Chapter 7

I sighed loudly and closed my eyes, trying to find my way through the maze of memories, some fake, some blurry like a dead end. At that moment I had to follow my way out of the maze and stray away from trying to find something which won't come to my, itself.

"MIRA!" I gasped as someone waved their hand in my face, making me blink and snap back to reality.

Oh...It was only Orica.

I decided to avoid the question as much as possible. "What do you mean by who am I?" I smiled innocently to hide the nervousness in my voice.

Orica sighed and rubbed her temples in frustration.

"I meant...who are you...to be like that..." She looked me up and down which made me do the same, trying to find out what was so interesting to her.

"Why are you so perfect?"

I widened my eyes, I was far from perfect.

"You might be the typical new girl but to me you're a star burning everything around you and making it light up. You already broke many rules you don't even know about. You made yourself noticed without caring about the consequences. You have a good heart and you're the first person who'd do what you'd do."

I looked down and grit my teeth. This was the last thing I ever wanted. To be noticed. To attract attention.

"Thanks..." I managed to mumble.

"You're stunning, gorgeous, strong and you have captivating eyes that I've never seen before-"

"Orica please stop." I felt myself bite my lip.

"I am sorry Mira, but you're my hero." Her beautiful blue eyes was tearing as she looked at me.

I exhaled. "I'm a new junior. There is nothing special about me. I just do what my instinct leads me to." I smiled at her and walked around her.

On our way to the cafeteria Orica spoke up again, snapping me out of my empty thoughts.

"Alright since you are new. I am going to tell you how everything works in this school."

I nodded my head without uttering a word.

"There is the Popular Group. People like to link them as T.H.E.M.

There are 12 Head Lead Members in the Group. They run the school. The others who sit with them are just 'lapdogs'."

"That's...weird..." I bit my lip.

"Then there is Cassie Manoot." She smiled at my reaction and continued.

"Cassie and Morgue is the Principal's only children."

I felt chills of panic run through my spine. "Morgue is in my homeroom class."

"Hm, yes he is a junior too." Orica smiled.

"Cassie is a senior just like me and Corgi. She is in first position of course. Then we have Corgi in second position. Corgi's little brother is in third position."

"The heartless thing has a little brother?" I laughed sarcastically.

"Yes, Mira, he is a junior as well and his name is Coral Cameroon."

I felt my blood run cold and chills running through my spine.

I felt like time just stopped.

"I met him. Coral." I shivered. I wasn't going to tell her that I was touched by the demon.

"He isn't as bad as his brother..." she had to lick her lips, I think she felt sorry for him.

"Then in fourth place is some guy, but I can't remember his name, also senior."

"Morgue is in fifth place for some reason."

"Who exactly is Corgi?" I rolled my eyes at the fact that he didn't even remotely intimidate me.

"He is just one selfish jerk that breaks girl's hearts like the King. Not only that he is the schools. Bad boy. Player. Nice guy and Jock. Pretty much slept with half of the school."

I held my hand out to tell her I heard enough and she nodded.

When we entered the cafeteria all eyes was on us and I smirked at the looks of hate directed our way. The perfect thing to do was to grab Orica's hand and challenge every single one who was glaring at her. If they wanted a staring contest, I can burn their eyes. We made her way towards Kera who was busy drawing.

"Oh Mira there you-" Kera cut herself off when she saw Orica.

"What are you crazy?! She is going to attract attention to this table." Kera gripped her hair.

I shook my head. "No she isn't. Even if she does, they can go fuck themselves."

"Actually I am." Orica answered and gaped at the fact that I just cussed, she probably considered me the innocent type.

"Why is Corgi so popular?" I asked out of nowhere.

"Because of his drop dead gorgeous looks." Kera rolled her eyes.

"Yes, he has a lot to thank to Cassie too. All the guys are 'friends' with her. Secretly they all hate her as much as we do." Orica sighed and bit her nails.

"Cassie likes to hang with them as friends. She is a virgin and never been kissed before. She never showed romantic feelings for Corgi or the others. But she is secretly just as crazy about them how we are." Kera giggled at the end.

We are?

Just when I was about to open my mouth, the bell cut me off. Next up, Science.

Orica and Kera smiled back at me as I waved goodbye. "See you guys, next break or Lunch?"

"Yeah." Kera smiled brighter than I saw her smile before.

"See you Mira." Orica waved sadly.

I did not know what to expect when I entered my next class. The teacher was already in the class and the students making noise as usual. The teacher was scrambling and flipping through the papers on his desk. This must be my Science teacher. I took a seat closest to the front since no one wanted to sit next to me. They were whispering things about me behind my back. I gasped as the teacher walked up to me and grabbed me, pulling me out my chair. The action made me fall to the floor in the process and the class fall silent. Scrambling to my feet, he pulled me towards the front.

"Now that you brutes are all quiet down. I would like to introduce you to my newest student, Mira Sluvashki." I blushed in embarrassment, he even pronounced my name right.

"I phoned her school and no she is not an exchange student. She is pretty clever and was in the top three in her science class. So if I was you, I would pay mind to it. Please do not be fools and embarrass her. We need people like her that's actually serious about what matters." He glared at the class.

I was about to open my mouth when-

"How dare you stare at her like she is a piece of meat! She is your classmate you fool!"

Wait what...At that second the class looked away from me.

"That's better."

"Now don't disappoint me and behave yourself!"

I didn't even know who he was talking to anymore.

"Excuse me sir." I blush as I spun around.

He looked back at me directly. His eyes attacking mine. Everything was so awkward now.

"Yes? Miss Sluvashki?" I blushed a little at his good-looking features. He must be young.

He reminds me so much of how my dad looked when he was younger.

Dad...no stop it! Science time!

"I um I don't know your name."

I froze as his eyebrows knit together.

"It's Mr Alan Covert."

I was snapped out of my thoughts by his strict voice. "Now go sit down Miss Sluvashki."

I sat down and as soon as I did everything returned normal again.

"Take out your books." He commanded.

I shrugged and took out my books. He went to the board to write something down.

'19'

I narrowed my eyes in confusion.

"Shame on you! Only a few of you had your books out. The rest of you are cowards and didn't come here to learn!" He shouted as he spun around.

But its the first school day!

"So for your punishment. I'm not your teacher anymore. You have this lesson off. Do what ever stuff that's appropriate in your eyes. I really don't care. You may even bunk class. I don't care. I didn't study becoming your teacher to baby you all the time. So learn!" With that he walked back to his desk and flopped onto it. He stared back at me and I quickly looked away because he noticed I was staring at him. But I can't help it! He is nice to look at!

Little did I know what was waiting behind my back for me.

A single touch, a single voice and a single smile of one guy could change my whole world in seconds.

"Hello Mira, you seem to have made quite a name for yourself already."

The way he said my name made my legs feel like marshmallows being roasted. The marshmallows my knees at least. My heart hammered in my chest as he walked around my desk to confront my flustered face.

My vision was blurry but as we shook hands, his smile was all I could clearly see.

"I am Morgue, Manoot."

Only four words had the power to turn my whole world upside down.
