Ch 142 – Mission Done, or is It?

'Assassination truly is a profitable job. You just have to kill someone and then you can earn millions of dollars!' Raiden smiled. He can now be seen wearing a crimson hoodie over a black shirt, along with black pants. He has his hands pocketed, while his fair white skin was illuminated by the street lights running along the silent streets he was walking on.

Considering he needs a place without that much disturbance to create a dimensional anchor with lowered risk, he lives in a pretty silent neighborhood without that many people walking out in the dead of the night unlike the bustling part of the city.

If anyone else were to walk in the dead of the night in this situation, to walk on streets in complete silence with all the houses having their lights turned off, they would have been scared shitless already. But considering Raiden has the ability to become larger than the solar system and swallow an entire star in the simulation, he doesn't feel scared at all.

'But it is strange.'

Raiden looked around the area with a raised eyebrow, as if noticing a strange pattern.

'Why are all the lights in the houses turned off? There should at least be a few houses that have their lights turned on.' Raiden looked around, he has already noticed this a good while ago, and now he was deciding whether he should just use his causality manipulation to see the cause of this phenomenon or not.

'Speak of the devil and he shall come. So there would be assassins appearing in 10 seconds?' Raiden was greeted by a strange vision after continuing to walk for a little longer, his eyes gleaming in surprise as he experienced the vision first-hand.

There he was, silently walking down the streets when a group of cloaked figures suddenly surrounded him. They were all assassins from the looks of it, and he could feel their thick killing intent lashing at him, their intentions can be clearly observed as they brandished their knives and weapons at him.

'Hmm, let's see. So there's that weird snake tattoo on their necks. Let's see…' Raiden thought, his whole world rapidly slowing down while a transparent screen appeared in front of him.

'Assassins with Snake Tattoos.' Raiden thought.

As if responding to his thoughts, the screen changed after a second and showed him a passage of text and images. It was akin to a search engine, and yet, even with such a broad inquiry, Raiden was greeted by the exact information he needed.

'Oh, so that's why it was familiar. They're one of the strongest assassin guilds in Japan, the Snake Society. All of their assassins are highly trained and the ones that will surround me in 3 seconds are able to assassinate an S Rank Hunter without that much difficulty. But then, why?'

Wagging his finger, Raiden's vision changed and he was greeted by a series of visuals innumerable in amount. Then, as he stopped at a certain scene, his face morphed into one of understanding and slight regret.

'Oh, so my contractor for killing Hara Koji was a guy sent out to test me and my capabilities. Now that the Snake Society knows of my talent, they're planning to recruit me, and if I refuse, I'd get killed. Pretty cliché to be honest, but it is shocking to experience something like this. Like, they'd kill someone over that? Sigh, maybe I should increase my paranoia like my father, maybe a thousandth of his paranoia will do.' Raiden contemplated that before time move forward once more at a normal pace.

Halting his steps, multiple blurs suddenly appeared around him and he was surrounded by multiple cloaked figures. The atmosphere in the area hastily turned freezing cold, at that moment, any normal person would be paralyzed in fear and have goosebumps pop up all over their body from the killing intent flooding in.

'Ha! Their killing intent doesn't even have a physical manifestation like mine! Newbies, any first-rated assassin from Terra would have killing intent miasma already!' Raiden snickered, his eyes staring at the people around him condescendingly.

"I didn't expect the rookie assassin to just be a kid."

"Age doesn't matter when it comes to actual skill. But it does show how much potential he holds."

"Yeah, being able to kill Hara Koji while still being a kid is scary."

"Look at him, he doesn't even fear us at all even though our killing intent would make a grown man piss their pants."

"Enough talking, let's get down to business."

As the supposed leader of the group walked forward, Raiden felt slightly bored considering he has already experienced this with his future vision always activated, most of the time being 10 seconds ahead into the future.

'Maybe I should turn it off? Being able to know what they would do just makes the fun of mystery be completely gone from my life.' Raiden contemplated, and absentmindedly listened to the guy in front of him.

"Crimson King, we are members of the Snake Society, the 8th most powerful assassin group in all of Japan. Now, you have two choices. Either you join us and grow in power, or refuse to die as a simple unknown."

The leader announced with a cold voice, while everyone around him flared up their killing intents. Weapons can be seen being taken out by the assassins of Snake Society around him, each gleaming under the street lamps that would terrify any normal person who is facing those weapons.

'To refuse or to accept?'

As Raiden took out a coin from his pocket, the others pointed their weapons at him and wondered what he plans to do.

"Don't be scared, I'm just deciding if I should accept or not. If heads, I'll accept; If tails, I'll refuse."

With a flick, the coin was tossed into the air and landed on Raiden's open palm covered by his other palm. The assassins around neared closer, wondering what the result of the coin flip was. Considering they sensed that Raiden didn't cheat, it made them know that the coin flip was truly random without any strings attached.

Slowly, his palm was pulled away from the covered coin. The fate of his life depended on this, well not really considering he can still accept even if it is tails, that is if he ever planned to accept it in the first place.

'Rule Set: Whoever looks at this coin will die by having their brains shut down in an instant.'

Not noticing the strange power that grabs hold of the coin, they all focused their eyes on the coin while Raiden simply closes his. Many snickered, thinking that Raiden was too scared to know what his fate was.

But, out of nowhere, the assassins all around him suddenly fell down to the ground with a thud. Hearing the indicator of their deaths, Raiden opened his eyes to see the assassins all around him successfully died, and he put the coin into a tear in space that appeared from nowhere.

Putting his coin in a pocket dimension, Raiden crouches down and tapped the bodies of the assassins around him. One by one, their bodies slowly dissipated away into nothingness, leaving not even a trace of their existence in the area.

Standing up, Raiden tore open a new rift in front of him glowing a harsh crimson light. Walking through it, Raiden lightly yawned and found himself arriving at a strange gloomy room with cloaked figures surrounding him with their blades brandished, their collective killing intent dyed the room red, clearly showing they were assassins of higher caliber compared to the previous ones he just erased from existence.

'So this is the Snake Society headquarters. It's gloomier than I thought. I wouldn't even want to join this assassin guild if this is how it looks. They really should learn that tradition isn't key to having a great assassin organization.'

Looking at the area around him with cold, apathetic eyes, he watches as an old man slowly stood up from a chair in the distance and arrives in front of him with a single tap to the ground, leaving behind a whooshing sound.

"Who might you be-"

*Snap*

As Raiden snapped his fingers, he watches as the old man, the leader of Snake Society, suddenly vanished away into ashes at an alarming rate, shocking the assassins in the room.

To see their revered leader, one of the strongest assassins to currently exist on Earth, just die from a single snap, it would scare the living daylights out of everyone in the room. But they quickly regained their bearings as the last bit of their leader vanish into dust.

"You dare!"

"You shall pay for this!"

"Argh!"

'Ha! More cliché lines. Well, you guys were at fault for trying to assassinate me. Like, I did nothing wrong other than the fact that I was talented. Obviously, I'm one of those one-in-a-hundred-year genius in their eyes, so it's understandable that they will try to recruit me, if not, kill me. Sigh, I really didn't want to do this considering the dimensional anchor would have been completed today at midnight and we would have been leaving Japan already. Oh well, what's done is done. Not really, considering I could have prevented this with some minor alterations to the past but eh, too risky (too lazy).'

As he watches everyone in the room vanish into dust and those dust disappears from the face of the Earth entirely; a total removal of their atoms from Earth. He heads out of the room to eradicate the entire guild from the universe, not even leaving their atoms behind including their soul.

'Huh, I guess this is kind of cruel, but better be safe than sorry.'

Shrugging his shoulders, Raiden was then enveloped in crimson sparks and he hastily eradicated everyone in the Snake Society's headquarters. Not only that, he even gained a list of its members and created a crimson orb, inputting down the targets he wanted to be killed, and causing everyone he put as a target to vanish away into nothingness at the safest timeframe.

So, them vanishing away while they're eating in a restaurant won't happen, that'd be something too stupid for him to do.

'Yawn, killing people really is cumbersome when it requires a lot of finest to not affect the other plans. Oh well, Nicolas should already be done with the dimensional anchor once I arrive home.'

Standing up with a yawn, Raiden waves his arms, and a crimson tear in space appeared in front of him. Walking through it, Raiden finds himself back in the silent night street of his neighborhood with the moon hanging in the middle of the night sky above him, illuminating the area lightly with its lunar glow.

And so, he continued to walk in the silent night for a while. Along the way, nothing eventful happened other than him meeting a stray cat that was starving, so he gave it some high luck along with restoring it to tip-top shape.

"There you go, little guy."

Waving goodbye to the cat that now looks a lot healthier compared to its malnourished state from before, Raiden finally arrives at his home in Japan and opened the door.

"Oh, you're finally home."

There he was, a man with fluffy brown hair and wise blue eyes, wearing a white shirt and black pants. Mysteriously, one can see some cloaked figures being dissected in front of him over a blue platform made from mana.

"It seems like you're already finished with the dimensional anchor if you're busy with another experiment, Olfen."

Raiden walked nonchalantly, noticing that those cloaked figures were most likely from Snake Society who came to probably set up some traps in his house. But unfortunately for them, they met Nicolas and now they're his undead servants.

"Yeah."

Snapping his fingers, Nicolas revealed a strange pillar of purple light suddenly appear in the middle of the living room, warping the fabrics of space-time around it.

"Well, I guess that's mission done in Japan!"

"Yep, and now we're probably going to do China next then the US, and then-"

Just as Nicolas Olfen was speaking, they suddenly halted their movements and was greeted by a purple screen.

As if surprised by its sudden appearance, both read the contents of the screen and muttered with a raised eyebrow, "Oh, it seems like our job isn't over yet."
