ch 38- Right weapon

Mirik's POV-

After school, I went straight back home. I took off my clothes and took a shower. While taking shower I touched my chin which was still hurting. The burning sensation had long gone but I couldn't comprehend what happened that time. The last time we fought I was sure that I could win but now I was not even sure if I could fight her for a minute.

"Mirik you are already here?" a voice came from outside.

"Yeah, do you want something to eat?" I replied recognizing the voice.

"No. I just came to inform you that I will be taking my leave." Rama said. I wrapped a towel around my lower area and came out.

"Where?" I asked.

"You don't need to worry. Just focus on your practice of spiritual energy. And ane more thing....don't become like me." he said in a low voice.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused by his statement.

"Just keep that in mind. Do you have anything else to ask me?" he replied without answering me. I also let go of what he said. I had so many things to ask him but looked like I had to come up with something on my own. But there was one question that I had to ask him.

"What weapon do you recommend to me?" I asked.

"I wanted you to find it yourself but time is not on our side," he said while taking out a small stick from his back.

"Here. I used this in my younger days. It is a baton which can turn into a staff by pressing this button." he told me as he handed me the baton. It was silver in color with a small button on the lower side of it. I started swinging it around and accidentally touched the button turning it into staff.

"Careful with that You need precision and control over the weapon to not let something like that happen again. I advise you to practice with it a lot before using it in a fight," he said with his hands folded.

"I will keep that in mind," I said while touching his feet.

(touching feet is a sign of showing respect)

"Don't do anything stupid and look after your brother and sister. I will be taking my leave," he said while leaving through the door.

I was left alone once again. I put on my clothes and went into the kitchen to cook food. I sat down and ate the food while watching TV. Same old things going on around the world. I did the dishes and lay down with the baton in my hand.

I stood back up again holding the baton and carefully swinging it in every direction. I was so lost in the flow that I stopped caring about anything around me. I accidentally touched the button a few times but I was slowly getting the hang of it.

Soon the sun peeked through my window. I was drenched in sweat.

"Looks like I will not be attending school for a while."
