Reborn

My body is literally on fire, that's the first thing on my mind as I am floating in the air. All of my clothes became ashes and I am naked from head to toe. How is this happen? Because my girlfriend is torn into pieces in front of me. Yup… you heard it right, she was killed by a man that called himself Shadow.

We are dating tonight and because I am broke and poor as a church mouse we decided to stroll in Luneta Park and eat street foods. I will never know why a girl as pretty and rich like her fall in love with someone like me but I never question it, the important thing is… we are happy. As we walk and cherish this night, we suddenly sense something's wrong. The place that is always crowded became quiet and empty except one lone man stands in front of us.

"What a lovely night." The man utter in a sensual way while looking to the moon. He is a handsome man, tall and thin with a hint of muscle. His hair is as black as the night with a pale moonlit skin. He is wearing a black suit and stands in a regal way; anyone will mistake him as a king. He slowly look at us and smiles so evilly that will send shiver into your spine.

"Who are you?" I bravely asked him as I move in front of Jessica. She whimpers and hides herself in my back while she grabs my hand in a death grip. I don't blame her; I'm scared as hell too.

"I'm Shadow at your service." He bows to us like a butler. "I'm here to release the fire within you, Kelvin."

Before I question him how he knows my name, guys with a smell of a wet dog appear. They approach us with a speed I didn't see and one of them punches me on the stomach that makes me collapse. They took Jessica away from me as she screams in fright and asks for help. They drag her in front of that guy.

Then a shadow like vine burst forth from the ground. It grips my ankle and wrist and suspends me in the air. Jessica calls my name repeatedly and pleads for my help. But all I can do is shouts at them to let her go, I never felt this hopeless…

Shadow took Jessica by the ankles and carries her like a toy. "My pets, it's time to eat." He said it like a loving father to them. They change into bear-like wolves and eat her. I can her scream and gurgle in blood as they tore her to pieces. He closed his eyes while smiling as he hears the crunch of flesh and bones of my girlfriend. '

My heart fills with hatred for this guy and something snaps in me. I felt a hot sensation inside me and envelopes my whole body. My body is suddenly on fire, my clothes are burn to ashes and the fire surrounds me like a robe. The fire spreads and killed all the wolves that are busy eating Jessica. But Shadow does not even flinch; he has no sign of being hurt. He just watches me with fascination. The vines let me go like a snake that has been burn.

"What an astounding power." He moans as he watches me. "Be a lad and give it to me." The vines attack me and the fire inside me forms a shield to protect me but to no avail. The fire gradually weakens and I starting to feel nauseated.

When I am beginning to think that I'm going to die, a mound of rock and soils burst forth in the ground blocking the tentacles. Waters distinguishes the fire that destroying the park and a blinding light appears. Two voices scream in agony one of them is Shadow. My body collapses in exhaustion, while my vision starts to blur. Four guys approach me.

"Kelvin, are you alright? Talk to me." Someone ask me but I can't even move my lips… all I can do are cry as the darkness consumes me.
