The next thing Thorn remembered was trying to get as much blood off Evander as possible, but he didn't recall why he was lying there hugging him.

The fairy, sensing his confusion, said, "I know you're going to ask why you were hugging Evander."

Thorn replied, "Why should I do that?"

The fairy explained, "He was shaking so much yesterday that you tried to calm him down."

Thorn said, "Why should I do that?"

The fairy said, "Well, you know he was bleeding a lot... You told me that you wanted to make sure the masked lady would not hurt anyone."

Thorn nodded, "Okay, that sounds like me, yeah."

Felix, Rowan, Athena, Flint, and Flate walked into the room. Rowan looked back and forth between Thorn and Evander before finally saying, "What the bloody hell happened here?"

Athena added, "There's so much blood."

Flint chimed in, "Mate, since when do you like hugs? Every time Flate and I tried to hug you, you pushed us away."

Athena, in a teasing tone, said, "Maybe he just likes hugs from Frost."

Rowan and Felix laughed at that, but Thorn gave Athena a death stare.

Felix said, "Okay, but seriously, what happened here?"

The fairy explained, "Thorn saw a masked girl who tried to poison Evander. She gave him a forgetting potion and tried to kill him. We don't know why, but if we find out, we'll inform his parents. Oh, and Evander has forgotten many things, so it's better if you guys don't overwhelm his brain, okay?"

They all nodded. Thorn, still holding Evander, said, "He really lost a lot of blood."

The fairy nodded and said, "I think he needs to stay here longer. We need to check him to make sure he's okay. We don't want him to leave yet; that could be dangerous because he only remembers things from the past. We scanned the poison, so he can only remember his parents and old friends."

Rowan then said, "If he had friends, but probably not—"

Athena slapped his arm for that. "Ow!" Rowan exclaimed.

Evander opened his eyes, looked around the room, and then sat up. He looked behind him and saw Thorn, initially confused but then hugged him again. Professor Nightshade appeared suddenly and said, "I have never seen Evander so nice since he was only 2 years old."

Evander opened his eyes again, sat up, and looked at Thorn, realizing, "Where am I? Who are you?" He looked around the room and said, "Who are you guys? Where am I? Where is my mother?"

The fairy said, "Oh-oh."

Thorn said, "It's okay, your mother is probably coming soon."

Evander said, "Leave me alone! Where is mother?"

Thorn said, "Hey, it's okay."

Evander responded angrily, "Don't act like you know a damn thing about me because you know nothing about me!"

Thorn then said, "I don't claim to know anything about you!"

Evander retorted, "It sounds like you do."

Thorn got mad and almost wanted to slap him hard when he saw the fairy shake her head and said, "Don't do it, Thorn." Thorn then tried to calm down.

The fairy said, "We informed your mother about it, and she is coming here with your father."

Evander's eyes filled with horror when he heard "with your father."

The fairy continued, "You should stay here and get some rest. If you need anything, just call me. But Thorn will be here."

Evander asked, "Who is Thorn?"

The fairy said, "The guy you were just looking at, Thorn Evernight. I think you best remember the name Evernight."

Athena said, "Uhm, what do we have to do then?"

It hit the fairy, and she said, "Hey, when did I give you guys permission to be up?" She realized another thing and turned to Thorn. "Thorn, why were you even here in the first place?"

Thorn stammered, "Err—well, I uhm—"

Athena quickly interjected, "Well, uhm, don't we need to give Frost some rest? Ehehehe, well, I mean—since he obviously does need his rest."

The fairy sighed, "Fine. Athena, Flint, Flate, Rowan, Felix, go to your healer rooms!"

They stood up and protested, "But—"

The fairy's eyes turned blue, a sign that she was mad. They knew better than to argue further and quickly retreated to their healer rooms.

Evander and Thorn sat silently, not exchanging a word. Suddenly, the door burst open, and Evander's father stormed in, shouting, "Where is my son?!"

The fairy flew over to him, saying, "Don't worry, sir, your son is—"

But he interrupted, "I want to see Evander now! If something happened to him, then you'll wish you were never—"

Evander's mother interjected, "Calm down, honey. Look how the little fairy is shaking." She turned to the fairy, apologizing, "I am so sorry if my husband scared you. He can't bear the thought of anything happening to his son."

The fairy, calming down, replied, "Don't—don't worry about it. Thank you for the apology."

Evander's mother reassured her, "Don't worry about it, dear. Can you please tell us where our son is?"

The fairy nodded. "Oh, yes, sure I can!" She led them to Evander's room and said, "Here is your son."

Evander was sitting, and Thorn was standing nearby. Evander's father rushed to his side, asking, "Ev, are you okay?"

Evander nodded, surprised by his father's concern. However, his relief was short-lived. His father quickly added, "Okay, fine then. You can do your mad test this week!"

Evander's mother looked at his dad and said, "He is wounded! Don't demand anything from him!"

His mother interrupted, "Oh, the test, yes, the test. But he is wounded and lost a lot of blood. Give him time to rest."

The fairy then said, "I don't think it's a good moment to say, but sir, he can't take the test anyway since that masked girl poisoned him with Forget Poison."

Evander's dad looked angry but then sighed, "Fine, he can rest."

His mother smiled at him and said, "See, that wasn't so hard, right?"

The father sighed again and said, "Yes..."
