending his younger sister who was not so fortunate to be rescued from the situation both of them were in at one point. She was serving his father and his cohorts, but not willingly. She was also secretly looking for someone to save her.

Kanna: Your.. sister is coming here?

Baron: Yes. Her name is Hailfire, but I always just called her Hail. She liked it when I called her that. But my younger sister is in deep trouble and is probably going to be looking for help.

Roy: Your sister, how old is she?

Baron: she's only younger than me by a few months, so we're both 15.

Kanna: that's terrible. Don't you worry, Baron. We'll help your sister however we can.

Baron thanked them as they prepared for the journey to Beacon.

Not far from them, two girls were awaiting the Bullhead to go towards beacon as well. The first girl had black hair with crimson highlights in them, light colored skin, and silver eyes. She wore a black dress with red trimmings, matching legging like pants, black boots with red lacing, and a vibrant crimson hood that was also a cape.

This was Ruby Rose, age 16.

The girl glomping her and inwardly squealing was her older step sister, Yang Xiao Long, age 17.

Yang had long and vibrant blonde hair, Lilac colored eyes, and light skin. She wore a dark brown jacket, with a yellow shirt underneath, a pair of black shorts with a brown belt, orange leggings up to abit below her knee, brown boots, black fingerless gloves, and her yellow and red colored gauntlets around her wrists in  a donut shape.

Yang: ooh, I'm so glad my baby sister gets to come to Beacon with me! You're going to be the talk of the school when you get there. You'll be the bees knees!

Ruby: Yang, I don't want that. I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees.

Yang raised an eyebrow before Ruby continued.

Ruby: look, I just don't want anyone thinking I'm super special or anything because I was able to skip ahead 2 whole years so I could get into Beacon.

Yang didn't quite understand this, but didn't have time to think on it due to a group of kids she'd never seen before coming up next to them.

The first boy was tall, had dark skin, and pointed... ears? He also had shoulder length dark blue hair, flaming orange eyes, and was very very muscular. A blue hoodie, silver fingerless gloves,  black pants, a green belt, black boots, and a long sword strapped and sheathed to his back completed the outfit.

The second boy also had the pointed ears and flame colored eyes, but his hair was Red to go with his darker shade of tanned skin. He had what looked to be Blue armor with white trimmings, the shape of what looked to a dragon on his chest plate, blue fingerless gloves, a brown belt with what looked to a sheathed sword strapped to his side, silver knee pads, and blue boots. A gray cape finished off the look.

The lone female of the group had black hair, fair colored skin with what looked to be several scars littering her face and arms, flame colored eyes, and pointed ears. She had what looked to be emerald green and silver  gladiator type armor, a brown sash, a red belt, emerald green armor that went down to her feet, tan boots, black arm bands/greaves, and had what looked to a large hammer slung to her back. But the hammer was odd, it was like it was part of a long pole type weapon, she also had a shield attached to what looked to be her right gauntlet.

The last boy of the group also had dark skin, pointed ears, and flame colored eyes to go with Auburn colored hair. His outfit was consisted of a black vest and robe like coat, with several brown belts crossing at different points. They had swords that were sheathed on his back, and what looked to be guns holstered to each of his sides. His back had quite odd emblem on it. It was two swords crossing inside of an ember of flame, and those were on a shield surrounded by a circle. When they looked, all 4 of the teens had the same emblem/insignia somewhere on their clothing or armor.

Odyn: waiting for the bullhead too huh?

Ruby turned and looked towards Odyn she looked him up and down before responding.

Ruby: Y-Yeah. Are you new here?

Odyn: You.. could say that, yeah.

Ruby: oh. Wait.. if you're here then...

Yang: Are the 4 of you going to Beacon Academy as well?

Roy: We are actually.

Yang looked at the red haired boy, she smirked as she looked him up and down. She liked what she saw. While, this boy wasn't as tall as the blue haired one, he was every bit as handsome and... muscular it seemed as the first boy.

Yang: Well then, maybe we'll see you around then?

Kanna: Yeah, you'll see us around. Name's Kanna by the way. Kanna Andross.

Yang smirked at her and shook her hand. She could feel a sort of... kinship with this one.

Yang: I'm Yang. Yang Xiao Long.

Kanna: Well Yang, it's nice to meet you.

She then motions to her companions as she speaks up again.

Kanna: the one to my left is Baron Caldern,  he's kinda like a little brother to me.

Baron: Hello there.

Kanna: The Redhead is Roy.

Roy: Pleasure to meet you, Yang.

Kanna: and then last but not least is mister one eyed pirate over there, Odyn. He's also my cousin.

Odyn: Hi. 💢 And I'll just pretend I didn't hear that Kanna..

Ruby then noticed his eyepatch. She was confused and curious about it now.

Yang: Nice to meet you all, oh this is my sister, Ruby Rose.

Ruby: H-Hi there.

The 4 greeted Ruby with warm smiles as she was nervous at first, but she eventually smiled back at them.

The bullhead they'd been waiting for had finally arrived, much to the students delight. Everyone then boarded the ship within a few short minutes. Yang and Ruby sat near the back, with the 4 teens they'd met before boarding, sitting in front of them.

The ship took off after the last of the applying students who had been accepted into Beacon boarded it. Once in flight, Ruby spoke up. There was something she'd been wondering for awhile now that Kanna had inadvertently brought up. She fidgeted nervously before speaking up.

Ruby: Hey umm... O-Odyn right?

Odyn looked up at the young girl with a smile.

Odyn: Yes? What is it, Ruby?

She fidgeted again. She didn't want to weird him out or scare him off since they'd just met, but she had to know. And he seemed like a really nice person too.

Ruby: uh.. um... I.. uh.... n-noticed you were an eyepatch over your left eye. Is there any reason for that? Did something happen to you?

The other teens eyes widened before Odyn held up his hand to signal that it was okay. It was only natural that a girl like Ruby would be curious about it after Kanna had unintentionally brought it up.

Yang: Rubes, you can't just blurt out something like tha-

Odyn: Yang, right?

The blonde nodded after uncovering Ruby's mouth.

Odyn: It's fine. I don't mind answering Ruby's question.

Yang looked at him curiously. She really couldn't tell if he was upset or not. Odyn assured her that he wasn't upset or mad, he'd gladly answer Ruby's question... under one condition...

Odyn: First, could you tell us how you two are sisters and yet... your surnames are different?

A look of realization crossed Yang's face before she asked a question of her own.

Yang: Do... any of know what step siblings are?

The other 4 teens looked to each other before Odyn answered back.

Odyn: No... Can't say any of us are familiar with that concept. What... is that?

Now it made sense, none of them knew what step family was. That was bizarre to say the least. If they never knew until now, they must have grown up in a culture where that was never even brought up or never even occurred. 

Yang: We say we're sisters, but we're actually step sisters.

Roy: Step.. sisters?

Ruby: We had the same Dad, but our moms were 2 different women.

Yang: my mom is still alive, but left my dad when I was little for some reason. Ruby's mom on the other hand... She.... She passed away while on a mission.

Odyn: i.. think I get it now. And.. I'm  sorry you had to go through that. I understand what it's like to lose someone precious to you....

Odyn and Roy both had pained expressions at this. It something both Ruby and Yang noticed, but Odyn waved it off. Focusing back on topic.

Odyn: As for your question, Ruby. I wear this to allow my eye to heal.  As a child I was... reckless and ended up losing my left eye after a grim gouged it out.

Roy: our father went on a rampage after that. He found the grim who did that to Odyn and killed it, but not before plucking its eyes and using one of those eyes as a replacement for Odyn's original left eye.

Kanna: he implanted it where his left eye once was. As a result the nature of the eye changed and will probably be a different shade color compared to his right eye.

Odyn: but.. it has to heal fully first.

Ruby's eyes widened and she clenched her fist to her chest in shock and horror. She put her hand on Odyn's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.

Ruby: I.. had no idea.. I'm sorry Odyn.

Odyn smiled at her, appreciative of her concern for his well being. 

Odyn: I appreciate the concern Ruby. But I can assure you that I'm fine. This eye should heal in within a few weeks.

Ruby: umm... yang?

Yang looked to her sister in confusion wondering what was wrong.

Yang: what is it, Rubes?

Ruby: Not to interrupt you, but uh... what is... that on your shoe?

Yang looked down and started freaking out.

Yang: Eww, yuck! Get it off! Get it off, get it off, get it off, get it off of me!

This caused the lighthearted mood to return as the group lightly chuckled at this. They did feel bad for another blonde haired kid who was seen  puking into a trash can on board the ship however. Guess, travel through the air wasn't for everyone. 

Ruby peaked out of the window and saw the school as they were landing. Her eyes gained sparkles in them as she saw the school for the first time in person. It was... in a word, enormous.

Yang chuckled upon seeing how excited her sister was.

The blonde looked towards Odyn and whispered to him as the students were leaving the ship.

Yang: Odyn?

Odyn: Yes?

Yang: Think you could look after Rubes for little while? I gotta go meet up with some friends I promised to meet beforehand, but I don't want to leave my sis by herself.

Odyn: I understand,  we'll keep an eye on her.

Yang: thank you.

They exited the ship before the Elves waved to Yang as she took off. Before she left she looked towards Roy and winked at him before whispering in his ear something that made him blush and somewhat unnerved him.

Yang: See ya later, handsome~

Roy felt a shiver come up his spine as he involuntarily blushed at the Blonde's words to him.

Kanna looked at Roy curiously before asking what was on everyone's mind.

Kanna: You okay, Roy? You're blushing.

Roy: I'll be... fine. Just need some time to process what.. just happened now. That Yang is far more aggressive then she looks.

Kanna slapped her forehead at this, she should've know either Roy or Odyn would catch the blonde's eye.

Kanna: So.. she already flirted with you right off the bat, huh?

Roy nodded, still somewhat dazed a little concerned about what to do around the blonde going forward.

Kanna: Good grief! She hasn't even known you for a full day, and she's already putting moves on Roy? Dang, she's fast. I'll have to be careful around her  then.

Ruby looked around only to say that Yang had disappeared on her already. She would be sad but then got distracted by all the different kinds of dust weapons students were carrying. Meanwhile, the elves helped a blonde named Jaune recover from his vomiting into a trash can.

 As she continued, she wasn't watching where she was going and bumped into someone. The raven black and red haired girl rubbed her face before her eyes widened. She saw that she'd run into and knocked another girl over. Ruby waved her hands in front of her face frantically as she attempted to apologize.

Ruby: oh my gosh! I uh.. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to run into you!

The girl she ran into just huffed in annoyance at this before speaking. But when she spoke, it was clear that there was an air of superiority in her voice.

Girl: hmph! You should be sorry! Do you not watch where you are going?! Ugh.. and you made me drop my cases too! What are you going to do about that?!

Ruby: I uh.. I'm sorry!

The Elves turned and saw a girl in white berating Ruby for some reason. Odyn scowled at this and was about to go over there and set things right when Kanna held her hand up to stop him.

Odyn: Kanna?!

She looked at him sternly.

Kanna: we don't know the situation yet. I know it isn't ideal, but we she let this play out and see what's actually happening first.

Kanna said that, but Ruby sneezed and an explosion of dust flew everywhere. The white haired girl became even more cross with her , not even giving Ruby a chance to explain herself.

Odyn had enough and angrily stalked up to the white girl, even going as far as shooting her the darkest glare he'd ever given anyone.

Odyn: Lay off of her! She said she was sorry. You need to chill, lady!

She seemed to get offended at this and snapped back.

Girl: you-! Do you know what she did?!

Odyn: I saw. But I don't care. Ruby said she was sorry, so forgive her.

Girl: How dare you! Do you know who I am?! If you don't apologize or compensate  me, I'll-!

Odyn: Or you'll what? Go ahead I dare you to finish that sentence!

Odyn glared darkly at her. She didn't know what it was about this boy, but something told her that it would be really bad to mess with him anymore.

Odyn: As for who you are... Yeah, I know exactly who you are! You're Weiss Shnee, heiress to the Shnee Dust Company.

???: Yeah, her family's company is quite famous.

Weiss: Thank you! At least someone knows who I am!

???: However, the Shnee Dust Company is also responsible for some shady business deals and questionable partners.

Weiss: why you! I don't have to listen to this! I have much more important things to do than this!

The girl named Weiss stomped away after, being told off by the strange girl. Ruby reached out to stop Weiss, but she was already gone. The other girl went to walk away before Kanna stopped her.

Kanna: Hey hold up a minute!

The girl turned to face the group. She raised an eyebrow, she'd never seen people like this before.

Kanna: Thank you for that. It could've gotten ugly. Anyways, I'm Kanna Andross. The one with the blue hair and the eyepatch is my cousin, Odyn. That redhead is also my cousin, his name is Roy. And this here, is our friend, Baron Caldern.

Girl: I guess I should tell you who I am now. I'm Blake Belladonna. 

Kanna: it's nice to meet you, Blake. Maybe we'll see you around?

The girl name Blake offered a slight smile before walking away.

Blake: maybe.

Ruby went to talk to the girl, but she was gone. She then fell to the ground and onto her back. She sighed.

Ruby: Welcome to Beacon.

Odyn: Rough first day, huh?

Ruby: mmhmm. You could say that.

Odyn: think I'll join you down there.

Roy: same here.

Baron: me too!

Kanna: Don't mind if I do as well.

Ruby was shocked as all 4 Elves laid on their backs like Ruby in a circle with her before she snorted and giggled at them.

Ruby: Wait, why would you-? *snorts* you guys are so weird.

They all begin to laugh at their situation before getting up. Jaune came over to them before Kanna spoke again.

Kanna: Ruby, we'd like you to meet Jaune Arc. Jaune, this Ruby.

Jaune: Jaune Arc. It's short, sweet, and the ladies love it.

Ruby: 😅 Riiiiiggghhhtt... I'm Ruby Rose. It's nice to meet you, Jaune.

There was now an awkward silence that'd settled over the group. Well.., that was until Ruby broke the awkward silence by pulling out her dust weapon.

Ruby: So uh...I got this thing.

Ruby takes out her weapon and it unfolds into a scythe. But upon closer inspection, one could see it was also a sniper rifle.

Jaune: t-that's a-

Kanna: a Scythe Rifle, isn't it?

Ruby nods in reply to this.

Roy: this is pretty remarkable.. I assume you had this built, Ruby?

Ruby: umm... no. I actually built it myself.. but I may have gotten abit carried away designing it.

The elves looked at her in astonishment.  To think that a girl as quirky as she was could build something as remarkable as this was incredible. Odyn smiled at Ruby, he was impressed to say the least.

Odyn: I assume you have a name for your weapon?

Ruby: I do actually.  This is Crescent Rose.

Odyn: Crescent Rose... that's a very beautiful name for your weapon, Ruby. It reflects the beauty of it's wielder. 

Ruby's face flushed a deep scarlet at this as she smiled at him.

Ruby: oh-oh t-thank you o-odyn.

Kanna smirked at this, she could tell Ruby liked it when Odyn complimented her. 

Kanna: Alright enough of that. You have time for that later, lovebirds.

Ruby tilted her head in confusion at this.

Ruby: Lovebirds?

Odyn: 🤦‍♂️ Kanna! Ruby doesn't know what that is yet!

Kanna then whispered to Ruby.

Kanna: (whispering to Ruby) Don't worry, I'll explain later.

The group continued walking and chatting after making their way around the school.

While Jaune chatted with the others, Ruby hung back with Odyn for a few minutes. They walked in silence for a few moments before Ruby said something to break the silence between them.

Ruby: hey um... O-Odyn?

Odyn looked at her in question. 

Odyn: Yes, what is it Ruby?

Ruby nervously fidgeted as she worked up the courage to tell Odyn what she wanted to say to him ever since the incident with Weiss.

Ruby: T-Thank you.

Odyn: hmm? For what?

Ruby: F-For helping me back there. You didn't have to do that. And... I uh... It made me really happy what you said about Crescent Rose.  I just n-never got to properly thank you.

Odyn chuckled as he ruffled her hair and smiled at her.

Odyn: nonsense. I just did what any friend would do. I wasn't going to stand by and let that girl badmouth my friend like that. It was a given that I help you.

Ruby's eyes widened in shock. Did.. she hear that right? Were her and Odyn really friends?

Ruby: R-Really? Are we really friends?

Odyn smiled at her again and ruffled her her again while lightly chuckling.

Odyn: of course we are, squirt.

Ruby puffed out her cheeks as if she was pouting at this.

Ruby: I'm not a little squirt! I drink milk!

Odyn chuckled again as he smiled at her.

Odyn: right, right. Sorry Ruby. You just.. remind me of my younger sister.

Ruby: You're younger sister?

After she asked this, Odyn had a very sad and pained expression on his face. Ruby grew concerned at this and wondered what was wrong. Noticing he was making the girl worry about him, he forced a smile on his face.

Odyn: I'll... talk to you about it later, okay?

Ruby: alright. But are you okay?

Odyn: I'll be fine for now Ruby.

The two then caught up to the others just as Jaune was finishing his conversation with Kanna, Roy, and Baron. The group was walking along a creek before stopping and wondering where they were.

Jaune: All I'm saying is Motion sickness is a much more common problem than people think it is.

Kanna giggled at this before making the group stop. Jaune spoke up and asked the question they'd all been wondering.

Jaune: Wait a minute... Where are we?

They all looked around and were confused as to where they should go.

Jaune: There's gotta be a Map, or a directory, or something that tells us where we need to go.

Roy: I agree Jaune.

Baron: We should look for one.

The teens agreed and began searching for where they were to go.

Timeskip: 1 hour later

After an hour of aimless wandering, Ruby stopped the group by pointing to a building where students were seen going into.

Ruby: um guys? Could that be where we need to go?

The group looked and indeed there were students heading into what appeared to be an auditorium. It appeared as if they found where they need to be. They looked at each other for a moment before following Ruby into the Auditorium. 

A moment later Ruby spotted Yang waving her down as she'd saved a seat next to her.

Yang: Hey! Rubes, over here! I saved you a seat.

Ruby nodded to her before turning and thanking the group of Elves(not that she knew yet lol).

Ruby: Thank you for staying with me. I'll see you all later!

She turned to leave, then stopped and ran back to Odyn for some reason. 

She didn't know what came over her, but she ran back to him, hugged him, and then gave him a peck on the cheek. She became red in the face after this and fidgeted before speaking up.

Ruby: um.. t-thank y-you o-Odyn. I'll see you later!

Odyn: u-uhh.. y-yeah sure. Do your best in the initiation, hopefully we'll see each other afterwards.

Ruby: y-yeah.

She waved to him and left to go sit by her sister. Kanna then gained a sly smirk at this.

Kanna: Niiiccceee going there, lady killer. Did something happen between you two?

Odyn: 💢 Kanna, I swear it's not like that between Ruby and myself.

Kanna: 😏😏 Oh really? Then what was that?

Odyn: 💢💢🤷‍♂️ Look, I don't know! I don't know why she did "that". Why don't you ask her the next time you talk to her?

Kanna: 😏 Suurree... You know... You and Ruby would look awfully cute together, Cousin.

Odyn: 😩💢 I will thank you to drop it, Kanna...

Kanna and the others merely smirked at this as Odyn turned away embarrassed and quietly grumbling about it. Jaune wasn't sure what just happened as he had a question mark above his head. He sat down with them as they listened to Ozpin speak to the students.

Ruby's P.o.v

I managed to make my way back to my sister Yang and sat down next to her. What I didn't seem to notice was the fact my face was still flushed red.

Me: Yang, where were you?! How could you leave me alone?

Yang: Sorry about that Rubes. At least you found me, right?

I nodded and then continued.

Me: After you ditched me, I ran into a mean girl, knocked over her cases, and I litterally exploded!

Yang: wow, meltdown already Rubes?

Yang then smirks at me before gaining a sly grin. I should've known what was coming...

Yang: By the way, Rubes.. who was the Hot Guy you were with just now?

Me: Hot Guy? Me? With a guy? Pssh, nah! Not me.

Yang: oh really? So, was it the blonde over there?

Yang motions to Jaune. For some reason, I get embarrassed and start shaking my head along with waving my hands frantically. 

Me: N-No not him! Y... You met him before you left me.

Yang: Before I left Y- ah..  you mean Odyn, don't you?

Me: Y-Yang, it-It isn't like that with him!

Yang: Hmm.... 😏 you suuuuurrrrreeee about that Rubes?

Me: Yes! I told you, there's nothing going on between us!

Yang: hmmm??? 😏😏😏 I'm not convinced yet.

Yang's eyes widened for a second before she regained her sly smile. It was like she realized something I didn't tell her or... that I wanted to admit.

Yang: 😏 ah... I think I get what's going on now.

Me: Y-you do, Yang?

Yang: yeah. You have a little crush on Odyn, don't ya Rubes? You like him.

Me: 🤦‍♂️ Y-yang! E-even if that was true, I don't even know if he feels that way about me yet.

Yang: yet?

I soon realized my mistake too late. I could tell Yang was already plotting something in her head, most likely involving myself and Odyn. I just made friends with him. It was awfully presumptuous to think I had romantic feelings for him already!

I sighed,knowing this was going to take abit to straighten out. But, it wasn't as though I could talk to Odyn about this... it involved both him and me.. I thought about who I could bring this up to and I suddenly remembered, Kanna, his cousin. I figured she would understand what a huge misunderstanding this was.

It wasn't as though, I didn't like Odyn. Because I did really like him! Just..... not like how Yang implied that I did. He was my friend before anything else. I just hoped we could move past this.

I turned and faced forward so I could listened to what professor Ozpin had to say as he addressed the rest of the student body.

Third person P.O.V.

Ozpin strode to the stage and cleared his throat as he began his speech.

Ozpin:I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. (as the students whisper among themselves) You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.

Glynda then immediately spoke up afterwards.

Glynda: You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed.

Yang then turns to Ruby.

Yang: He seemed kinda... off.

Ruby: Yeah,It's almost like he wasn't even there.

Jaune then is seen approaching Weiss from the side.

Jaune: I'm a natural blond, you know!

Weiss: 🤦‍♂️

The sound of Weiss smacking her forehead with the palm of her hand is then heard.

Later in the ballroom.....

The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed.

Yang: It's like a big ol' slumber party!

Ruby: I guess... (still not looking up) I don't think Dad would approve of all of the boys though...

Yang: (*smirks*) I know I do! (purrs as she watches several muscular, shirtless guys... and Jaune, dressed in feetie pajamas, waving to her, which makes her groan before she returns her attention to Ruby)

She then leans over to try and see what her sister is doing.

Yang: Hey Rubes, what's that?

Ruby: (Answers without looking over at her sister) A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.

Yang: Aw, that's so cuuuute! 

The blonde is then knocked back by a pillow being thrown at her face.

Ruby: Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!

Yang: What about Jaune? He's... nice!

Ruby: Yeah, I suppose. I don't know him very well though....

Yang then gains a devilish smirk as she mentions a certain... person that Ruby seemed to be quite close with.

Yang: (A mischievous smile crosses her face) 😏 Well... what about "him" then? You know, that really hot guy you were with earlier?

Ruby: (Tilts her head in confusion at this) "Him"? Hot guy I was with earlier?

Yang: Yeah, you know... that really hot guy that you have a little crush on?

Ruby: Hot guy that I have a crush on? Huh?

Yang: Don't play dumb, Rubes. You know who I'm referring to...

Ruby: Wait... by Hot Guy, do you mean-?

Yang nods her head while smirking at her as Ruby's face suddenly lights up like a christmas tree and is as red as a tomato.

Yang: That's right, I mean Odyn.

Ruby panicks and rushes to cover Yang's mouth for fear that Odyn would hear their conversation. 

Ruby: Y-Yang please! He might hear you!

Yang: 😏 mmhmm... I thought so. You made friends with him and his brother, didn't you?

Ruby wasn't getting the point and started to ramble.

Ruby: (she turns and lays on her back)

Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to zero...

Yang: (chuckles abit at this) Rubes, There's no such things as negative friends! You just made two friends and one enemy! 

hit with another pillow, this time looking like a dog, to the face

Yang: Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet! And I'm pretty sure Odyn and his companions already befriended you anyways, so you have more friends then you did when you got here.

Ruby sighs at this. Yang was right. She did have some friends.

Ruby: Yeah.. you're right I guess.

The two sisters notice a candle being lit nearby, and Blake Belladonna is seen leaning against a wall, reading her book.

Ruby: That girl...

Yang: You know her, Ruby?

Ruby: Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything.

Yang: Well then, no better time than now. Now's your chance!

She grabs Ruby's arm and lifts her up to her feet.

Ruby: Wait! Yang, what are you doing?!

Blake looks over her book to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she leads her sister over to Blake's spot before letting go.

Yang:  (singing) Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?

Blake raised an eyebrow at this before she spoke.

Blake: Aren't you... that girl that exploded?

Ruby: Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater... (smiles, embarrassed) Actually, you can just call me Ruby.

Blake just looks back to her book before offering a somewhat delayed answer.

Blake: Okay.

Yang then whispers to Ruby.

Yang: What are you doing?

Ruby whispers back.

Ruby: I don't know- please help me!

She then turns to Blake before speaking again.

Yang: So... What's your name?

Blake sighs in frustration  before deciding to humor these two girls who kept bugging her.

Blake: It's... Blake. Blake Belladonna.

Yang: Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!

Blake is irritated at this, but responds anyway.

Blake: Thanks.

Yang: It goes great with your... uhh..  pajamas!

Blake: Right...

Ruby laughs uncomfortably in the background while Yang continues to try and make conversation with Blake.

Yang: Nice night, don't ya think?

Blake answers irritated again. Why was this girl still talking to her? She just wanted read her book.

Blake: Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book! (Ruby and Yang stand there) That I will continue to read. (Ruby and Yang continue standing) As soon as you leave!

Yang turns to Ruby.

Yang: Yeah, this girl's a lost cause.

Ruby then walks up to Blake.

Ruby: What's it about?

Blake has a surprised look on her face, but she answers the girl's question.

Blake: Huh?

Ruby: Your book... does it have a name or anything?

Blake: Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body.

Yang adds a sarcastic comment to her answer.

Yang: Oh yeah... That's real lovely! Real ... original there.

Blake ignored Yang's snarky comment as Ruby seems excited for some weird reason.

Ruby: I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!

Blake was a little taken aback and skeptical at the same time. She chose her words carefully and said what she thought. The girl wasn't sure how Ruby would respond, which was why she had to carefully chose her words. She couldn't help but to laugh a little. This girl was... interesting to say the least.

Blake: And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?

Yang: Oh, she's more than hoping with a certain guy she met... 😏

Ruby: Y-Yang! (*blushes madly*) I thought we weren't going to mention that?

Yang: Oops, did I say that? It's too easy to tease ya Rubes, especially when it comes to "him" that is.

Ruby: (*blushes embarrassed *) Please yang, no more! He might hear you! And I don't want him getting the wrong idea!

Blake raised an eyebrow at this. She was curious about who this guy was that Ruby was all embarrassed to talk about. Ruby then cleared her throat to change subjects.

Ruby: A-Anyways! I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!

Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child.

Her smile then turns into a frown as she continued her thought.

Blake: Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale.

Ruby: (*she smiles at her in response*) Well, that's why we're here. To make it better!

Yang: Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister!

She then hugs Ruby and lifts her into the air. Ruby pouts as she is kicking out at Yang as a rather forced sisterly bonding evolves into a dust cloud of flying limbs and a few stars.

Ruby: Yang, cut it out!

Blake can't help but to laugh slightly at this. She smiles ever so slightly as she speaks.

Blake:Well, Ruby, Yang, it's a pleasure to ha-

She never finishes her thought, because Weiss storms over to the scene in her pajamas due to all the noise Ruby and Yang are making. The sisters only notice her after Ruby traps Yang's leg.

Weiss: What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?

Yang and Weiss make eye contact and point at each other, remembering the earlier confrontation in the auditorium. 

A/N: I skipped that so we could get further into the story. But it still happened just like in cannon.

Weiss/Yang: Oh, not you again!

Ruby then speaks up.

Ruby: She is right, you know. People are trying to sleep.

Weiss seemed to take an issue with this, suddenly glaring at Ruby.

Weiss: Oh, now you're on my side!

Ruby: I was always on your side!

This angered Yang as she glared at Weiss.

Yang: What is the deal with you?! What's your problem with my sister? She's just trying to be nice!

Weiss: She's a hazard to my health!

The two continue with the shouting match until both feel a rather familiar and menacing presence in back of them.

???: Yang... And you, Ice princess....

Both nervously turn and see Kanna smiling at the two of them, but it's very clear she's ticked off at how loud the pair of them are.

Yang: oh K-Kanna.. (*nervous laughter*) what a surprise to see you here.

Weiss: Indeed.. we-we hardly noticed you there. 😨 (*nervous sweat is dripping down her face*)

Kanna: 💢💢💢💢 (still smiling while her eyebrow is twitching) Would you two ladies care to explain why you're so loud when others are trying to sleep?

Weiss: That's what I'd like to know. I came over here to find out just that when this.. barbarian started shout at me!

Kanna: 💢💢💢  I WASN'T ASKING FOR YOUR OPINION MISS HEIRESS, YOU ARE JUST AS GUILTY AS YANG HERE IS! You don't talk unless I give you permission to, understand little ice princess?!

Weiss and and Yang suddenly felt very small as Kanna glared down at them.

Kanna: I THINK IT'S TIME WE HAD A LITTLE CHAT YOU TWO.

Ruby: 😅 Oh boy... this.. won't end well.

Blake: 😅 yeah, no kidding.

The camera then zooms into Yang and Weiss's terrified faces before the scene blacks out.

Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Thought I'd try to end the chapter on more of a lighthearted and depending on who's reading this... a funnier note.

Don't worry, it will be explained a little later how saiyans come into play in this story. As you can see I'm going to have it be kind of a running thing with Yang teasing Ruby about her "crush" on Odyn, who is clueless any of that is going on currently. He may find out in a few chapters, we'll see. And no, Odyn and Ruby won't just all of a sudden become an instant couple like that. I'm going to develop their relationship. So it'll be more of a close friendship at first.

Ruby will probably develop romantic feelings for odyn first and it may be early on, but she won't act on those feelings until she knows Odyn feels the same way. It'll be more of a best friend/younger sister type relationship for now.

Anywho this is mix of DBXV, RWBY, and my own original story. So some things may seem.... out of place. That will be due to a good portion of it is original content. I'll try to stick as close to the RWBY cannon as I can ... at least for events. Since there are saiyans and those like saiyans involved, i have to account for that so not everything will follow the cannon story directly.
