Chapter 28: Library

These men are torturing me. I wanted to cry out in sexual frustration but I forced myself to focus on Chase instead. Maybe he was the distraction I was looking for, even if it was not sexual. His face was perfect, not a blemish or wrinkle was visible. Chase looked like chiseled marble and if it wasn't for his shallow breathing I would think he might be. His grey eyes were stormy and shined with unmatched fierceness. I could really get lost in their depths.

He started to read out loud and his voice was addicting and attractive. He was a great story teller acting out every emotion the characters were feeling. Not long at all into the novel I found myself entranced by every word.

At some point I laid my head down in Chase's lap and closed my eyes. His words created a scene inside my brain almost as if I was watching a movie. His arm came down and rested on my belly. His thumb caressed my side and I felt loss every time he pulled away to flip a page.

We stayed like this for hours just enjoying each other's company and a love for books. He stopped reading and his hand began stroking my hair back away from my face. I wanted to protest from my dissatisfaction of him laying down the book and creating this silence in the large room. Chase's hand combing through my hair quieted my protest before it ever stared. His touch was relaxing and nice. I felt at ease with him in this moment. My wolf no longer bristled at his nearness and we felt at peace with one another.

The clock on the wall chimed and I opened my eyes reluctantly. He was looking down at me when he spoke, "It is almost time for dinner, Little Wolf. Are you ready to go?". I shook my head no and closed my eyes. I felt laughter shake his body and I peaked my eyes open to see his toothy grin. Were those... fangs? My eyes widened in disbelief. "What?", he asked. I sat up on the couch scanning his perfect face and muscular body. "What are you?", I finally mustered up the courage to ask.

He took my hand in his and inside my head I heard his voice, "I am vampire". I stared in awe at him. "Vampires don't exist?", I choked out before I began laughing hard and loud. Of course vampires existed I chastised myself, just like werewolves and other supernatural creatures existed. Chase began laughing with me and it was real and uncalculated unlike most of his actions. I loved seeing him in this very instance. I reached a hand out and messed up that perfect hair like I had been wanting to do since day one.
