1 1) CECIL REDFOX

Beep! Beep! Beep!

The alarm on the table by the bedside rang loudly for the seventh time. The white slender hand came out of the blanket and finally turned off the ringing alarm. The young boy sleeping on the bed woke up yawning and stretching his arms. He got off the bed and went to the bathroom. The reflection of the boy with pale slender body was reflected on the mirror. He had dark black eyes with slanted Pheonix eyebrows. His jet black hair was messy and stood in front of the mirror brushing his teeth.

"Cecil, Hurry up!! Come down for breakfast."

The name of the young boy was Cecil Redfox. He was fourteen years old and was in sixth grade starting from today. He hurriedly brushed his teeth, washed his face and went downstairs.

Cecil's mom, Bella Redfox was arranging breakfast on the dining table. His mom was Asian whereas his dad was European. They got married in their teens and had Cecil at the early age of 20. They were a happy family but unfortunately, after four years of having Cecil, his father died in a car accident. Since then she was a single mom raising her kids. She never got re-married and did best for her kids. No matter how much hardships she suffered, she still looked young and beautiful.

Cecil walked towards his mom and kissed her cheeks. She was the most important person in Cecil's life.

"Goodmorning, mom."

Bella smiled at him after returning the kiss and said, "Goodmorning, dear. It's already 8 am. You have to be ready for school, can't be late on the first day. Go and wake up your brother too."

Cecil nodded his head and went upstairs. He then entered his brothers' room to wake him up.

"Cain, wake up."

But his brother wasn't waking up. No matter how much Cecil called, his brother just covered himself with the blanket. Cecil got angry and pulled away the blanket his brother was covering himself with.

"Wake up you sleepy head!!!!!"

Cain finally opened his eyes and got off the bed.

"Be ready within five minutes and come down."

Cecil left the room after that. His brother, Cain Redfox was 12 years old and in fourth grade. Cain also had similar jet black hair and black eyes. It could be said that they went after their Asain mother gene. The only difference was Cain looked a lot like his father while Cecil looked a lot like his mother.

Cain came downstairs after 5 minutes and kissed Bella on her cheeks. It was like their daily routine.

"Goodmorning, mom."

Then he turned towards Cecil and said, "Goodmorning, brother."

Bella also kissed Cain and said, "Hurry up and sit. It's already half-past eight. Eat your breakfast and get dressed. I've already arranged your textbooks and copies. The bus will be arriving at half-past nine."

"Yes, mom."

They both said together. While they went to school, Bella went to her job. She worked in a bank. Her monthly income barely supported all of them but still she didn't make them feel like they were lacking anything. She provided all the stuffs for her sons and tried to fulfill their every needs. And of course, Cecil and Cain could already understand the problems of their mother. So, they always spent their money less and gave less trouble to Bella. Especially Cecil, he remembered those hard years their mother suffered alone after their father died.

His mother and his father had married each other against their families. After that, they never got contact with their respective parents. Even after their father died, none came in his funeral except his mother and them. Cecil had vague memory while Cain didn't know anything. He could remember his mother crying alone at nights and her hardships to raise them. Even when their mother was sick, none came. Cecil and Cain took care of her day and night despite not knowing what she was suffering from. Until the day when Bella was deathly sick, they called their neighbour and took her to hospital. They both didn't know how much they cried that day. They were helpless children who were scared of losing their mother.

Since then, both Cecil and Cain became matured enough to see the cruelty of the world. They had none and could only depend on each other. They studied harder than other children to get a scholarship so her burden could be less. But after their mother got a job in a bank, they had been fairly having a stable life.

They finished their breakfast and went to their respective rooms to get dressed. Their uniform consisted of a white shirt, dark green tie, grey pant and black blazer. Cecil arranged his hair. Cecil had myopia so, he had to put on a glasses. Cecil then left his room carrying the school bag.

Cecil and Cain were outside the door standing next to each other. They both looked handsome and Bella kissed both of them tenderly on their cheeks and said, "Have a good day. Be good and make many friends and Cecil, take care of Cain."

Cecil smiled and said, "You don't have to worry mom. We'll be good."

After that, they both left and Bella stood on the doorsteps smiling and waving her hand to both of her son.
