Chapter 2

As I pulled onto the gravel road, I saw Jackie and Amber sitting on a picnic bench up ahead. I parked next to Jackie's Mustang and got out. "What took you so long?" Jackie said teasingly with a grin on her face. "I'm starving"

"Mom stopped me on the way out the door, and you know her. She likes to talk. "

"Oh. Tell her hi for me when you get home then. I don't want her feeling left out." Amber said. "Really? You're going to feel bad for not inviting someone's mom?!" Jackie replied yet again teasingly. "Well we got to set a good impression on her. Besides, she does lots of things for us, why not do things for her for a change?"

"because she's my mom" I said. "Whatever" she said back with a smile because she knew I wouldn't do it. "Anyways! Let's eat. I'm starving" Jackie said as ahe reached for the basket hanging on my wrist. Letting her have it, I sat down on the bench with them to eat because I, for one, was also hungry. With some chatting and lots of eating, the afternoon slowly ebbed away.
