Please Note: "Fire Mate of a Dragon" is the sequel of The Return of the Royals Series, delving into the captivating story of Luna Abigail's daughter.

  Unknown POV

It's been 18 years since that fateful day, where my brothers went to the royal pack to deal with the self proclaimed Queen. 18 years since the battle that killed them all.

I know the Queen did not kill them herself, but she might just have been the one. I felt it when she disbanded us. When she disregarded the council, which had been around for centuries on end.

We had been the highest form of law. We had been the law. And the community had thrived under us. They thought we were gone, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

When my brothers went to the pack, we had a feeling things could go south. Therefore me and two others stayed back. I was the only initiated though and the deal was; in turn, things went wrong, I was to initiate the other two and start recruiting. In the shadows, of course. We don't need attention from the wrong eyes.

So, for 18 years we have been hiding in the shadows. Living in the mountains on the border to the west dragon kingdom. Enjoying the benefits of the dragon's magic protection barrier.

We have grown in numbers once again. Trained and planned. Waited and watched as our enemies grow overconfident in their own abilities.

"Something is happening. You need to come down here! NOW!" One of my brothers yells from the platform underneath where I have been sitting, brooding and thinking.

I rise and hurry down there, making sure I have everything for a possible attack. Has the Queen, at last, discovered our hiding place? Had those meddlesome and irritating goddesses decided to taddle after all? Ugh. I hate those beings, and when we are in power once again, I will make sure they are bound to their own world. Locked in to never interfere with our lives again.

"What is it?" I ask as I descend the stairs.

"There on the horizon." He replies with a finger, pointing to large creatures flying towards us. We have our own defense magic in place, so no one can locate us or find where we are unless specifically told by a secret keeper or a divine one who obviously doesn't abide by human laws.

"It's just the dragon," I say with a dismissive hand wave, turning to go back.

"But the girl in the clutches of one of them isn't." He says dryly, making me turn on my heel.

He is right. She is definitely not a dragon. Well, well, well. How life can bring surprises. The little princess must have been brought here because of the rumors. She is said to be a mate to the heir of the west dragon kingdom, but I wasn't sure if that was really the case.

The dragons fly closer, and it is obvious there is something going on amongst them. The princess is fighting whoever has her in their claws, and there is an internal battle going on in the back. The others are blocking the prince.

This might just be our sign. Things are moving, and we need to be ready.

Revenge is going to be so sweet. I smile to myself, as I turn to go inside. We need to move some of our plans ahead of schedule.

"Summon the girl. We need to move the plan up." I say over my shoulder.
