63 To Catch A Wanna Be Predator

Entry 55:

Gabriel POV:

I was one of God's first angels, something I take pride in as I was not only needed but loved, and it was beautiful.

I fought for him; I worshiped him.

Then I saw Heaven crack and shatter around me as Helel refused Father's orders out of misguided love or pride; I will never know. He never told us.

Thus, the first angel fell and became the devil Lucifer and, along with Lilith, established their new race born of depravity and misery.

They were slaves of the highest order.

And so we fought because their race would spread worldwide and bring untold chaos if we did not.

I was there when the Celestial Dragons barreled into the battlefield in their selfish conflict.

Thousands upon thousands fell as those two were dealing with some unknown problem.

And then Father became weaker after sealing some beast and creating his sacred gears.

I was there when God fell, and Lucifer and his Satans fell alongside him, yet in those final moments, God whispered something to Lucifer, and I saw his eyes widen, and for a moment, he smiled.

But a year before the battle, an exciting event took place.

Even in his weakened state, God created something new, a new Angel, one of the last, and as he was born, I looked at him and beheld a vision.

I saw his visage taking the throne of Heaven and giving us a new Golden Age.

I saw that we had lasting, true peace under his watch.

He may not be perfect, but none of us are.

I saw him taking us to the stars and dealing with extraterrestrial threats with but a wave of his sword and spear.

When Michael and I visited him and saw those weapons, I nearly rushed and hugged him out of pure happiness.

The New Age is rising, and he will be the one to lead us. All he needs is time.

I sometimes watch him just to see his majesty, and today, I was graced with something beautiful.

Anakim left Heaven, and I know why.

He heard the call, a prayer, a plea for salvation.

As he dealt with the stray, I beheld an impossible sight I saw as the soul of the stray devil was purified and turned to the afterlife.

That should not be possible, as the Devils have no afterlife. They just disappear.

Yet he was able to do so. He released the Stray Devil's soul from its torment.

And even at that moment, he found time to comfort the victim, whom I believed was on death's door, and yet again, Anakim surprised me.

He fully healed that woman, which would have taken the might of multiple angels and still left scars.

This is a sign. I know it.

So, I will continue to watch, wait, and hope that he may someday embrace me in that same light. I shall wait, for I know what is coming.

Linus Ozias POV:

I just thought shivers for some reason and looked around to see if anyone was about, and seeing no one, I thought of the variety of anime tropes and assumed someone was thinking about me.

I hope it's a good thing.

I have been explaining the supernatural world to this woman for about an hour now, but now, here comes the most critical part: the offer.

The woman considers what I said and responds, "So let me get this straight: all of the mythologies exist somehow. Even if there are multiple creation-level events in each one, there are angels, devils that can reincarnate other species to add to their own, and fallen angels, a bunch of heavenly dropouts that hunt sacred gear users."

She pauses to breathe and continues, " In addition to the fact that multiple terrorist groups are running around for various reasons, with one specifically looking to cause the end of the world, am I getting this right?"

I simply nod to her, and she sits down, taking it all in, and as she's contemplating her future, I offer her a new one.

" You know you need not live in fear. I am trying to start an organization of my own, and I would like to ask if you would like to join me in changing the world.

The woman ponders this, thinking of the pros and cons and understanding that these events will never go away, and decides.

She grasps the hand I put out to her, which is awkward because my hand is twice her size, but the gesture is understood.

I smile, seeing that the woman has made a choice, but before we can begin, I must clear out any possible evidence from this warehouse.

Luckily, this stray was only to find around 9 victims, and they were mostly just vagrants who hung around the warehouse district for accessible lodgings.

So I clean off the bodies or what's left of them and give them their last rights as their bodies disintegrate into light.

If there was any benefit to such needless slaughter, I was able to gain a copy of the energy signatures for both devil magic and stray devils.

Now, I can build a scanner that can track all of them.

I will need to return to Heaven to create it, and for now, I tell the woman to return home, for I shall call her later.

I also leave her a Bible page that she may call me in an emergency if she tears it apart.

This fight has given me some things to ponder, so as I teleport back to my residence, I find Sandalphon outside my door.

I open the door with her again, reading manga, which she attempts to hide as I open the door.

"Commander, how may I help you?" I ask while looking down at her.

She then literally uses her wings to float to my eye level in response, "Well, my large-statured friend, we have a mission for you."

I raise my eyebrow and gesture to her to continue, " One of our saints named Asia Argento may be  threatened by a devil, and we hope you guard her for a while."

I nod externally, but internally, I am smiling as I may have snuck in some documents related to the circumstances that led to a particular devil gaining ex-nuns for his peerage.

I find it very hard to believe that they never even found but hey, my efforts have borne fruit.

So I agreed to the mission, and my superior smiled and hugged me. I returned with one arm, and Sandalphon left, and I went to prepare for my new guard duty.

Now, you may be wondering why I accepted this mission. It's relatively simple.

If I were to hold Diodora in my care, I would be able to scan his mind and place trackers in him while also scanning his memories for any knowledge of the Khaos Brigade.

Even though he may not be charged for anything due to his status as one of the Satan's relatives, he won't make it too far.

Because not only will I be able to manipulate his entire body without him knowing, but I'll also be able to manipulate his thought processes.

And if he is not a part of the Chaos Brigade, he will definitely have some connections that I could take advantage of or eliminate.

And all I need to do is catch a weak little devil.

I am also somewhat happy that I could save that girl from her fate while also being able to punish the actual idiots that were the clergymen.

While Asia may not be the most practical thinkers, she is a bright spot in this perverse world.

Some find her annoying, and others see her in need of protection. She's both, but ultimately, she is about as inconsequential in my story as in the overall narrative.

And in this moment, she presents an opportunity, even if only for her damsel in distress status.

So let's go protect ourselves a nun.
