96 Birds-and-the-Bees (II)

Alex stared at his father, completely confused.

"Birds and the bees?" he repeated, "Why are you suddenly going 'National Geographic' when you were talking about the seedier part of society? Nature is the most pure of all!"

Kyle had to laugh at that and he rubbed his chin, as if he was in deep contemplation.

"The 'birds and the bees' talk is just a slang," Kyle explained with a slight smile, "How that term began and how it got stuck to refer to giving kids the talk about how humans reproduce - or sex - is quite hazy though it kinda refers to springtime when Nature is doing its best to bring life back. You know, the air is full of sights such as the bees pollinating the flowers and the birds coupling. That sort of thing."

Kyle's smile got slightly wider as he continued, "Though the more popular belief is that it is most likely that the phrase, as a euphemism for sex, was inspired by at least two writers. One being Samuel Coleridge Taylor's poem, 'Work Without Hope', which was composed 1825."

"All nature seems at work,

The bees are stirring--birds are on the wing

and I the while, the sole unbusy thing, not honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing."

Alex just continued to stare at his father as he went on his usual spiel of useless information - or rather, what he, Alex, deemed to be useless information. Who cared about the origins of the phrase?

What was it his father said?

Human reproduction?

Sex?

"There was even a song about it, by Jewel Akens," Kyle mused, remembering the darn lyrics and how it just got stuck in his mind despite it being so ridiculous. Perhaps it was the catchy tune or the hidden 'risque' meaning in them?

Thinking about it now, the song played in his mind : 'Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees, And the flowers and the trees, And the moon up above, And a thing called love ... Let me tell ya 'bout the stars in the sky, And a girl and a guy, And the way they could kiss...'

Kyle turned to look at his son, his mouth slightly open as if he was going to actually sing it when he saw the complete disdain in his son's eyes.

Coughing a bit in slight embarrassment, Kyle went all serious again as if the earlier faux pas did not happen.

"To be honest, you're still considered too young to know about this," Kyle said with a sigh, "But in our line of 'work', so to speak, it's best that you're mentally prepared and be more aware."

"The eternal question kids would ask would be, 'Where do babies come from?'," Kyle began, "Though I suppose in your case, you'd just google it and find out in your own way. The bad part of that is that you'll get all sorts of information and some may not be too accurate."

"A human life, or a baby, is created through the miracle of a single sperm fertilizing an egg," Kyle started, "And that is the basic science of it. However, I won't go into that as that's not the issue or what is important here. You'll learn all that in school anyway."

Kyle took a deep breath, saying, "The sperm is produced by the male, while the egg to be fertilized is produced by the female."

"So, what you need to know, and what is important here, is the mechanics of how the sperm gets to where the egg is," Kyle continued.

Kyle stopped and looked at his son.

Alex, who was listening to all of this, was getting rather perplexed.

He heard what his father was saying, and his brain was quick to try and put the dots together.

What made him freeze, for the time being, was not how the man produced the sperm (whatever that was) or how the woman could make eggs (like a chicken??) ... but how did the sperm get to the egg?

Alex knew that women who were pregnant, had babies in their stomachs, and they would give birth once the babies were big enough.

Heck, he remembered his life as a baby in his mother's stomach.

Yet, he had not been curious enough to wonder how he got in there.

He just assumed he grew in there ... but now, it appears though he did 'grow' inside, he must have been 'put there' to grow?

As the gears of his brain were working in order to connect the dots, his father gave him the fatal blow.

"I told you before that your d*ck does more than just pee," Kyle said slowly, "It also shoots the sperm."

"Shoots?!" Alex nearly shouted it out and couldn't help but stare at his crotch.

Then, looking at his father in horror, he said, "You put your dick in Mummy's mouth?!"

To Alex, since the baby grew in the stomach, then the egg must be in the stomach and there was only one way to get anything into the stomach...

Kyle nearly choked on that for yes, he does but he knew that's not what Alex was asking.

Alex can learn about the various ways to have sex later.

Much later.

"Well, perhaps some science is needed after all," Kyle mumbled, though was loud and clear enough for Alex to hear, "Babies don't grow in the stomach Alex. There's a separate and special place, called the womb."

"And..." Kyle began, hesitating a bit before plunging forward, "Well, both female and male have internal and external reproductive organs. The external ones join together."

Alex blinked.

External reproductive organs?

Which organs would his father be referring to....?

When the penny dropped, Alex's eyes went wide.

This was worse than putting the dick in the mouth!

It was ... it was ...

He couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that his father would ... would ... with his mother ... kissing and hugging was fine and normal but ... but ...

Seeing the shock and comprehension on his son's face, Kyle nodded but still said to confirm that Alex didn't misunderstand, and said rather crudely, "Yes, the dick enters the vagina."

Alex couldn't help but close his ears childishly, and when he realised it, he took a deep breath as he calmed himself down.

Just the thought of those two organs ... meeting ...

He shuddered, and looked at his father with slight disgust, saying with a slightly shaky voice, "To think you'd do that ... well, at least it was only twice."

At this, Kyle blinked.

Twice?

Twice a day, maybe ...

Kyle wanted to laugh when he understood what his son meant. Since Sayuri had given birth twice, then naturally, the 'act' was only done twice.

He covered his mouth to hide the inappropriate smile and chose not to correct his son's misconception. Knowing about sex was bad enough, then realising his parents were having sex was worse.

Finding out that they hardly stopped would probably be too much for his mind to handle right now.

Or ever.

"Well, if you find that rather disturbing thought," Kyle said, "Imagine when an adult male does it with a young girl."

"But how can it fit?!" Alex said in absolute horror and even shuddered at the thought.

"With great difficulty for the guy and great pain for the girl," Kyle said softly, "Most of the time, the internal damage done is beyond saving."

Alex's eyes went red as several thoughts and images filled his mind.

Images of the 'what ifs' rather than images of what he'd seen.

"And," Kyle said, "It's not just adult male on little girls. It can be little boys, too."

Alex wasn't a stranger to two men being together, since Uncle Xing Han was married to Uncle Nitocris. However, he had not known about sex before and now, he couldn't help but wonder.

How..?

"You do have another hole, you know," Kyle reminded him.

On reflex, Alex's chrysanthemum flower - or to put it more crudely, his butthole - clenched.

Just thinking of something going in there made his eyes go wide open again.

Alex was still in a daze when he felt his shoulder being patted.

"I know this is rather a huge info dump on you," Kyle said with a sigh, "And I would have preferred to give you this sort of talk when you are about to enter puberty. That would make it less horrifying and more of 'satisfying curiosity', so to speak."

"Why would that make any difference?" Alex asked with a shudder as his father took his hand off his shoulder.

He couldn't imagine his thoughts to be any different when he's older. Sex sounded horrible and painful. To think that his parents had to go and do this, twice, just to have children boggled his mind.

He was never going to have sex!

Of course, if Kyle had known about this little thought from his son, he would have never let Alex forget it when the latter grew older.
