A Welcome Distraction

Entry 49:

As I was falling through a portal passing through multiple dimensions I bore witness to many great and terrible things I saw bad ends, good ends, great ends, and then nothing.

During my transit, I drank the essence he gave me and I felt my body instantly filled with not power potential felt like the chains that were holding my form were broken.

I felt like I could do anything but then the feeling quickly passed by as I continued to fly through the dimensional barriers.

To be honest during the experience I asked my armor to play it's on board speaker and play the interstellar music.

The trip itself seemingly lasts only around 20 minutes based around the clock in my suit but time could be relative in between dimensions who knows?

And as quickly as I found myself falling to the dimensions I found myself in a completely new area a city seemingly with falling snow pelting the ground.

I use my enhancedd senses to listen around for any identifying markers of where and when I could be.

Luckily from what I could find I am seemingly in New York City Circa the early 2000's But then I hear something that absolutely shocks me.

*Thiwp*

*Thwip*

I recognize that noise and if I'm in the universe I think I'm in I may be screwed and as I use my x-ray vision to look through the buildings towards the sound I see a red and blue suited young man swinging through the streets chasing what looks like a man exuding electricity with a star on his face.

"Oh my God I'm in the Marvel Universe how am I even here I should have been erased the second oh yeah my Rob Insurance Essence they can't do that," i then receive the quest from Emilio and it is rather simple.

"Save the little lost girl."

I am confused as a little lost girl could describe almost every single female in the Marvel Universe, but then I realize the setting I'm in, the falling snow, the fight between Spider-Man and Electro I know who I need to save.

"Leah I need to find her," Using my superspeed I am able to search the city, and I find my target.

For context, the girl I'm looking for was a girl that had a variety of diseases racking her body in addition to being a poor homeless orphan that Spider-Man swung by hundreds of times but didn't save until he was too late and she died dreaming of a brighter future.

A little girl covered in Spider-Man paraphernalia with various news clippings lining the little hutch she created herself in the alley, and all the blankets she has are just also news clippings with Spider-Man's face on them.

She seems to be sleeping right now which is good because I need her unconscious and using my creation Magic I create the gene enhancement serum that I made in the Worm universe.

This will do little other than cure her cancers and overall improve fitness, but that is not enough this girl is not safe.

So as I inject her with the serum it begins to take effect as color begins to return to her face that she is as white as the snow around her instead of rolling around in pain, she begins to settle.

As I pick her up, I begin to search for a good orphanage to take her to and after searching find what looks like a reputable established orphanage.

But before heading in I use my telepathy and yes Superman had telepathy which I can use to scan all the employees working there and after combing each of their minds I find them all legit.

So I knock on the door and one of the matrons seemingly answers a more elderly looking woman who sees the child in my arms and gives me a cold look.

Before she could do anything risky, I tell her " Ma'am I know this looks bad but I just found this girl in an alleyway covered in snow and shivering with sickness and nearly all of the hospitals are closed or full, and while she does not seem sick nor injured I do not want to take the chance of her staying out in the cold."

The woman then looks to me and the girl and she us inside and asks me to put her on a spare bed and luckily they have a nurse as a member of their staff who does a basic medical examination.

The nurse then sighs in relief as she states, "Well, whoever you are, thank you this girl seems like she was a couple of inches closer to developing a very high fever that could have been life-threatening due to her malnourished state."

I've been smiling in relief as it seems like the serum within her is doing its work because she would have been diagnosed with failing lungs and kidneys due to her lack of nutrition and desolate living space.

Now this girl is going to live for better off or worse, I do not know, but for now, I need to convince them to keep the girl here.

The matron of the orphanage who said her name was Jessica Alverson looked at me and asked, "Good sir do you know who this girl is? The only identifying marker was a name under her clothing that simply said Leah," I shook my head in denial.

This causes the matron to ponder the girl's fate as while she was able to check for her identity, it will take time for the information to be sent here from the city.

I then recommend that they keep the girl here for safekeeping as her previous lodgings weren't exactly healthy or safe, which they seem to agree to, and as the girl has no recognizable Parents or Guardians, they're able to do so.

As we finish discussing the girl's future, she seems to rouse from her slumber and looks around, almost curious about where she is.

"Um who are you people and where am I?" Leah asks while looking at me which makes sense as I am hiding my ears and hair.

Jessica then looks to the young girl, sits down beside her, and says, "Well, little lady, this gentleman over here found you in the alleyway alone do you have any parents or Guardians we could call to come get you?"

The girl then looks down and shakes her head slowly and remains silent which causes me to frown but then I remember that this isn't my world and I have already done what I needed to do.

And if I tried to fix the Marvel universe that would take centuries because this place is a mess in addition to the fact that this place is constantly retconned and reset back to the status quo and the only way to fix that would be to separate it from the entire Multiverse but seeing as this may be the main 616 universe that would cause the entire Multiverse to just disintegrate.

In addition to the fact that I would have to deal with extra-dimensional threats like the beyonders Kang, Thanos,  and Galactus among the 50,000 different other cosmic threats, and the beyonders alone make the entities from worm look like ants in comparison.

For now, my mission is complete as I saved the little lost girl, and I should leave.

But before I was able to do so, the girl had gotten off the bed, tugged at my sleeve, and asked, "Are you leaving?"

"I am," but instead of her getting sad, she smiles and then whispers into my ear, and she says, "I get it. You got superhero work to do."

This genuinely shocks me as she believes I'm a superhero which, even if I technically am a superpowered individual a hero I am not, but I'll allow the girl to believe this fantasy.

I know to her and whisper back "Yeah you see I'm actually one of Spider-Man's sidekicks I just don't like to go out in public too much don't want to risk revealing his identity you know."

She then giggles and smiles, lets go of my arm, and gives me a thumbs up which I return and I proceed to let my hood down for her to see my ears which makes her wide-eyed and smile.

I then proceeded to bid farewell to all the members of the orphanage, and as I headed out the door, I decided to give the girl one last little show and use my creation Magic to Fashion myself a makeshift spider suit using my nanites.

I then proceed to fire my web and swing through the city with the girl smiling in utter happiness that she finally got to see and talk to a hero in her eyes.

As I made it to Times Square, I disabled the suit and returned to my normal look and saw Avengers Tower in the distance I have varying opinions of the different members of The Avengers, but I tell you what is inspiring about that architecture.

A bastion of hope amidst the city that never sleeps, and now that I am remaining still and calm, I feel the gazes of many individuals on me I can't see them, but I know they're watching, and then I proceed to write a little message on the snow.

And as quickly as I appeared, I was gone.

Omni POV:

As we pan out from New York City to the stars above and continue onwards we see a group of figures in a circle looking towards where our hero had just disappeared.

One of the figures a man who looks half white and half black vertically begins to laugh after seeing what the man had written in the snow.

Another of the figures is a somehow female-looking skeleton who begins to look annoyed at the message left specifically for her.

The Message: Have fun dating a bunch of necrophiliacs you bony b****.

The skeletal woman then leaves in silence as the rest of them look almost amused at the message.

The inbetweener is practically dying on the floor as a being of chaos he loves these types of things while being like eternity in the Living Tribunal just looking on with unreadable expressions.

But then there is one oddity out of all of them as there's just a looking human old man with glasses and a mustache he smiles at the message and simply says " Well my daughter definitely does pull off that look. But I hope to see him again he'll be interesting to watch."

And as all of the celestial beings begin to leave, the old man then looks towards the sky and smiles as if waiting for a story to be told.
