“Super wolf soldiers?” I said. “Seems an odd choice.”
But again, Simon shook his head. “You can’t splice human and wolf genes, Lucas. Just like I’ve kept on saying.” His head came to a standstill. “No, you’re not a super wolf, have no wolf genes in you at all. Your own genes were simply enhanced.” To which he added, “You’re not a super wolf, Lucas; you’re superhuman.”
“But the wolves, my powers?” I objected with.
“Just a fluke,” he replied. “Your powers enabled you to live among them. They were similar to theirs, but not the same, not really. Perhaps the wolves sensed this. Maybe that’s why they were willing to adopt you.” He smiled. Or at least tried to. “Or you were simply a cute baby, too adorable to abandon.”
