1 Prologue

It's night now; nightfall was prowling around us. There's complete silence. I can't hear anything except for my heavy breathing and Aesira's impatient stomping.

"Let's go now, Rona", Aesira said through the mind link.

I looked at Aesira as she walked impatiently across the path and made her way gently around the branches of the tree leaning towards us.

The full moon made her red fur look like flames as it found its way to shine down on us through the thick tree crowns. "Yeah, let's go", I replied through the mind link.

Aesira took the lead and soon found a stable rhythm that I could quickly sink in.

She leaped joyfully over a rock and made a great leap over a river that crossed our way. I followed her lead as we made our way deeper into the forest.

We had run for two consecutive days now, and the forest we traversed was large and thick with trees and wildlife.

But we didn't have an issue with that. The other animals ran when they sensed we were on our way. We're two big werewolves, after all. And humans have been scarce in this area of the woods.

But we did shift back to our human form during the daytime; we could not risk being seen by a "normal" human in our wolf form. It might end badly because werewolves were a myth, and we needed to keep it that way. Even though we exist, we have lived amongst men for eternity.

Oh yes, I'm a werewolf, by the way, my name is Rona, and my human is called Marise. I'm no ordinary werewolf; I'm a black wolf. I am one of the strongest amongst our breeds. We are not that type of werewolf that walk on two legs and have eight arms and two head kind of wolf. We look like ordinary wolves but duplicates or triples.

We're massive compared to a regular wolf now that I think about it. So, now that we have this out in the open, I guess it's time I put Marise in the spotlight since this story is about her.

But don't worry, I'll be there; I mean, I'm her soul. I am her wolf, Rona.
