Ferd's Secret

My eyes met hers immediately, before I asked the question that has been on my mind for the past few weeks. "How do you know my real name?". It was in that exact moment that Mario took a threatening step towards me and Victor who had been serious this entire time stood up from our table and placed his body between Mario and I. "Why don't you take a step back Mario", Vic glared at him, well I think he was glaring I couldn't exactly see his expression from where I was still seated. "What's going on?", Celeste whispered from beside me. All I could do was shrug. What was going on? Before I could respond to Mario's earlier allegations the sound of static from the speakers over head interrupted the entire room. "Ferdinand Solace, Ferdinand Solace please report to the principals office now", a scraggly voice I assumed was the woman at the front desk said. Those words seemed to douse Mario's temper more and he lunged at me but luckily Victor's unmoving stature was dependable. This time. "I'll ruin you nerd", Mario spat at me. "I swear to God Solace if my brother gets expelled I'll make sure you never show your face here again". It was the way that he'd said my name that definitely got my attention. It was a threat, plain and simple. My face paled much at his words. Was he finally going to use my secret against me? His eye were determined and for the first time I was honestly afraid of what Mario would do.

Ferd don’t be intimidated

The second my eyes met Ariadne's bright blue ones I froze. It turns out Delilah and I had been causing a little scene amongst my classmates openly grinding on each other, considering most of them still shared the belief that I was gay.

I don't care about them though. In fact, I wasn't even looking at Ariadne anymore. My eyes were trained on Mario who was glaring at me with a smug look on his face. He slowly tilted his head as if examining me before he wrapped his arms around Ari's waist, and she leaned into him.

His lips turned up in a smirk he was looking at me with that condescending look like he owned the place.

I mean technically it is his house but whatever.

I did my best to stop the snarl itching to crawl unto my lips and luckily before I could do anything else Jason showed up in front of me with a soda in his hand.

"Who is this?", He asks immediately raising his guard as he hands me the soda. Unaware of all the eyes that were previously staring at me.

"I'm Delilah", she introduces but Jason is already staring at her suspiciously as if she was an undercover assassin sent here by my enemies to finish me off.

I roll my eyes at my bodyguard's protectiveness. It's commendable, but I'm in no real danger here.

At least not from her.

When I glance back at the lovely couple over Jason's shoulder, they are engaged in a lip lock.

Ariadne probably already forgot that I'm even here.

No one else seems to notice but when I feel a hand on my left shoulder, I know at least one person here can see right through me.

"Do you wanna leave Solace?", Victor says so the others beside me doesn't hear.

Well, he certainly appeared out of nowhere.

I look back at them again through my black rimmed eyeglasses and I feel a tug on my heart but instead of running back home I decide to do the opposite of what people expect of me.

"Nah", I sound impassive even to my own ears, "we came here to have fun. So, let's have fun".

Victor smirked at me as if he was proud of me somehow.

"We've got a secure room upstairs", Victor smirked before looking back at Jason, "you heard the man Jason let's go have some fun".

I invited Delilah who didn't seem to have any intention of leaving my side. Delilah waved over a few of her friends to join us and introduced us while Victor leads us upstairs.

Still, this isn't even Victor's house I don't know how he got Mario to agree to this.

Half an hour later I was completely wasted. I had gone against my bodyguards and listened to Delilah who insisted that I should 'chill out' and have a drink.

In short, one drink led to another and well... I was totally gonna regret drinking so much tonight but for now I decided to just go with it.

Delilah and I were seated on the couch in the bedroom. Her other friends were either on the bed or dancing. Victor was standing protectively at the door and Jason was doing the same at the window which were the only two points of entry to this room.

They could totally be so extra sometimes.

"Why are you hanging out with me?", I suddenly ask Delilah.

Her eyes widened immediately, not expecting my question but soon her look of shock is replaced by a thoughtful expression.

She drags in a deep breath and looks at me with a determined look in her eyes as if she was preparing herself to tell me something big.

"I like you Solace", she says, her voice oozing with confidence.

I find myself taken aback by her blunt and sudden words. And given my drunken state I can't help the look of confusion that I must be sporting right now.

"You don't even know me", I say stupidly. "I've never met you before tonight".

She visibly flinches at my words, and I wonder what I might've said wrong this time.

"I should've known you wouldn't remember me", she says almost to herself before turning back to me, "we met last year you did you SAT classes in year nine at Mt. Richards Academy".

My head shoots up as I stare at her. The movement causes a feeling of nausea to pass over me but I do my best to ignore it.

"How do you know that?".

"We were in the same class", she elaborated, "I sat directly behind you".

After that much detail, the pieces start coming together a bit even though my head was a bit fuzzy.

Sudden recognition washes over me and I stare at her with wide eyes for a second before my brows furrow a bit.

"You're her", I say dumbly, "the girl that kept calling me Ferd the Nerd the entire summer!".

She smiled guilty, "Yeah".

"But you look so different now", I can't hide my surprise, "no offence but you weren't always this hot and pretty".

Her cheeks flush crimson at my words instead of seeming offended. Okay... not the reaction I expected.

"But I don't understand", I say standing up. I thought you hated me. You literally tormented me every day the entire summer".

She stood up as well and my bodyguards began to give us weird looks. Not that she noticed. "That's because I was trying to get your attention. You never gave me the time of day though; you didn't even remember my name. That's why when I heard you were coming here tonight, I knew I had to see you".

I swayed a bit on my feet, the alcohol still playing tennis with my brains. I meant brain. Singular.

"But why would you want to see me?", I asked confused.

She actually smirked at me, "So I could do this", she smiled wickedly before snaking her arms around my neck and pulling my lips down to hers".
