Fight, Flight, or Freeze: The Healer's Story

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up in a body that wasn't yours? A much, much younger body? I can't say that I had ever given it much thought. That was until one night when a patient entered the ER where I was working at and shot me point blank in the head. You know, if he wanted a second opinion, all he had to do was ask. But that's besides the point... Some how, some way, I work up in a strange hospital with a woman that looked suspiciously like my mother holding my hand and crying. Over joyed to see her, it took me a few minutes to realize that I was no longer the 25 year old, successful doctor at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world. Nope, I was a 6 year old girl that for a moment... wanted her mother. When the apocalypse comes, it is everyone for themselves. I have three choices: do I fight for what I want? Will I run away and hide, or will I freeze when the demons of my past come back to haunt me? You might know me as the Healer, but this is my story to tell. ------ Fight, Flight, or Freeze is the second novel in the Rebirth in the Apocalypse series, this time featuring the Healer: Wang Tian Mu and her men. You won't have to read the first one to be able to understand this one, and she is not going to stay a child for the whole thing. Li Dai Lu and her guys will be popping in occasionally, but this is strictly Wang Tian Mu's story! I hope you enjoy! What He Wanted

The creature with the white eyes paused for a second, his head cocking to the side as he studied Fan Teng Fei and Si Dong.

"You belong to the Healer?" he asked. Fan Teng Fei was sure that if the darkness had eyebrows, one of them would be raised.

Fan Teng Fei nodded his head, not backing down from that statement.

"You better hurry up and lock yourself up," he continued. "The calvary is coming, and they aren't going to stop for anyone."

Fan Teng Fei and Si Dong nodded their heads. "Understood. And thank you," called out Si Dong as he and his teammate raced around the creature and sprinted as fast as they could to the gates.

More and more people were stumbling out of the stands, the skin literally melting off of their bodies until there was nothing left but a skeleton.

However, something like that should have killed them, so why didn't they die?

Did they not know they were dead?
