1 CHAPTER 1

Tapping my pen impatiently on the table I looked at my watch awaiting those last minutes of class to be finally over and for the summer holidays to start. Beside me my best friend Jessica Brown was doing the same thing. Looking at her we grinned at each other.

I've known her since I was three years old along with her two older brothers Luke and Chase. Chase was my other best friend. He was only two years older than Jessica and me. On the other hand, Luke was 4 years older than us and worked as a corporate lawyer. Luke was like the older brother I never had.

"When will it be finally over?" Jess was groaning beside me and I could not help but grin at her. We were both desperate for this class to end and for the holidays to start. We were going to our beach house for the summer holidays with our family and friends.

The Browns and I lived next to each other. Jess, the boys and I grew up together, went to the same school, same college and finally the same university. Our parents were really close to each other since the first day they met and that was around nineteen years ago when the Browns first moved in our neighbourhood.

Amelia Brown and Adam Brown was like my own parents and since I mostly grew up around them along with my own parents, I called them mom and dad too. It made sense because Jessica and Luke was like my own brother and sister. Chase on the other hand was another thing. He was more than my best friend.

Years ago my parents, Camilla and Marc Johnson, along with Amelia and Adam renovated our beach houses and made it become only one. We were like family after all. During the summer holidays we usually go there where our family stays together along with our closest friends.

That was the best time of the year. Full of joy, noise and good food.

"Kate Johnson! Will you please stop daydreaming in my class?" my teacher shouted at me to gain my attention.

"Sorry Mrs. Avery." I smiled at her hoping to calm her down. As much as I adored Maths, I was awaiting for the final bell to ring.

Drrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg....

"Finally! Jess shouted next to me." A big smile on her face. Jess was on the university cheerleaders' team. So she looked just as a cheerleader should. Long bond hair tied up in a high ponytail, blue eyes like the colour of the calm ocean and lips currently painted a soft pink. She was too pretty for her own good.

I on the other hand, had long black hair that reached below my waist in tumbling curls. Eyes the colour of smoke and since I was on the volleyball team, my body was toned. I had great legs which I knew attracted lots of gazes.

Gathering our things, we left the class already making plans for the summer vacations. Our friends Mia Blake, Diana Jackson and Samantha Miller will also be joining us at the beach house.

Luke's girlfriend Elena Swan and his best friends Ryder Miller and Jake Swan will also join us. Ryder is Samantha's brother and Tyson is the cousin of Elena. On the other hand, Chase best friends Tyler and Tyson Blake who are also the brothers of Mia will join us there as well as his other best friends Nick Jackson and James Steele.

Jess and I made our way to the parking lot to meet Chase. It was his last semester at the university whereas Jess and I still had one year to go. Chase was going to get his degree in Business Management, Jess in Fashion and Design and me in Corporate Law. Being a lawyer was my dream. My mom and dad were both doctors so everyone expected me to choose the same field but unlike them I chose law.

I was a bit inspired by Luke to take up law. He used to always talk about his studies and what he wanted in life that I wanted to follow his steps. As I said, he was like my older brother, so he was always there whenever I needed his help and advice. He promised me an internship in his firm once I got my degree.

But I decided to take his help only if I could not manage to get an internship somewhere else. I wanted to do something on my own without help. I have managed to reach where I am with my efforts, guide and advice from the people I cared about but it was mainly my hard work. I got good grades and I was sure I will manage to land myself in a good company.

Leaning against his smoky grey car which was just like the colour of my eyes was Chase. He had his phone in one hand on which he was scrolling lazily and in the other one he had his car keys. He was nodding his head at something the girl next to him was saying with a bored expression on his face.

Girls could not resist him at all. The great football player with the body of a greek god and eyes the colour of emeralds. His hair was black and styled in way that suggested he just got out of bed. He was too sexy for his own good. He attracted crowd of girls wherever he went. Be it alone or along with his friends who were also on his team.

Right now he was wearing blue jeans, black button down shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his white vans. His tribal tattoo that he had on his forearm was peeking from one of the sleeves which gave his a sexy look.

As if he knew we were approaching him, he lifted his head and once his eyes made contact with mine, he grinned like the idiot he was causing me to grin back at him. Finally noticing that she was not going to get any attention from Chase, the girl huffed in annoyance and left stomping her feet. So much for maturity.

"Hi sis. Hello baby girl." Chase greeted us. That's what he usually call me, baby girl, princess, babe or sometimes some weird nicknames that he cooked up on the spot. Jessica might be my best friend but Chase was the closest to me.

"Hi big bro." Jess greeted back and gave him a kiss on his cheek. "Hi Chase. Ready for our summer vacations?" I asked and gave him a kiss on his cheek which earned me one back.

"Hell yeah! More than ready baby girl. Time for fun is now here!" He laughed. Getting in the car, we drove home with music blasting in the car. Singing along with Ariana Grande, Jess and I drove Chase crazy.
