They only had one opportunity to catch the culprit behind the stealing of Mai's clothes, and that day was today. There were no abilities, no time travelling for them. Where they could go back in the past and try to attempt this again. They needed to find out who it was, and they needed to do so now. 

Which was why Even, had set up a plan. He continued to look into the classroom with his eagle eyes. Scanning everyone's actions. At the exact time Simon had left the room with the plastic bag in his hand, he looked into the classroom for one thing in particular. 

'1….2…3…4' There are four people in total who are on their phones while Simon is outside. Two girls and two boys.

It may have been a small number, but most students didn't stay in the classroom for lunch in the first place. As for these four people, they were NOT Even's suspects for a culprit. So why was he keeping track of what these people look like? Because he was sure that they would be involved.
