3 3. An Awkward Conversation

A few hours later all the executives were in Riveria's room keeping an eye on the girl sleeping on the same bed again discussing what had just happened. "I think it was Momma's muttering that scared the girl" said Loki with a smirk earning a scowl from the mentioned elf. "Anyone would be frightened if they woke up in a strange location but being so frightened of Bete does bring up some important questions" reasoned Finn with the other executives nodding their heads in approval only for Loki to have a devilish smile and respond, "if you were running away and came face to face with a standing wolf, wouldn't you be in the same position as the girl over there?" There was no reply from anyone as what Loki had said was the truth and nobody refuted her even if Bete was grumbling about it.

Quietly waking up again after her last experience the girl quietly shifted around until fully conscious but unmoving so as not to alert the other people in the room, only catching the last part of Loki's sentence. Being the most observant of everyone in the room Loki noticed this little fact and started wondering what the girl must have gone through to have reactions like this. The conversations between everyone extended for another few minutes until the goddess reminded everyone that they had some work to do and that she would remain behind to look after the girl. Riveria wanted to protest as this was their room they were in but Loki just waved her away saying something about her old books in her personal library that she could go through to find clues.

When it was eventually only the two them left in the room with the girl still pretending to sleep, Loki put on a serious face and said with a stern tone "girl, I know you've been awake for a while now. Maybe it's time we introduced one another." Realising she can't fool the red headed woman the girl also woke up and looked around wearily before sitting upright in the bed facing the goddess and clutching at her bedsheets. "Who are you and where am I?" Hearing this Loki frowned, 'she doesn't recognise me, not from Orario then' while answering with "shouldn't you introduce yourself first girl? You are the one staying in my home after all" at this the only response the goddess got was a frown and a look of focus on the girl's face as though recalling something. "I asked first and this might be your house but I don't remember how I got here. As hostess, you shouldn't you greet your guests first?" 'Definitely educated, and quick witted. Let's indulge in her questions a little' with a sigh Loki stood up before the girl and made a dramatic bow, "Goddess Loki, owner of the Twilight Mannor and one of the top familia in Orario" smiled Loki. It's not often you get to see a person's facial expression changes as the thought of something but much to Loki's amusement this is exactly what was happening to the girl before her. "Care to share your name and some information about yourself girl?" Loki added in a softer tone, if she could help someone she would.

"My name is…" the girl trailed off. 'Why can't I remember my name?!? Why can't I remember my parents?' and then it dawned on her, making her mutter out barely audible but enough that Loki heard "I died." Slowly looking up toward the goddess the girl was on the brink of tears, not even hesitating Loki enveloped the little girl before her in a hug and caressed her head as the rears finally broke free and the girl started wailing into her shoulder. It was at this moment that Finn returned to check up on his goddess that he found the girl crying into her shoulder and Loki signalling for him te leave. Receiving a nod in reply and slowly closing the door as not to disturb the two Finn left them alone again. The girl cried and cried and Loki's heart bled for her, not knowing what she meant by 'died' but knowing that she needed comfort in that moment.

Slowly calming down but still clutching at Loki as though her life depended on it the girl finally going over everything the person before her had said. Loki wanted more information from the girl but didn't want to trigger anything too extreme spoke in a gentle voice "do you think you could let go now? I promise it will only be you and me, no interruptions and complete honesty." Receiving only a nod in return and slowly being let go of, Loki sat down in front of the girl but still within arms reach, "good, let's start with a name" receiving only a nod in return and then a look of focus from the girl. Under different circumstances Loki would have made a comment about her face but seeing the girl concentrating so hard and the delicate situation she was in the goddess refrained from her usual actions. "I don't have one. I don't remember" was the reply Loki got after a few minutes of silence. Not expecting this Loki frowned, detecting no lie in that statement she decided to ask the big question on her mind "what did you mean when you said you died?" A soft sigh and a self depreciation smile was on the girl's face as she replied "exactly as I said, I know for a fact that I had passed away. This is neither my body or anywhere I'm familiar with." Loki's slit like eyes opened a little at the girl's statement as the many possibilities started being coming up in her mind and being dismissed at the same pace. "You are not from here then?" the goddess asked. Receiving only a small snort from the girl as she looked at the goddess as though she were the biggest idiot to grace the continent, "my memory has a lot of holes in it but I do have an idea now after your introduction and if you are who you say you are." This caught Loki's attention "care to explain?" was all she responded with. "If this is the city of Orario" the girl looked at Loki for confirmation, only to receive a nod in return "then I have either been put or pulled into a work of fiction from where I'm from." This immediately caught Loki's attention, 'so she's not from this world and knows that she died where she's from. She must become part of my familia regardless of the consequences' Loki only responded to that statement with a raised eyebrow. "Before all the complicated stuff, let's get you a name first girl. Can't keep calling you that. So? What do we call you?" A look of thought overcame the girl as she took in all her surroundings and appearance, in the process realising she was a dark fey.

"Call me, Marlet" was her response after some thought. Loki only nodded and got right down to business, "alright then Marlet, I'll make this easy. Join my familia" she almost shouted with grandeur. "Yea sure" Marlet said almost dismissively making Loki almost stumble and fall. "I thought you would need more convincing?" Loki asked curiously. "Remember how I mentioned to me this place was a work of fiction?" receiving only a nod in response from the goddess "well that means I'm aware of certain things to come, or happen. Not yet sure when I am" stated the girl almost offhandedly making Loki realise the golden goose that this girl has become. Marlet seeing the look in the goddess's eye decided to curb some possible troubles right away, "keep in mind I never invested heavily in said fiction. I'm only aware of certain events that will take place and keep in mind now that by virtue of me being here certain events could have already changed in the future" this made the goddess think long and hard. 'What Marlet said is true but certain events should still take place even with a few changes from her point of view. Worst case scenario is that things changed so drastically she can't recognise it anymore' Marlet only watched the goddess of tricks think on her words.

"Pull up your shirt so I can see your back, I'll give you my falna and we can then decide what we're going to do going forward from there" Loki said twirling her finger. Marlet followed the order given and waited for the goddess to do her thing. Receiving the Loki's falna and waiting to see what her stats would be only to hear a loud "What!!!" from the goddess herself and having the door kicked in by Aiz who heard her goddess's exclamation. Scanning the room for any threats, she noticed what was happening and although very curious she only bowed slightly and left the room again, on her way to inform the captain of the new familia member. Coming back to her senses Loki couldn't help but release an evil chuckle that turned into full blown laughter appearing pretty comical to Marlet. "That good huh?" she questioned, this seemed to snap Loki out of her laughing fit and look at Marnet with a dangerous glint in her eyes "I don't know what some of them mean but you already outclass some newbies" came the response with a feral grin, "take a look if you don't believe me"

"Never heard of your skill and magic but I do know it's very rare to have both as the same name, means it's something special" Loki commented after reading through the status on Marlet's back. Coming to the curse, Loki didn't expect there to be one but upon reading its effects she couldn't help but think what a monster this child could become. Granted she had to work five times harder than everyone else, but at the higher levels, that curse will turn into a blessing. Marlet reading through the paper Loki handed her had her eyes almost pop out her skull reading her DA (development ability) and magic. How could she not, being an avid Skyrim fan in her past life and remembering the entire gameplay like the back of her hand. She tried many things like saying status or panel in her head, even tried saying pause to see if it worked. Releasing a sigh in frustration Marlet could look at the goddess before her and say "if my thinking is correct, I can become one versatile person and you just scored big time" this got another feral grin from Loki. "Let's put that to the side fro now, you said this was a fictional world for you. So what are we going to do?" This caused Marlet to think hard before responding to the goddess's question, eventually she simply shrugged her shoulders and explained the events in the anime as they occurred. She told Loki about Hestia's decent and her first adventurer being a boy with white hair and red eyes. The involvement of the Freya familia in the shadows and how Apollo will challenge Hestia to a war games and lose. She explained that she didn't know any further and that when asked why give her all this information Marlet simply responded with "my very existence is going to change events here now for the better or worse, I can think maybe 2 or 3 steps ahead but you, goddess Loki, can play the long game and that's what I need at the moment."

"How old are you really kid?" Loki asked in pure wonder. No way a child as young as this could have such complicated thought processes. Marlet then explained how she didn't know that either but know she was put into a younger body than what she was when she passed on in her last life. Currently being in the body of a 12 year old would get some getting used to, not to mention all the racial abilities being a dark fey brought as well as her wings, but that last one only made her excited. Which human would t want to be able to fly. "Okay, I think it's time for you to meet the rest of the familia. I'll ask Riveria if you can stay with her until we figure out your magic in case of any accidents, that fine with you?" Loki motioned towards the door, receiving only a deep breath and a nod from Marnet.

Skipping over to the door and swinging it open Loki looked towards her most problematic child and lunged herself at the little girl, hugging her like a koala and rubbing their cheeks together. "Aiz-tan, could you call all the executives for me. We have a few things to discuss with our newest member" receiving only a nod in response and prying the goddess off her Aiz left to call the others.
